Of course she isn’t,
I thought.
Why should she save herself for me when I ditched her? And I’m about to do it again . . .

When we lived under the same roof, I dropped little hints and compliments, but Carly never seemed to ‘get it’. And if she did, she sure as hell didn’t act on it. After a while, I gave up trying. I was too chicken shit to tell her my true feelings, it just wasn’t my style. So I settled for fucking random sluts instead to attempt to fill the bottomless hole inside of me.

Knowing that she hadn’t saved herself for me made me wish I’d stuck around to protect her from whatever prick took her innocence away. It made me wish that I’d told her how I truly felt instead of leaving.

It made me wish . . . that I could have her right now.

The urge to walk up to her room, break down the door and fuck the angry out of her was a powerful one. But I had to resist it. I had to fight. I couldn’t let my desire rule me.

I tried to close my eyes and concentrate on going to sleep. My eyes popped open a second later. “This isn’t going to work,” I muttered.

I got up from the couch and walked over to the kitchen, searching the cabinets until I found a zip lock bag. I opened the freezer and grabbed a handful of ice and threw it inside before zipping it back up.

I walked back over to the couch and laid back down. Pressing the icepack against my balls, I let out a deep sigh and thought,
this is going to be a long night.

Chapter 14
Carly

I
woke
up the next morning to the smell of eggs and bacon. I’m not sure if it was because that was a routine of Mason’s, or because there was a lack of options in my kitchen. I had no idea how long I’d slept or what time it was. All I remembered from the previous night was storming into my room, throwing myself face down into my pillow and crying my eyes out until sleep took me.

After stretching, I made my way into the kitchen and my mouth went dry. Mason was standing at the stove, shirtless, scrambling eggs. I should’ve been pissed off at the sight of him after how he treated me the night before, but his being shirtless washed my anger away, reminding me of the desire I’d felt for him.

He looked more mouth-watering than the delicious food he was cooking. I could definitely learn to appreciate waking up to a sight like that every morning.

“Seriously?” I demanded, trying to sound pissed off and failing.

Mason looked up at me as he scrambled an egg and grinned. I swear his adorable dimples gave me life. “What?”

I folded my arms across my breasts. “You treat me like shit last night and now you’re making me breakfast?”

His smile dimmed somewhat. “Oh. That.”

I glowered. But it was hard to look pissed when I couldn’t keep my eyes off of his torso. He had such perfect definition.

“Yes,
that
.”

“Well, I’m sorry about what I said. I didn’t mean to piss you off.”

“That’s all?” I demanded, hiding my surprise at his apology. I hadn’t expected him to apologize, especially after how cold-hearted he acted with me. “You’re sorry? And that’s supposed to make everything better?”

Mason nodded at the kitchen table. “Go on, have a seat and I’ll explain everything in a minute.”

I started to step toward the table and stopped to give him a dirty look. “I’ll sit down whenever I’m good and ready, thank you very much.”

Mason chuckled as he flipped over pieces of bacon he had sizzling in another skillet. “Suit yourself Miss Prissy Pants.”

“I will.”

I waited all of five seconds before walking over to the table to sit down, just to show him who was boss.

“That smells good,” I grudgingly admitted, my stomach growling.

“Doesn’t it?” Mason tossed me a wink. “And I knew you’d see it my way.”

“Shut up.”

Mason laughed and I almost felt better. Almost.

A minute later and he was sitting down across from me with the steam from our food rising lazily in the air between us.

“So about last night,” Mason said, biting into a juicy piece of bacon, his powerful jaws making quick work of it.

I forked a heaping of eggs. “Yeah, about last night . . .”

“I said those horrible things to you for a reason. Maybe it was stupid, but I wanted to piss you off.”

My forehead crinkled in confusion, and I set my fork down. Didn’t he just say a minute ago that he
didn’t
mean to piss me off? “But why?”

Mason stared at me for a moment and then let out a sigh. “Because I wanted you to be mad at me so that it would be easier for me to leave.”

My mouth went dry and my heart skipped a beat. “What?”

“It just seems that the best thing I can do for you is to distance myself, and lead everyone who’s chasing me away from you.”

I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. We’d come so close to taking our relationship to a place it had never been before and now Mason wanted to up and leave. “But we can negotiate—”

“Even if we were able to get the charges against me dropped, or a plea deal with just a slap on the wrist, that still leaves Anonymous after me. I just don’t see any other way around it, Carly.”

“There’s always a way. We just have to find it,” I protested in despair.

Mason nodded. “There is a way. You stay here and I leave.”

I shook my head. It felt like I was falling apart inside. “I won’t let you leave again so easily.”

Mason ignored me. “Stay off the grid for a few days and give me a head start. Then you call the police — tell them that I showed up on your doorstep out of the blue and forced you to help me. Tell them that you don’t know where I went, which will be true.” He stared at me. “Can you do that for me, Carly?”

Mason was killing me. He’d just come back into my life and now he was leaving again. It would be worse than before, at least then I just figured he was pissed and would be back a few hours later.

I stared at him, searching for a weakness in his resolve, some chance that I could make him stay. He had his chiseled jaw set like stone. It was obvious that I wasn’t going to convince him to stay. He’d already made up his mind.

“Carly? Promise me . . .”

I could barely get the words out over the lump in my throat. “I promise.”

Relief etched across his handsome features and then he nodded at my untouched plate. “Good. Now eat your food.”

I pushed the plate away from me, feeling sick to my stomach. “I’m not hungry anymore.”

Mason sighed and sat back in his seat. “I’m just as upset about this as you are.”

I snorted angrily. “Well you definitely don’t act like it.”

And if you really cared about me, you wouldn’t be leaving.
Again
.

“Well, I am. And I’m only doing this to protect you.”

I didn’t even want to argue anymore. “Whatever.”

Seeing the distressed state I was in, Mason gave up on trying to reason with me and ate the rest of his food in silence.

When breakfast was over he went outside and retrieved his shirt and hoodie and came back in to say his goodbyes.

“I really do hate to do this, but it’s time for me to go.” There was a genuine sadness in his eyes that only served to heighten my emotions.

Looking at him standing in that doorway, prepared to leave out of my life for maybe forever, I could hardly breathe.

It was Déjà vu all over again. And this time I had a feeling he wasn’t coming back.

He appeared to be waiting for me to say something. “Carly?”

I couldn’t speak. The lump in my throat was too big.

“I’m doing this for the both of us.”

“Just go,” I croaked, feeling my eyes pool with tears. I lowered my gaze to the floor. I couldn’t bear to look at him. We had come so close to something yesterday and now he was just walking out on it. “Just go, Mason!”

I hated him in that moment. Hated his guts because I didn’t know how I was going to get through it when he was gone. I was sure that once he walked out that door, I would shatter into a million little pieces.

I heard the sound of creaking wood and then a firm hand pressed against my cheek. “There is another reason why I have to leave,” Mason said, tilting my face upward and forcing me to look at him.

I swallowed back that awful lump, a tear escaping the pool in my right eye. “Why?”

“I can’t . . .” he hesitated. “I can’t control myself around you.”

“What do you mean?” It was a rhetorical question, as I knew exactly what he was talking about.

Mason shook his head. “You don’t understand. I’ve always been in control, Carly.
Always.
It’s the one thing I’ve prided myself on. But now . . .” His fingers trembled against my face and I sensed that he was fighting some inner turmoil. “You have no idea what your little teasing did to me,” he growled. “Absolutely no idea.”

“Hey, you started it.”

Mason nodded and his expression turned sad. “And now I’m going to end it. I’m no good for you, Carly, nothing but trouble. I mean, look at me — I’m going to be on the run for the foreseeable future. Is that the kind of life that you want for yourself?”

“I don’t care what you are,” I said. “I’d follow you into the depths of hell if that’s where you were going,” I said, and I meant every word.

Mason frowned. “I used to think that I was the
only
one for you and that no one else deserved you. But I realize now that you deserve much better than what I can give you. We were so close last night, and if we’d have had sex, this would have been impossible to do.”

Mason’s words touched me and it thrilled me to hear from his mouth that all this time he harbored such feelings for me. “But—”

“Besides, we’re stepbrother and stepsister. What will Dad and Sherry say?”

“Fuck them! Besides, they’re all but divorced anyway.”

Mason laughed, his dimples showing. “Ah, Carly. That’s what I’ve always loved about you. You can always make me laugh even if I don’t want to.”

“So just stay. Please!” Didn’t he have a heart? I was practically about to die. “Fight for what you know we both want. I love you, Mason!”

Mason’s eyes lit up to study my tear-stained face. “What did you just say?” His face was pale as if he’d been struck.

The words rushed out like running water. “I love you,” I said. “I think I have since the first day we met.”

He was silent for a long time, but all of a sudden his lips were locked with mine. His arms wrapped around my waist, pulling me close. Electricity flowed between us, causing prickling sensations along my skin. And down below, I could feel his bulge begin to press against his jeans and my stomach.

His tongue slipped into my mouth, swirling around mine as I savored the taste. As we kissed, his hands roamed over my body, causing fire wherever he touched. I shuddered, my pulse pounding in my throat. He was only touching me and I already felt like I was in heaven. I’d never been touched this way before by any man, and it felt amazing.

He picked me up, and I let out a small gasp of surprise as he carried me over to the kitchen counter. He placed me on it gently, all while maintaining our passionate kiss.

Then he pulled away, leaving me gasping for breath, his lips quickly finding their way to my neck. He covered it with a flurry of kisses and I was sure he’d leave a hickey there, but I was lost in the heat of passion.

I felt incredible — more wanted and desired than I could ever imagine.

He continued burning my neck with passionate kisses while he deftly unbuttoned my blouse. I helped him out by taking it off and tossing it to the side. My bra came quickly after and my nipples stiffened as the cool air hit them.

Admiration flashed in Mason’s eyes as he drew back to survey my breasts.

“Even more amazing than in my dreams,” he murmured with appreciation. He wasted no time and cupped my right breast in his hand and then bent forward and hungrily wrapped his lips around my nipple.

I titled my head back and a pleasured sigh escaped my parted lips. His teeth kneaded and teased my right nipple while he took his other hand and pinched my left one, twisting and turning it.

“Ohh,” I groaned, my head spinning. I literally felt like I was going to have an orgasm already, a years-long thirst for Mason finally being quenched.

When his teething and teasing brought me to a feverous pitch, he stopped, pulling back and grabbing onto my skirt. Led by instinct, I lifted my ass up off the counter to make it easier for him and my skirt swiftly came off along with my panties.

He tossed them carelessly to the side, looked at my swollen pussy and then grinned at me, practically salivating. “You’re soaking wet.” He placed a finger on my clit and then slid it down the side of my labia, gathering moisture. He brought his finger to his lips and sucked on it. “Delicious,” he said with immense satisfaction. “Just like I thought. So fucking sweet. You have no idea how many times I’ve dreamt of this moment. And now that it’s finally real, I’m going to enjoy every fucking second.”

The intensity in his words and eyes left me breathless with anticipation. He bent over, bringing his face level with my quivering mound and inhaled. The look of satisfaction that spread across his face as he savored the smell of me made me shiver.

Without warning, he went to town on me like a starving animal, his lips clamping down on my pussy, sucking and slurping up my juices.

“Oh god,” I cried, my back arching and my thighs trembling around his face. I wasn’t prepared for the sensation of his mouth on me. I’d never felt anything like it in my life.

Keeping his powerful jaws clamped down on my pussy, he penetrated me with his finger. Slurping and smacking noises filled my ears as he slid his finger in and out. I placed my hands on either side of his head, gripping his hair for support, my whole body shuddering.

He started alternating between sliding his finger inside me, and rubbing my clit with his thumb. It was like he was strumming a guitar, working his dexterous fingers like a pro until I began to see stars. I could hardly stand it, my limbs contracting and shuddering.

I could already begin to feel a fiery tempest of pleasure building inside of me, and it grew faster and more powerful with each passing second.

Mason looked up at me, his eyes blazing with intensity as he used his powerful jaws and lips to bore down on my clit with incredible force.

My thighs started to tremble uncontrollably, and I let out a loud yell as I came all over his fingers and in his mouth.

Mason was relentless, and he kept his mouth clamped down on me, eagerly taking everything I had while I was rocked by jolt after jolt of pleasure.

When it was over, he stood up and grinned at me, his full lips glistening. There was pure confidence in his gaze, as if he knew he’d just given me something I would never forget.

“You weren’t lying,” I groaned, my thighs still quivering like Jell-O. “You really can do amazing things with those hands.”

Mason took his right forearm and slowly wiped the juices that he couldn’t lick up from his lips. “They’re good for more than slaving away on a keyboard.”

I glanced down at my legs, which wouldn’t stop trembling. I hadn’t fully came down yet, and I wasn’t sure how long it’d take for me to be ready — I’m sure Mason wasn’t quite done with me yet. “I don’t even know if I can stand yet.”

Mason growled, “If you can’t stand from that, you’re about to be bed-ridden after I’m done with you.”

My heart began pounding at his threat, just as it started to get a rest. I knew what was coming next, but I was still taken aback by the primal lust that raged in his face.

I knew then he was preparing to ravage me like some savage beast, and there was nothing I wanted more.
