Chapter 12

It was late Sunday morning and she woke up with the sun streaming in through the window.

He was up, shaved and showered, she could smell the remains of Hugo Boss and Linx wafting around the room and the delicious smell of toast mingling in with it.

She sat up a little as he came in with a tray and stood next to the bed.

“Awww, breakie in bed? You're such a sweetie.”

“It's only toast and Marmite. I hope you like Marmite, because I do.”

“So I see… How many jars did you put on?”

“Oh ha ha...”

“I love it, give it here.”

She got comfortable against the pillows as he placed the tray on her lap and kissed her good morning as he sat down.

“That red hair's a shocker in the daylight, honey. The pink's almost luminous.”

“Maybe I'll go platinum blond,” she said, picking up a red strand and examining it thoughtfully.

“No, don't you dare... I mean it. I like the red. It's as sexy as hell.”

They sat munching their toast and sipping tea and orange juice, side by side.

He picked up the empty tray and placed it on the chest of drawers.

“I've been busy while you were asleep. I had to go out and get something. A little something I hope you'll like.”

“You've been shopping for presents? At eleven on a Sunday morning?” She was impressed.

“I've been up since eight actually... despite the hangover.”

He left the room and went downstairs, returning with a deep pink box, with a pretty red bow on top.

Well it's the wrong shape and size for perfume or earrings...

“Richer... you've not been in that shop again, have you?” she asked suspiciously. Not that she minded what he bought her anymore. Something buzzy might be fun.

“Come on, open it...” he said quietly, with his unreadable face on again.

She opened it up with an excited heart and fingers and then stared silently at the confusing contents.

A red dog lead and a small collar sat inside. It looked like it might fit her wrist or ankle, just about. It sat on top of a red tartan blanket next to a tiny bow.

“You want me to wear a lead, like a dog?”

Her head spun. He was getting more and more kinky by the day.

He chuckled loudly. “Well that didn't occur to me in fact... But now you come to mention it...”

She thumped his arm and tutted. She didn't think that kind of submission would be her thing.

He gave her a hot kiss. “Back in a sec...” He said and stood up, leaving the room, going downstairs.

As she looked at her present, she was more confused than ever. But when he came back her heart flipped every which way.

He has carrying a tiny Yorkshire terrier puppy in his hands, and it was so cute she fell in love with it, instantly.

He put the pup on her lap and they looked at each other adoringly.

“Meet Tiger. He has a very long pedigree name, but Tiger's in there somewhere.”

“Awwww Rick. He's so sweet. And he's really mine?”

“If you both promise to live here together. I'm kind of attached already. Which is odd, because I like big dogs normally... But this little fella has got to me, somehow...” His voice trailed off as he stoked the tiny dog's head with his fingertip.

He looked up, their eyes locked, and her heart fluttered wildly in her chest.

She just couldn't hold it in...

A gush of love burst forth and out of her mouth.

“Oh God Rick, I love you, love you, love you.” She dragged his head towards her for a long loving kiss.

“And I love you, love you, too...” he finally replied, smiling from ear to ear.

“Only two times,” she pouted.

“Ten times, but I'm verbally retarded in that sense.”

“This is the best day ever.” She sighed in contentment as she picked Tiger up and nuzzled his soft fluffy head. He yawned far too widely and squeaked beautifully.

“The Hilton was my best day ever, despite the unpromising start. That's when I fell slap bang in love with you.”

“You literally were slapped and banged,” she laughed, giving him another little kiss.

She stroked Tiger's teeny velvety ears and tickled his little chin.

“He's eight weeks old. Just a little baby. You need to sort out all his vet stuff and get him insured. I'm trusting you to do it all. And he's more precious than a diamond earring, so try not to lose him, sweetheart, okay?” he grinned.

She laughed and got up and walked around the bedroom, naked, with him in her hands.

“He's adorable. And I love him already.” She cuddled him close, burying her nose in his puppy scent. “Oh look... I think he's tired, he keeps yawning. Has he got a bed?”

“I'll go get it.”

He returned with a tiny basket, which was almost as cute as Tiger himself. She put the tartan blanket inside and popped him in it on the floor. He curled up, closed his eyes and went straight to sleep. Her heart melted completely over the two hot men in her life.

“Awww, he's just too cute. I love him. Now then you, come here,” she said, pulling Richer close. “I want to say thank you and I love you. All day long.”

They'd come a long way together in a short space of time and she felt they still had a long way to go. But love was stronger than class, money and petty differences.

There was nothing she wanted more in life than him.

She knew it, and now he knew it.

He made her come alive and sparkle with love in his presence.

She was his own, raw diamond and he'd graded her A class. He'd managed to look past all her faults, her insecurity and her inferiority complex and still loved what he saw, all that was the real her, inside...

What more could she possibly want?
