“Have a seat,” he told me. I sat on the edge of the hospital bed and looked him over strangely. Something about him was off. “So, how is everything going?”

“It depends on if this shit is out of my system or not.”

“We’ll see about that.” He told me. “Drop your pants.” I didn’t like his choice of words but whatever. I dropped my pants. “Your boxers too.”

I was naked from the waist down in front of another man and was very uncomfortable. He stepped away from me and looked around the office like it was his first time being there. And then he found a box of gloves, put them on and examined my penis. “So far so good, a little small, but not too bad.”

“Fuck you just say to me?” I said mugging this dude.

“I’m just kidding, son.” He laughed.

He lifted my penis by moving it from the left to right. I couldn’t look at another man touching me so I kept my eyes on the ceiling until he gripped my dick and balls so hard, I would have rather died then to deal with the pain any longer.

“Do you know who I am, son?” He squeezed tighter.

“What…The…Fuck…Are…You…Doin’, nigga?” I said very slowly and very carefully.

“Did you know I had a daughter, that I would have given the world for, ONLY TO HAVE HER TAKEN FROM ME BY THAT NO GOOD FATHER OF YOURS?!” He screamed.

I wiped the sweat from my brow, with the back of my left hand and tried my best to stop shivering. I even contemplated if I could hit him in the face hard enough to get him to release me. But the chance was not one I was willing to take.

“How…How did you know I was here?”

“I’ve been following you for a while. Just could never seem to get you alone. I have to give it to you, your security is pretty tight.” He laughed. “And then it dawned on me, I was traveling with too many people,” he continued maintaining the hold he had on my jewels. “It would be much easier to get at you if I was alone.”

“Now what, nigga! Either shoot me, or get the fuck out of my face!”

At that moment, I didn’t give a fuck anymore. The pain was blinding but just when I had given up, someone walked into the door.

“There he is!” The nurse said whom I had seen earlier. “He’s not supposed to be in here.” Two unarmed security guards grabbed Massive and wrestled him to the floor.

“You gonna see me again real soon, son.” He said trying to get away. “Real soon.”

When they took him out of the office I fell to the floor cupping my jewels. Kevin came rushing inside the room and said, “Please don’t tell me that was who I think it was.”

“Yeah…At least we know what he looks like now,” I said breathing heavily.
“I’m ‘bout to go shoot that nigga!” Kevin said preparing to leave me again.
“No!” I stopped him. “Now is not the right time. Just help me up, man.”
He did and I no longer cared who saw me naked. All I wanted was the pain to go away.

Although Massive was taken away by security I already knew how it was going to end. He would probably have them both killed within the hour and escape. I knew there was no way he was going to let two unarmed guards take him into custody. But had it not been for the men being stronger than him, I would probably be dead. I was still trying my hardest to breathe when the nurse walked up to me.

“Mr. Sherrod, I’m so sorry,” she said. “I didn’t know he was in here.”

Followed behind her was the real doctor. “Son, let me take a look at you.”

Both the nurse and the doctor spent the next few minutes looking me over while Kevin stayed by my side. I knew then that I couldn’t even go to something as private as a doctor’s appointment without having Kevin right with me.

FUCK! I need this nigga dead like yesterday!

After the doctor’s appointment, I had Kevin drive me around a little before going home. Outside of a little bruising I was good and the disease was gone. Still, I had a lot of shit on my mind. From Massive being at my doctor’s appointment to this shit with Harmony. Then there was the shit with Kali kidnapping the girl from school and Herb Dayo and Sick Sense still being missing. I really needed someone to talk too, it would be nice if it was my father.

Since I decided to operate DC’s shops, I was seeing Rick regularly. It was the most I’d ever seen him for any period of my life. Normally his visits lasted a weekend before we were in business together, but now I talked to him daily. I know our relationship was different because we were in business together but I wished it didn’t have to be that way. There were times when I dealt with regular shit in my life and could have used the guidance of a father. But that guidance never came.

When I finally pulled up at my crib, I saw cars everywhere. My house was jam packed with wall-to-wall niggas when I walked through my doors.

“Welcome home, sir. Your friends are still here.” My maid said with a phone in her hand.
“I see.” I said walking deeper into the house.
“But Harmony is on the phone, she said she wants to talk to you.”

I really didn’t feel like dealing with her but my relationship with my own father made me change my mind. If she was pregnant and the child was mine, I couldn’t put it through what I been through.

“Tell her I can’t talk now, but I’ll have a car come get her later.”

“No problem, sir.”

An hour later, Harmony was there and we went into a private room. Harmony wasn’t showing yet and she still had her figure. For a moment I thought about fuckin’ her but remembered the doctor’s visit and said fuck it.

I sat on a sofa, and she sat next to me. “What’s up, Harmony? What you want to talk about now?”
“I want to know if you’re still mad at me? And if you had a chance to think about you and me having this baby together?”
“Yeah…I thought about it. And when and if it gets here, I’ll be ready to make a decision then.”
She frowned and said, “Whatever happens after this, is your fault.”
“Fuck is that ‘sposed to mean?”
She was just about to respond when Tony Wop knocked on the door.
“Come in,” I said.
He came in, looked at Harmony and then at me. “I ain’t know you had company.”
“Yeah…What’s up?” I said standing up.
“Everything set for your party at Newton’s Mansion. And I got the paper from our soldiers in Southeast too. Where you want it?”

I got up and told him where to put it, then I came back into the room with Harmony. She was quiet at first before she started talking.

“So…Can we work on us or not?”
“I already told you, me and you never gonna have nothin’ outside of a kid together.”
“If you don’t want me, I’ma hate this baby for the rest of my life, and raise it on my own.” She pouted.

“You ain’t raising shit on your own if the kid is mine,” I said. “’Cause I’ma look out for both of you. But that don’t mean I ever want to be with you again.”

I gave her something to eat before getting rid of her so I could take a nap. But since everybody was at my crib, it didn’t look like rest would come any time soon. Wanting to be alone, I bypassed a few of my friends and went upstairs. When I got to my room Antoinette was in the bed sleep. I looked at her sexy silhouette and wondered why I couldn’t be happy with her. Easing into the bed I imagined that she was Harmony, and that we had the life that I always wanted us to have. And for the moment, shit was alright.

Nasty Moves

Harmony

After talking to Jace and dealing with Kali, I was tired of playing nice, so I decided to make a few moves that would force me to have to leave DC for good. I didn’t have much family outside of my grandmother and my uncle who had been missing for a while now. And I didn’t know much about my father's side of the family, outside of an aunt who lived in Houston. But I had to get in contact with her, somehow.

I remember her coming by the house when I was younger, to borrow money from daddy that never came back. She used to bring me fake dolls that would always break the moment I touched them. His sister was a mooch and I knew hell would have to freeze over before she changed.

Her name was Angela Phillips and unless she got married that was going to have to be enough for me to find her. First I needed to visit old man Grand today because I needed his help with my biggest play yet. People were going to remember my name when I finally left DC. And I wasn’t talking about Miss Burns, the nickname they tried to label me with either.

“You need to tell them bitches to stop callin’ my house!” Shirley yelled. “Trip called here ten times already.”
“Whatever, Shirley,” I said ignoring her.
I picked up the phone preparing to call Grand, but Trip was on the line.

“Harmony.” She said in a low voice. I hadn’t spoken to her since she got all upset about what Ebony told her. “I’m not mad at you no more, okay?”

“Whatever, Trip. You believed something Ebony told you instead of believing a friend.”
“You right and I’m sorry. But I can’t talk about that now. Can you please come over to Constance’s house? She talking crazy.”
“Well call Kreshon. I ain’t her man.”

“Please, Harmony. She over here saying she gonna kill herself and shit like that. I can’t stay with her because I gotta go pick up Evan from school.”

I swear I didn’t feel like dealing with any of this shit. “Alright…I’m on my way.”

When I went into my room to get dressed, Shirley walked in. “You ain’t been tyin’ up my line have you? ‘Cause I still haven’t heard from my son yet.”

“No,” I said ignoring her again.
“Where the fuck are you goin’?”
“If you must know over Connie’s,” I said.

I threw my stuff on and went to Constance’s house and knocked on the door. When I got there the door was wide opened and I let myself in. She was in the living room sitting on the sofa rocking back and forth. I felt like I should go back out but was nervous to do anything. Her hair was all over her head and she was sitting in her white dingy panties and a red fitted T-shirt.

“Where’s your mother, Connie?” I said walking up behind the sofa. She was quiet and I walked deeper into the living room and then to the front of the sofa. That’s when I saw the gun sitting on the couch next to her.

I turned around about to leave until she aimed the gun at me and said, “Sit down, Harmony.” I reluctantly walked back toward her. “Sit over here, next to me.”

Then she started laughing and I could finally see that her wrists had knicks in them.
“Do you know how to slit your wrists?” She asked with wide eyes. “Can you help me?” She smiled crazily.
“No, Connie…I don’t know how.” I said nervously.
“Then what are you doing here, bitch?” She asked. “Since I know you don’t care about nobody but yourself.”
“I do care about people.”

“Then why didn’t you answer the phone when I called? Why weren’t you there for me when Ebony got with my man? Do you know that they’re still together to this day?” She wiped the tears away and then gripped the gun tighter.

“Oh so what, you gonna shoot me now?” I asked looking at the gun pointing in my direction.

She was crying hysterically and said, “No, I’m gonna shoot myself.”

I felt a little relieved but would have preferred if nobody got shot at all. And if someone did, I didn’t want to be anywhere around when it happened.

“Constance, please stop tripping. Let me call, Kreshon.”

“I did already,” she said sobbing again. “He said fuck me. Can you believe that shit? After everything he did to me, he said fuck me!”

“Maybe if you call him a…”
POW!
“OH MY GAWD!!!”

I couldn’t believe it. She actually shot herself right in front of me. I jumped up and backed into a table falling flat on my ass. Blood was everywhere and I never seen anything like it before. All I knew was that I had to leave and get as far away from the situation as possible, and that’s exactly what I did.

Constance’s suicide played over and over in my mind. She said her mother had a gun and that she knew how to use it but I always thought she was lying. I had to leave DC now more than ever before. I didn’t even bother to call the cops because I didn’t want them asking me questions. Plus if Kali or Jace found out, they might think I was talking to the police about the girl instead of Connie’s suicide. So I went home to change to get the blood off of my clothes and then I would go to Grand’s house. I knew he’d have some smoke and some liquor and that’s all I needed right now.

I had been cool with Grand since I was a little girl even though Kali was his uncle. Now that I think about it, Grand told me a while back to stay away from his nephew but I never listened. When I was younger, Grand ran an ice cream truck that everybody loved to go to. But when I discovered that grown men preferred his treats more than kids, I found out what he really sold was weed. He got ten years in prison for his little scheme and decided it was best to sell shit out of his house. Lately he’d been doing more smoking than selling and I wondered how he even made a living.

Since Grand had a weakness for young girls, namely me, I decided to put on my tight jeans. But the moment I zipped them up, I felt nauseous all over again. This was my first time being pregnant so I was unsure if the nausea was going to last forever.
