“Of course,” I tell her, blinking away my tears. I know Charlotte will never be a replacement for Jocelyn, but she’s a good friend. A true friend. Like someone else I know.

I wipe my eyes, collecting myself, then go upstairs to call Evan. I think I’ll be joining him for dinner tonight after all.
