“Stop, Madjesty! Don’t do this to yourself.” Ramona said.
“This bitch has ruined my life!”
“I know. And she’ll get what she deserves, baby.” She said. “I promise. But don’t end your life like this. She’s not worth it.” Laura added.
“Plus you’re pregnant.” Ramona said.
“What?” Madjesty said dropping the knife. “What you talking about?”
“You’re not pregnant?” Laura asked.
Madjesty rubbed her stomach. “Fuck no!”
“I thought you were.”
She thought her aunts were delusional. She couldn’t be pregnant because boys can’t get pregnant. Not wanting to miss Passion she got up and looked down at Harmony whose eyes were wide with fright.
“The next time I see you, nobody will be able to stop me. You better off killing yourself.”
With that Madjesty escaped Harmony’s tyranny for good.

HARMONY
MORE DRAMA

After that bitch tried to kill me yet again, I grabbed me something to drink. I was through with her for good! I didn’t bother thanking Ramona and Laura for saving me; because I knew when we went to court they would add this incident to the reasons why I didn’t need this house or need to be around my children.

But I had a plan too and it involved Detective Tassel. I planned to tell him that they were the ones who tried to kill me. And since they were trying to take the house, I’m sure there was a way I could prove it. So I wasn’t as dumb as they thought I was and it was just a matter of time.

When they went to their rooms I decided to go outside to get some air. The moment I opened the door, I saw someone I hadn’t seen in a long time. Ebony. And who did she have with her? Half dead ass Trip who was wearing a pair of dark glasses and walking with a cane. Trip looked as if she would blow over any minute. While Ebony looked like she had work done on her nose and that they’d taken too much off the tip.

“Hi, Harmony.” Ebony smirked. “You remember Trip right? Shaggy’s mother?”
“What are ya’ll doing here?”
“We came to see you.”
“How did you know where I lived?”
“I ran into Mrs. Duncan.” She smiled. “She came to my wedding and I couldn’t believe my ears when she said you said hello. You gave her your address when she was taking you home and she gladly gave it to me.”
“So now we’re here.” Trip said.
“Well I’m busy.”
“Nonsense…we have a lot to talk about.” Ebony said pushing past me as Trip followed.
And without my invitation, she and Trip walked into my house. It would go down in history as one of the longest nights of my life.

MAD
A TICKET OUT OF HERE

I was standing on the platform waiting on Denise to come down the escalators at any moment. I left her ticket at the Ticket Counter and was excited about seeing her face again. It had been so long and I never thought this moment would come.

I don’t know what made her change her mind, about being with me, the real me, but it makes me think that Glitter had something to do with it. Maybe she’s my angel and she finally started putting in work in my honor. Glitter was the one person, no matter what, who loved me for me and I never thought I’d ever find that again. I just wanted everything to go smoothly, with no signs that things would go bad.

Suddenly my sister’s betrayal didn’t bother me anymore. In my mind, it is what it is. Maybe it was the fact that my mother had been filling my head daily with thoughts that my sister didn’t love me. Or maybe I was just tired of chasing her. Whatever it was, I knew our relationship wouldn’t be the same especially after I raped her on her bedroom floor.

And what did my aunts mean by saying I was pregnant? That shit was funny and I thought about it all the way in the cab ride over here.
“Hey! You like my plane?” A little boy asked. He pretended as if the plane was taking flight a few feet from the ground.
Feeling in a good mood, I looked down at him and said, “Yeah…it’s pretty cool.”
“My daddy bought it for me.” He said pointing at a couple a few feet away from me who were kissing. When the man finally came up for air, he saw the boy near me.
I waved at the man who said, “Antwan, get over here.”
The moment I heard his name I immediately disliked the kid. I know it wasn’t his fault that he had the same name of the person who bullied me when I was younger, but I hated him for it all the same.
“I’m just talking to the boy, daddy.” he said. “I’m not being bad.”
“I’m sorry he bothered you.” The father said. “He loves talking to strangers.”
“Not a problem.” I responded tugging at my cap over my eyes.
Walking a few feet away, I hoped the name Antwan wasn’t some omen. Would she change her mind? Would she not love me like she promised?
Checking the time on the clock on the wall, I noticed she still wasn’t here and time was flying by. If she didn’t make it in the next twenty minutes we’d miss the train. I bought us two tickets to New York, so that we could have some fun there before boarding a plane to Texas. I called Rocket and told her when I got to Texas, that I needed her to meet me us at the airport and she was excited about our arrival. Things were really looking up.
“Where are you, Denise?” I said to myself, as the station filled with more people. “Don’t do this to me. Please. Don’t let me down.”
“Hey…watch this,” Antwan said flying the plane next to my leg again. I frowned at him this time wishing he’d get his bad luck ass away from me. “See I can fly high.”
“That’s good…but why don’t you go back over to your father.”
“They kissing.” He pointed at the lovesick couple. “See.”
My stomach flipped because I wished I could do the same thing. I wanted to hold my girl and tell her I loved her. I wanted the opportunity to take care of her, no matter what I had to do. I wanted the family I always dreamed about. I wanted her.
“Go over there anyway, Okay? I really want to be alone.”
“Okay.” He moped walking back to his father.
The moment he said that, my phone rang. It was the same number Denise called me from earlier. “Hello?”
“Wags,” Denise said. “I…I’m not going to be able to come. You need to go ahead without me.”
I sat on the bench a few feet from where I stood and held the phone closer to my ear. “What? I mean…what happened?”
“I realized I can’t be with a girl.” She cried. “I thought I could, Wags, but I realized the person I thought you were, you aren’t. I thought you were my boyfriend, the one who wanted me to have his kids, but you can never give that to me.”
“But I can! I promise. There are ways we can make this happen.”
“You can’t!” She yelled. “And that picture of you standing in front of me, naked, with the same parts on your body I got on mine keeps running through my mind. Your breasts, your hips…I just…I just can’t do it!”
Silence.
“Please don’t do this. I’m gonna die without you, Denise. Do you hear what I’m saying? I’m gonna die?”
“Don’t say that. You’ll be fine. You have to be.”
“Why did you come back into my life?” I sobbed. “I was finally realizing it was over between us! So why didn’t you just leave me alone?”
“I don’t know. But I’m sorry I reentered your life too. But this is it for real, Wags. Goodbye.”
Sitting on the bench everything looked blurry. It took me a moment to realize I was crying. I hadn’t cried since my father gave me the scalpel back at the hospital. He made me realize that when you cried, nobody really gave a fuck. Sure they’d hold you, caress you and even tell you things would be okay. But nobody really cared once they left your presence.
The entire time I was in that mental institution I never once, not once cried. Yet here I was, doing it again and I hated myself for it. I realized my life is a joke and unless I felt like dying, I’d have to live with my life as it is.
Dying.
Dying.
Dying.
Unless I felt like
dying
, I’d have to live my life as it is. Standing up and looking at the clock I realized I had two minutes before the train came. Now the station was crowded and people were standing everywhere waiting to board. I knew what I had to do. I finally understood that my life was not meant to live out fully.
In one minute I decided to leap for the tracks.
Thirty seconds.
Twenty seconds.
Fifteen seconds.
The moment I moved to hop on the tracks the man whose son I spoke to grabbed me. “WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!” He yelled, holding me as my body dangled. I was neither on the platform or tracks. Just suspended in mid air.
“LET ME GO! LET ME DIE!”
Another man saw him and helped, even though I was swinging wildly to get away from them both. “LET ME GO! PLEASE! STOP!”
They couldn’t get a hold of me. If they let me go, I would jump. If they pulled me up and I continued to fight they would fall with me. So they just held on to me trying not to let me hit the tracks.
“YOU’RE GOING TO GET US KILLED!” The man who joined us said. “COME BACK ON THE PLATFORM.”
“I WANT TO DIE!” I cried. “PLEASE LET ME DIE!”
When things couldn’t get any worse, a third man joined to help but they still couldn’t get a good hold of me. I fought so wildly that nobody could get a solid grip.
“Let’s pull her up with all our strength on the count of three.”
When I heard this I swung even wilder and the three men who were trying to save my life tumbled onto the tracks. And out of nowhere a forth man pulled me up to safety. The three of them tried to climb back up but it was too late. The train was coming at lightening speed. Stunned, they gave up the fight and looked at the train that was about to end their lives.
I heard a loud screeching noise and could tell the train conductor was trying to hit the brakes to prevent from hitting the men. But it was too late. Before my eyes all three men were killed instantly. People were screaming and yelling at the sight and mothers covered their children’s eyes.
“OH MY GOD! HELP MY HUSBAND!” A lady screamed. “
The men were smashed under the train, which still hadn’t completely stopped. Everyone looked at me. Like I was crazy. Like I’d caused all of this.
My life was spared, and their lives were taken.
And all I could do was think about was how lucky the three of them were.

PRESENT DAY
GREEN DOOR – ADULT MENTAL HEALTH CARE CLINIC NORTHWEST, WASHINGTONDC

“So that’s how all those people died.” Christina Zahm said. “In a train crash as they were trying to save your daughter’s life.”
“Yes. Three men died on the tracks and two people died inside the train as it tried to stop. But when she went back into that institution, she started telling them how she grew up in a bad home and suddenly the news wasn’t about the five men who died. It was all about me.
“Can you understand how everything connects?” She paused. “I mean, can you see that?”
“Yes. I do.”
Christina was shocked. This was the first time Harmony bothered to show any responsibility for her actions and she was hopeful that they were making progress.
“Was Madjesty pregnant?”
“That’s another long story.”
“What about Jace? And Kali?” Christina paused. “What happened to them?”
Things between them two got out of control, but that was before he got sick.”
“Who?”
“Jace?”
“I don’t understand.”
“I unknowingly contracted HIV and gave it to him.” She paused. “To this day it’s one of my biggest regrets.”
Christina was silent and gave her a few moments. Besides, even she needed some time to digest the news. “You mentioned that the electrician installed cameras in your daughters’ rooms earlier in your story.”
“He did.”
“How did that end up?”
“Because of the tapes, I got locked up for a brief time.”
“Who found it and what was on it?”
“I sold it to a pornography company. I’ll leave it at that for now.” Harmony paused. “I really am tired.”
“Okay, let’s resume on Monday.” Christina paused. “When you come back we’ll discuss everything, starting with Jayden.”
“Okay.”
“Before we leave, how did Jayden react after her own sister raped her?”
“She…she wasn’t the same.” Harmony swallowed. “Jayden, if you can believe it or not, ended up being worse than Madjesty ever was.”
