So Brand had bought her another ring. A pang of regret pierced Clea. “I wish—” She broke off.

“What do you wish?”

She shook her head. “It's not important.” This moment did not deserve to be tainted.

Metal slid along her finger, fitting perfectly. Clea glanced down.

She blinked in disbelief.

Three plaited strands of gold gleamed on her finger. “Brand!”

“I checked with museum security—”

“—they didn't have it.” Clea completed his sentence. “I know, because that was the first place I asked. Where did you find it?”

“A Japanese woman turned it in at the police precinct closest to the museum.” He grinned down at her. “Lucky I thought to check.”

Clea remembered the curious faces of the tourists in the west wing gallery that day. “I will be forever indebted to her.” She brushed her hand against the rise of her stomach. “It belongs to our family.”

“Our family,” he agreed, his arms settling around her shoulders. “You, me and the baby.”

“Don't forget I want five boys,” she breathed against his mouth, and Brand laughed softly. “They're going to have you wanting to disappear for another four years…”

“Never.” He leaned against the solid trunk of the tree and drew her up against his chest. “I think those five sons will keep me too busy to go anywhere!”

Brand was home.
