Before these emerging Arks, they had been a mere resistance, with all the weaknesses and hopelessness that such movements can bring.

Now, on this new day, it turned.

It changed.

It was no longer a
resistance.

It was a
war.

For all those who had lived in fear, who were imprisoned or brutalized—for everyone who hated the Authority with a rage that seemed to consume their lives—on this day …

 … it began.

Dedicated to the entire team at id Software.
Your creative vision and passion made
this new world come to life.

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

Rage
, the novel written by me, couldn’t exist without my having been able to work on the game. Tim Willits, the legendary producer of Doom 3, and now Rage, invited me to work on the game. Due to that, I was able to see Team id’s vision grow and develop over the years. When it came time for a novel, Tim made sure that I had what I needed to jump back into that world and go from interactive to prose. Likewise, under a tight deadline, the book’s editor, David Pomerico, showed patience and care as important questions and issues were resolved, and we took the reader deeper into that world. Steve Perkins at Bethesda Softworks graciously made sure that I was kept up to date as this project came closer to happening. For me, the writing and pages flew … and that is in large part due to all their support.
