He gave her a strange smile. “More than you could possibly guess.”

“So, you’re saying I’m not alone?”

He reached out and took her hand, and gave it a squeeze. “That’s exactly what I’m saying.”

She smiled. “Well, I guess that makes me feel better. I just wish we knew what to do about it.”

“We could run off to Paris, leave right now.”

“Very funny,” she said, with a laugh.

He wasn’t laughing, though.

“What, seriously?”

“You know, we get so caught up in our lives, these little circles that we run around in, the cycles of days and weeks and years. Sometimes we forget that we need to shake things up, dream great dreams, dare to take risks. If you want to change your life, then do it.”

The very thought took her breath away, and suddenly for the first time in her life, she truly envied her brother Kyle. His entire life was about the adventure, living the big moments, chasing the great dreams, and daring to take the risks others only wished they could. Then, another thought surprised her. Maybe someday she’d be more like him. Maybe that wouldn’t even be a bad thing.

“You know, Kyle’s never found treasure,” she said.

“And Kyle’s never solved murders or tangled with international art thieves,” Jeremiah pointed out.

“Or been kidnapped. Twice. Who would have thought it? My life might just be more exciting than his,” she said with a grin.

“Excellent!”

“What about you? What secret dreams do you entertain?” she asked.

He hesitated, then gave her a big smile. “What can I say? Everything I want in the world is right here.”
