He walked toward her, grinning. “The life of a runway model is exhausting, isn’t it?”

She laughed and shook her head. “That was my first and last runway show as a model,
ever
,” she insisted, her eyes dancing playfully as she watched him close the distance between them.

“I know I already told you this, but you were spectacular on that stage.” Reaching her, he slid an arm around her waist and brought her flush to his body. “Absolutely jaw-droppingly gorgeous and hot. I was so fucking proud of you, but I have to admit I wasn’t thrilled that you were nearly naked in front of so many people.” He feigned a frown.

“I wasn’t even close to half-naked,” she said with a roll of her eyes as she wrapped her arms around his neck. In the next moment, she grew serious, her gaze lifting to his. “What I did today on that runway, I couldn’t have done it without you.”

He gave her a curious look. “I had nothing to do with it.”

“You had everything to do with me being confident enough to step out on that stage in a corset in front of so many people, without the fear of being judged or criticized.” Her eyes filled with an emotion that grabbed at his heart. “Thank you for making me feel so beautiful, so desirable. And so secure about you and us together.”

To hear her say that was huge and flooded him with relief. “What you said to Ashley, about not caring what happened between her and me in the past—”

“I meant every single word,” she said, obviously sensing his need for reassurance. “I don’t want to live in the past anymore, where Ashley had too much power to hurt me. Not anymore. I want to live in the present, with you, and never look back.”

Damn, he adored this woman. He cupped her face in his hand and brushed his thumb along her cheekbone. “Thank you.”

She shrugged. “I trust you,” she said simply.

He swallowed hard and asked about the one thing he needed the most. “And you forgive me?”

“Better than that.” She lifted up and pressed her soft lips to his and whispered, “I love you, Sawyer Burrows.
So
much.”

Groaning at her sweet, perfect declaration, he kissed her, his tongue sliding into her mouth, his body pressing against hers, his hands tangling in her hair to hold her steady so he could drink his fill of her. As if he’d ever get enough. Not possible, he knew. Even forever would never be long enough.

He lifted his mouth from hers but still held her close. “Do you know how badly I wanted to get you alone all day so I could have my wicked way with you?”

“You’re alone with me now,” she teased, her eyes filled with desire as she wriggled her hips against his, rubbing against his erection and something else he had in his front pocket. Her eyes widened a bit. “And you seem to be very, very happy about that. When did you grow an extra two inches?”

He chuckled. “Impressive, right?” he drawled, then let her go so he could reach into his pocket and pull out the black velvet box that he’d put there this morning, in hopes that the day would end just like this.

When she saw what was in his hand, she gasped, and her gaze shot back up to his. “Sawyer?”

He swallowed hard, even though everything about this moment felt so right. “Do you remember when I told you that I never stopped loving you?”

She nodded, eyes huge, but she remained mute.

“You’ve been a part of me for the past year and a half, even when I thought we might never have another chance together,” he said, opening the box so she could see the diamond engagement ring inside. “Now, I’m never letting you go. Marry me, Paige. Be my wife. I want to build a family with you and make a life together. Forever. Say yes, and I swear I will make you the happiest—”

“Yes,” she interrupted him with a delighted laugh. “Yes, I’ll marry you.”

He slipped the ring on her finger, and she looked at it in awe and complete delight.

“It’s gorgeous,” she breathed.

“What do you say we take this into the bedroom?” he asked and unexpectedly swept her into his arms, loving her squeak of surprise as he carried her in that direction. “We have a lot of celebrating to do.”

Her eyes shimmered with excitement as she looped her arms around his neck. “Are we breaking out the ropes?”

He enjoyed the ropes and would no doubt tie her up again in the near future, but it was no longer something he felt compelled to do. Right now, at this moment, the only thing he wanted was Paige. “I think I’m in the mood for another show tonight,” he said, giving her a heated look as he stopped by the bed and set her on her feet. “A show I’ve never seen before but have fantasized about a hundred different times. You, straddling my hips, completely naked except for that engagement ring on your finger, riding me hard while I watch.”

She bit her bottom lip, her excitement undeniable. “I’m all about fulfilling fantasies, and I even have a few of my own I’d like to try,” she confessed unabashedly.

“Then we’d better get started,” he said with a grin that promised all kinds of decadent pleasures.

Now and forever.
