Amelia was meant to be his final gift to his grandfather. A sort a promise to Stanley that the future of the grandson he doted on was secure. Instead somehow she became Stanley’s gift to him.

Ed turned to the woman at his side and something in her eyes said she understood exactly what he was feeling in that moment. Just then the Reverend began reading from the book of Genesis. Standing beside Amelia considering all the love and joy and life they had yet to experience…Suddenly, the cold didn’t seem so bad.
