Petra moaned in response to his delicious torture. Kyle had never been so wild with her without Caleb there before, and it was driving her crazy. She couldn’t think, all she could do was feel. With each hard thrust he pulled against her nipples, which were tortured between his fingers. She felt as though she wanted to come from that alone. He’d called her a pain slut, and at this moment she was. She was willing to be his pain slut forever if he continued to make her feel like this. “Yes, Master, I’m your pain slut, only yours,” she called as she had the passing thought that his cock might come out her mouth at the rate he was ramming into her. “Fuck, yes, Master!” she screamed as her body tensed like the string on a bow with the arrow poised before it was let go, and finally it released, and she flew. Astral projection, universal connection, meeting her maker, whatever it was. She lost her sight in a blaze of white and then slammed back into her body as it throbbed and burned with a pleasure so great it was almost pain. She collapsed back against the ottoman, panting and feeling her heart beating in her temples and out through her chest. A film of sweat covered her body as she continued to gasp for air and then a sudden weight of hot, sweaty flesh collapsed on top of her. The pounding in her ears must have blocked out the sound of Kyle’s cry of orgasm. Her pussy was so traumatized, she didn’t feel him come, but the trail of fluid running down her thigh told her he had. “Thank you, my husband to be,” she panted, struggling to breathe.

“No, my love, it’s I who thanks you for agreeing to be mine for the rest of my life.”

He pulled her to her feet and led her toward the bed. “I need to take a shower and clean up.” The river of cum was now as far down as her knees.

“No, little sub, you will get to bed. I like the thought of my cum drying on your body, marking you.”

At that moment she did as well. She knew she’d regret it in the morning, but right now the thought of being held in his arms, smelling of him, having him cover her, was fundamental.

As Petra clicked the send button on her computer, another completed manuscript shipped to her publisher, she smiled. She always felt such a sense of completion once a book was finished and sent. Time had passed so quickly with the past three months being filled with wedding plans and family. How quickly life had become normal with Joel in it. The times she’d worried about being his mother now seemed so stupid. In many ways she now spent more time with Joel than Kyle did, and she loved it. She baked cupcakes and brownies. She had even attended Mother’s Day at his school. She was so close to joining the PTA, but something held her back. She wasn’t one of those mothers that enjoyed hours spent having coffee and chatting with each other. She had to work, and if she was going to have coffee, she’d prefer it at the club munches or the subs’ breakfasts.

It was only eight more days until the wedding, and she couldn’t believe how fast it had approached. Kyle still hadn’t told her if Caleb was going to be his best man, and she felt too sad to tell him to ask his brother. She knew Kyle wouldn’t give up yet, but they hadn’t seen Caleb once in the last three months, and he’d all but disappeared from the club. He still kept his medical hours, but he never visited the club anymore as far as they knew. God, she missed him, but pushing the feelings down, she focused on what was left to be done before the big day.

Caleb hadn’t been to the Locks and Chains in ages. He’d been hiding from the world, although he’d never admit that to anyone out loud. He ensured that none of his shifts at the hospital overlapped Kyle’s, and he’d ignored the phone and text messages from him. He knew he shouldn’t be abandoning his friend, but he couldn’t accept that he and Petra were together. The thought of Petra in anyone’s arms but his made his chest hurt and his mind beg to shut down. He rubbed his weary eyes, eyes that showed that last night like so many other nights in the past three weeks had ended with a bottle. The only way he could sleep was to drink himself into a stupor so the memories of Petra wouldn’t haunt him.

He headed down to the dungeon where he planned to find an easy sub to sink himself into. Someone forgettable, someone like him, just wanting a warm body for a few hours of relief. He’d then go home to—what? He had nothing, nothing but his belief and his pride and a lonely, empty house and a lonely, empty life. He noticed a scene going on in the corner of the dungeon over by the stockades. Leaning back against the wall in the shadows of the Saint Andrew’s crosses, he realized that the man standing over the naked sub being put in the stockade was Kyle. Which meant the naked sub could only be Petra. His heart broke and the pain in his chest was so great he covered it with a hand to try to heal the split that had surely opened to allow the life to pour out of him. He couldn’t help but watch them like a voyeur at a train wreck as Kyle teased and taunted Petra in the stocks. He spanked her and ran a vibrator over her exposed pussy. He had to close his eyes as they continued to play. It was too painful to watch. His need to kidnap Petra and chain her in his house and never let her go was so great that it was too impossible to remain where he was. His eyes suddenly flew open at the guttural sound of Petra coming.

“Why are you hiding, my friend?”

Damn, he really didn’t need this. “I’m not hiding,” he replied, turning to see Craig standing beside him.

“Seems to me you are.”

So what if he was. “Not tonight, Craig, leave me in peace,” he pleaded.

“I heard from a little bird who’s become great friends with Petra that you walked away from them.”

“What’s Petra got to do with you?” he demanded. He hadn’t forgotten that Craig had once been Petra’s Master.

“I care a great deal about Petra. She’s an amazing woman.”

Jealousy burned him to his very core, and he wanted to punch Craig out and demand he not even look at her again. But that wasn’t his place anymore. She was no longer his. A cheer echoed around the room, and he looked over toward Kyle and Petra to see why there was all the excitement. There on the board above Petra, who was still locked in the stockade, were the words “Going free. A spank for happiness to my future wife and sub.”

“What?” he hollered, not realizing until he heard the sound that he’d spoken out loud.

“Didn’t you know? Kyle asked her to marry him, and she accepted. Shame you’re so stuck up your own ass to even consider sharing because she could have been your wife as well. But as I’ve been told by a very bossy little bird, everyone must make compromises and adjustments in relationships. If you truly love someone, you’ll adapt and grow with them. Guess you didn’t love her enough to try.”

The roaring in his head was making it impossible to think or process what Craig had just said. All he could do was feel the searing pain and devastation. She was going to marry Kyle. She had forgotten him, and she was gone. He pushed his way out of the club as quickly as possible, nearly running over people in his haste to get out of there and away from everyone. Nothing could help him now. He was lost.

Chapter Twenty-Three

Petra looked out the window of the limo, watching the clouds drift over the city. This was supposed to be the happiest day of her life, and so why didn’t it feel like it? She felt like part of her soul was missing, and she knew it was because Caleb held the missing piece. She should demand it back, although that would require her to see him, and she couldn’t do that just yet, the wounds were still too fresh. Besides, she needed to put that part of her life in the past where it belonged and move forward with Kyle and Joel.

After spending hours getting poked and prodded with makeup and hair, she was finally ready and on the way to the church. Thankfully her friend Sandra had arranged for her to have a dressing room in the church to wait before the wedding. Sandra had been the best bridesmaid she could ever have wished for. All her friends from the club were the most honest, caring, and wonderful people she could ever have wished for. She was proud they were sharing her vanilla wedding day with her.

Getting out of the limousine was more interesting than she’d thought. So many brides worried about tripping or falling on their wedding day, and she tripped three times just getting out of the car and up to the sidewalk. How many times will I trip walking down the aisle? she wondered with a chuckle at herself. As she entered the church, she saw her father pacing patiently by the door.

“My darling, you look amazing. I’m so proud of you.” Her father’s voice had a calming effect on her as it always did. “Thank you, Dad. I love you.”

“Your mother would be so proud of you, sweetheart, if she could see you today.”

Petra steeled herself for the emotions that flooded her. She wished so much that her mother was here to see her marrying the man she loved.
Well at least one of the men I love
. She knew her mom would have loved Kyle.
Maybe even Caleb, too.
She would have also been over the moon to have a grandson like Joel, and she would have smothered him with love and affection. She had to believe her mom was up there somewhere smiling down on today with love shining from her eyes. She also would have looked at the flowers decorating the church and said that the yellow roses would have looked better if they were in taller vases and her bouquet should have been larger with more bud roses. That thought made her chuckle and look at her dad with a warm smile. “I know, Dad, she’s here with us in our hearts.” Sandra then directed her toward the waiting room at the side of the church. “See you soon, Dad.”

Petra paced as she waited in the anteroom for everyone to be seated so they could get this show on the road. She felt as though her heart was being torn in two. She so desperately loved Kyle and couldn’t wait to officially be Joel’s mom. But the part of her that loved Caleb broke with her need for him. Why did he walk away? Why didn’t he see that their love could survive? That together they could all work through the issues and find a way to make their relationship work? She’d also realized over the past few months that she could never share either of them with anyone else. So maybe she was asking the impossible of Caleb to share her with Kyle.

If Caleb had asked her to choose and if she’d had to, who would’ve been the one she would be walking down the aisle with today? Would it have been Kyle? Or would it have been Caleb? Was it fair to Kyle to walk down the aisle and into marriage with him when she couldn’t answer that question? The desire to turn and flee reared its ugly head again, and nausea surged through her empty stomach. She wanted to scream. She wanted to cry. She wanted to curse the world. Just when she was about to give up hope and run, the door opened and Sandra strode in with a warm smile.

“So my dear, are you ready to get this show on the road?”

“Ready as I’m ever going to be,” she replied. Pasting a false smile on her face, she took one last look in the mirror, not looking at her face in case she saw the turmoil mirrored in her eyes and ran.

“Okay. I’ll go get your father and we’re right to roll.”

He stood in the shadows watching as the audience took their seats. The excitement of the occasion buzzed in the air. He knew he shouldn’t be there. He shouldn’t have come, and now he was here he should just leave. Why was he torturing himself with this anyway? He was a sadist not a masochist. He liked to inflict pain not suffer it.

“You know, she didn’t think you’d come. But I knew you couldn’t stay away.”

He turned, shocked that he hadn’t heard Kyle coming up behind him. But he stood there in his tuxedo. The man about to marry the woman Caleb loved.

“What?”

“I knew you’d come,” he replied.

“Look, I’m sorry…I should just go.” Guilt, shame, and sorrow overwhelmed him.

“Why would you miss your own wedding?”

Caleb stared at Kyle, wondering what he was saying. Maybe he was imagining this moment.

“What?” he said, baffled.

“Not your legal wedding. For your fuckup, she gets to be my legal wife. So thanks for that,” he happily replied with a smirk on his face.

But the truth in his eyes showed Kyle was deadly serious, and he couldn’t possibly be imagining that. This was real. “What the hell are you going on about?” he demanded.

“Caleb, we both know you love her more than life itself, and we both know she loves us both. Am I one-hundred-percent okay with that? No. But I don’t really have a choice. If anything, my first marriage taught me that you can’t change a person’s soul, their spirit, and their needs. You can’t make someone be who you want them to be. Petra needs us both. So come with me. Your tux is in my car. Let’s get you changed and ready for our wedding.”

“You really mean it, don’t you?”

“Caleb, if I had to share my wife with anyone on this planet, it would be with you. You love my son like your own. You love our future wife wholly and soul deep. You’re a good man, Caleb.”

“No, I’m not. Not compared to you, Kyle.” He felt smaller than he’d ever felt. Here was a man who’d been his best friend for so many years offering to share his wife. Kyle was willing to share his life, his wife, his son, and his future with him. Never in his life had he felt more like a spoilt child who’d thrown a tantrum and walked away. But Kyle was willing to forgive him instantly and move forward into the future with the two of them.
