Clutching his wounds, Richard jogged to his Humvee and drove away, not knowing where he was going. He knew he had to get far away because when the truth of what he did became known; he would be hunted to the ends of the earth. He tried his best not to think of his children and all of the people that gave their lives for the survival of mankind. He dared not mourn their deaths because to do so would mean his own. Richard drove until he found pavement and pulled the vehicle over. He retrieved the first-aid kit and tended the wounds he so richly deserved. When he was behind the wheel again, he thought of the world he created and for reasons unknown to him, found redemption. It would be a very long time before man would have the ability to destroy itself. The world ahead would be dark but Richard vowed to bring back the light. He didn’t know how he would do it, but every breath he drew from this moment on would serve one purpose.
He was going to resurrect Hal.
