This had to stop. Right now. And there
was only one way he could think of to get her to shut up. It was time to accept
his loses and turn the tide of the battle to minimize the damage on his side.

“Callie.” He threaded his hand into her
hair just behind one ear and clenched the back of her skull with enough
pressure to let her know he had control.

She glanced up at him, and the
acceleration of her heartbeat filled his ears, drowning out everything around
him but her.

Theo lowered his head and kissed her,
the first woman he’d held in his arms in five hundred years. Her taste on his
tongue when she opened to him exploded and overwhelmed his control. He ground
his mouth on hers, desperate to get closer, to crawl inside her and soak up her
carefree joy. She tasted like sunshine and water, the dew in a meadow on a
summer morning, sweet honey, and the scent of tiny wild roses.

The kiss did its job. It shut her up,
got her to stop commentating on the very public sex not twenty-five feet away,
but it came with a price. His dick sprung so hard in his pants he had to grit
his teeth against the surge of pain.

He gripped her by the ass and picked her
up off the ground. Her strong fingers dug into his hair, tugging on the long
strands trailing onto his collar. She mewled in frustration, long legs twining
around his waist. Callie undulated her hips on him, and he almost burst.

Somehow he made it into the alley on the
opposite side of his brother and Petra. The damn skirt she wore tangled between
their torsos, and he ripped it up the front. She bit his lip as he withdrew,
eager to taste the bounty she’d teased him with only minutes before.

The tank top slid over her belly and
breasts with ease, and he sank his teeth into the crest of one mound, then the
other. He licked his way around her nipples. Despite her height and curves, she
weighed little, allowing him to support her with one hand while he unfastened
the button on his pants.

Firm thighs clenched under his palm as
he skimmed his way under her skirt and discovered bare, hot, wet, flesh.

“You bad, bad girl. No panties?” He
licked her earlobe, and then nibbled it. “That’s so fucking sexy.”

The sound of flesh colliding behind him
added to the cacophony of Callie’s whimpers. He circled her clit, and then
inserted his finger to the knuckle. A few quick pumps and she rode his hand,
using her forearms on his shoulder for support.

He had to be inside her, now.

“No, don’t stop,” she complained.

He grasped his cock by the base and
guided it toward her opening. “I’m not stopping. I’m giving you something
better.” The slick heat of her pussy drove him to push forward, but he moved
with care. The tight clench of her walls around his finger suggested caution.
“Damn, you’re so small and tight.”

“Theo, now. All the way.” She wriggled
until half of his dick plunged inside. “Oh, so good.”

“Stop.” The muscles in his face ticked
as he ground his molars together. His fingers burrowed into her hip. “I don’t
want to hurt you.”

“I’m not a virgin, Theo.” Their stares
met and held. “I like it hard. I’m ready for you. Don’t hold back.”

Oh, gods.

She held him in place and thrust her
tongue into his mouth. He secured her back to the wall with his arm fully
behind her, protecting her from the brick as much as possible, and rolled his
hips forward hard until every inch of his cock was encased in her pussy.

They both groaned. He began to fuck her
the way she wanted, spurred on by her nails in his shoulders and her teeth in
his neck and lips. The harder he moved into her, the better she liked it. Soon,
all he could hear was the slap of their bodies meeting and each exhalation into
the shared air between them.

She played with her clit as he fucked
her, and he broke away from her kisses to watch. Seeing a woman bold enough to
seek her release turned him on even more. When her pussy walls rippled around
his cock and she threw her head back in orgasm, the sensation spread through
his body until it settled in his lower back and weighed his balls down, shooting
out of his dick in four, hard jerks. His cum jetted into her channel, and he
gasped for breath.

Callie rested her head on his shoulder,
her arms limp around his neck.

He pressed a kiss to her head, wrinkling
his nose at the smell clinging to her hair.

“Why does your hair smell like ammonia?”

“Petra made me dye it. She thought my natural
color would stand out too much.” She licked his neck where it met with his
torso.

He should set her down, get his dick out
of her. But it felt too damn good to be like this, joined together. He grimaced
at the indent his forearm left in the brick wall behind her. Fuck, he’d pounded
her so hard he’d crushed the wall.

“Did I—”

The moment broke when an amused chuckle
rang out behind him.

“Damn, big brother, I didn’t know you
had it in you.”

Chapter Three

Callie nuzzled her face into Theo’s
neck, inhaling the smell of soap and stone that wafted from him. How long had
it been since the last time she’d been with someone who made love so fiercely?
With so much need and want and abandon? Had she ever?

His shoulders stiffened beneath her
hands when his brother called out, and she wished she could slap the other man.

“I should…uh… Just give me a moment and—”
The gray swirls in his chocolate-brown irises stuttered and died as he shifted
her weight.

“It’s okay, Theo.” She shot a look of
pure venom over his shoulder at his brother and Petra. Petra paused in
smoothing her shirt when she caught the look and took Logan by the elbow. The
amusement on his face gave way to confusion then contrition.

“We’ll wait for you over there.” Petra
gave her a reassuring smile.

She nodded, grateful for the way that
her sister walked Theo’s twin away. His fingers dug into her ass for a moment,
and he lifted her as he withdrew. An involuntary hiss escaped her lips when the
tip of his cock slid out.

“Shit, I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt
you. Damn it. I knew better.” He lowered her to her feet and grasped her waist
with one hand. A red haze flashed through his eyes. He hit the wall to the left
of her face with the flat of his fist.

Bits of masonry showered her collar, and
she ducked to the side, away from the falling rocks. “You didn’t hurt me, not
really. And I’m mostly immortal. I’ll be fine in a minute.”

The violence of the strike startled her,
but the pain in his eyes, the lines bracketing his mouth, kept her from shoving
him away.

“Hey, Theo, you okay?” Logan called from
the mouth of the alley, the laughing undertone gone from his voice.

Callie adjusted his pants and tucked him
back inside, buttoned the waist band and did up his zipper. “Tell him you’re
fine.” She kissed his cheek and wrapped her arms around his chest, snuggling in
close.

Harsh breaths rasped in and out of his
lungs.

“Theo?”

“Callie?” Petra’s call overlapped
Logan’s.

“I’m great, Petra. Coming to New York
was your best idea ever.” She angled her face and winked at her sister-nymph. A
smile split Petra’s face. She nodded once and tugged on Logan’s hand, taking
the hint.

A low toned argument broke out between
the pair, but Callie couldn’t hear well enough to understand their words. She
petted Theo’s hair and trailed kisses over his jaw, following her instincts.
The pain he held inside radiated through the set of his mouth and body to the
tense fingers on her waist. Theo was a stranger, but she felt compelled to
offer him comfort that had nothing to do with sex and release.

He cleared his throat. Blunt callused
fingers adjusted her tank top until her breasts were covered by the flimsy
material. “I’m fine, Logan. Take the girl to the museum like she wants. You’re
not officially on duty until nightfall.”

Callie studied his face and tried to
memorize the heat of his palms on her skin. The argument between Logan and
Petra continued, and Theo ground his fingers into the wall, breaking little
pieces of brick off.

“I said, I’m fine.” The cords in his
neck stood out, he took a deep breath, and when he released it, he relaxed his
hands to his side and stepped away from her.

Even in the heat of the summer day, a
cool draft blasted her front and teased the edges of her torn skirt. The
temperature change caused by his absence bothered her. To hell with that. She
grabbed the front of his shirt and hauled him off balance and into her body.

The grey swirls she liked so much
reappeared in his eyes, and he snorted in amusement.

“See, Logan? I told you they’re okay.
Let’s go.” Petra blew her a kiss, yanked on the big male, and set her heels to
the pavement. Logan was in for a surprise when Petra decided to get pushy. He’d
end up soaked and frozen into a big stone icicle if he kept it up.

“Call me if you need me, big brother.”

Theo raised his hand in a farewell wave,
his attention centered on Callie’s face. She smiled and moved in for a kiss,
keeping her eyes open and studying his features. His lips were firm, the upper
one on the thin side, but still infinitely kissable. When his tongue snaked out
and traced the pout of her lower lip, she shivered.

A tiny scar ran parallel to his right
eyebrow, with more white dots and dashes radiating across his forehead to
disappear into his hairline on that side above his ear.

“How’d you get the Morse Code on your
face like that?

“Occupational hazard. The London Blitz
was a shitty time to be in Great Britain.” He brushed his hand off on the leg
of his jeans and color rose in his cheeks. “I’m sorry about your skirt. And the
wall. And fucking you so hard—”

She stopped him with one finger on his
mouth. “We’ve already been over this. I told you that I wanted it. You gave me
what I asked for. Hush.” The skirt was beyond repair, ripped all the way to the
waist band up the front. “You do however owe me a new skirt. I’m positively
indecent. Feel.”

Before he could stop her, she used his
hand to cup her sex.

He sucked in a breath. “You have got to
be the strangest females I’ve ever met.”

“I’ve never been called strange before.”
She released his shirt front and huffed. “Sexy, fun, obstinate…but never
strange.”

Strong fingers untied the scarf around
her waist, and he adjusted it to cover her nakedness. “I didn’t mean it as an
insult.” He met her gaze, and then shifted his eyes away again. “You’re very beautiful.
Perhaps the sexiest woman I’ve ever seen. Definitely the sexiest I’ve ever… Shit,
I suck at this. I’ve never met someone like you. It’s made me off balance.”

“Hmph.” She tucked her hair behind her
ear, not ready to let him off the hook.

“Is your natural color blue?” The war  m
breadth of his chest collided with her arm as he side stepped around her.

Tugs radiated into her scalp and she
ducked away. “What are you doing?”

Men touching her hair was nothing new,
the thick mass waved down her back to her waist. For some reason it attracted
them like kittens to catnip.

“Getting rocks out of your hair.”

More pulls on the strands radiated into her
scalp, but this time the heat of fingertips rasped over the nape of her neck,
to her back, then to the top of her ass.

“Oh.”

He continued to finger comb the locks
and she relaxed into the sensation. Poseidon hadn’t bothered to brush her hair
in centuries, and the guards never had time. Any hook-ups with one of the males
assigned to watch over the nymphs happened in a flurry of hands and mouths. No time
for cuddling or closeness.

She leaned into him. “Yes.”

The ministrations paused.

“Blue. It’s naturally blue.” She peered
over her shoulder at him. Theo had a mass of hair captured in one hand.

“I wish I’d seen it that way.” He
stroked the skin below one eye with a knuckle. “With your extraordinary eye
color, it would truly be something to behold.”

A swell of sharp edged tenderness
crested in her chest.

“Eh, I’m alright.” She stepped away from
him, the strands of hair flowing through his hand to flop down. “Thank goodness
I didn’t have to dye my eyebrows too. At least they just look black. You should
have seen us trying to get the dye to stick to my hair. It was a cluster fuck
right up there with the time Hera came to visit and found Zeus fucking four of
my sister-nymphs in the small breakfast room.”

A surprised chuckled erupted from him. He
shook his head, and cast his stare to the mouth of the alley. “That’s uh…hmmm.
The ways of the Olympians have long puzzled me.”

“Yeah. Well, it’s no secret they have a
relationship founded on drama. Not everyone is like that.” She fluffed her hair
and wished she’d thought to bring a hair clip of some kind. The back of her
neck was getting hot and sweaty.

Theo tugged on her shirt, making some
minute adjustment. The grey spirals of color chased across his irises and
affection warmed her. The cold, grumpy veneer the grotesque initially presented
her with was wearing off. “Your friend is off with my brother. What do you plan
on doing now?”

“I don’t know. I’m not here for the same
reason as Petra.” She walked toward the street with him falling into step
beside her.

“Ah.” The weight of his presence next to
her was too damn comfortable, but he didn’t seem to have any intention of
leaving. “What reason would that be then?”

“She asked me to come with her.” They
turned to the left when they reached the sidewalk with some kind of unspoken
agreement. “I don’t think it’s possible to find true love in three days. So I
came along to keep her company and have some fun until I have to go back to the
harem.”

A sharp pain twisted in her gut and a
lump formed in her throat. Saying the words out loud hurt. Thinking them hadn’t
bothered her, but giving them voice clenched her stomach into a knot.

“How does a nymph with carte blanche to
do whatever she likes have fun?” He guided her around a crowd of teenagers
clumped together in the middle of the sidewalk with one hand on her lower back.

“Hmmm…well she gets a hot dog from
Nathan’s Famous. Then she buys a scarf from a shop because it matches her
hair.” She flipped the lower edge of the article at him and he clamped it down
on her thigh with a censuring look. A giggle escaped at the scandal on his
face. “Then the nymph drags a poor unsuspecting grotesque into an alley and has
her wicked way with him.”

“You do love to display yourself.” A low
chuckle slipped out and he tucked her hand into his elbow. Probably to keep her
from flashing again. “What would you like to do now?”

“Well, I don’t know. My sister abandoned
me.” She batted her eyelashes at him and bumped her hip into his. Flirting she
understood. Flirting gave her steady ground. Getting personal and snuggly with
him in the alley had started to propel them down a path she wasn’t ready for.
“I think I could use a shower.”

“Hmm, me too. Some saucy wench doused me
with muddy water from a puddle.”

She clamped her lips together to swallow
her laugh, but when his chest shook and he released the suppressed laughter,
she giggled too.

“Well, take me to your place. We can get
cleaned up and then go out.”

“Go out? Where?”

A frown creased her forehead, and she
glanced over at him from the corner of her eye. “You’re the one who lives here,
not me. How would I know?” She poked him in the belly. “I think you’ve
forgotten how to have fun. So, I’m going to show you.”

A snort sounded beside her, and she’d
bet her right boob he’d rolled his eyes. Grumpy Theo re-emerging. “Great. Just
what the world needs. A nymph on a day pass with a grotesque chauffeuring her
around.”

“It’s a weekend pass, sweetie.” She
gathered her hair over one shoulder and blew a kiss to a tall, muscular, blond
heading in the opposite direction.

Theo growled. “Don’t flirt with
vampires. They’re dangerous.”

“That was a vamp? Cool. He sure is tan
for someone who is supposed to be only allowed out at night.” She walked
backward for a few feet until he forced her to spin back around. The blond in
question had spun as well, and when he smiled at her, the flash of a fang
showed under his upper lip.

“That’s a myth created to pacify
humans.” He paused, peered over his shoulder at the retreating vampire, and
growled.

The vampire executed a half bow and
disappeared from sight. Crap, Theo’d scared him away. What the hell?

“In fact, don’t flirt with anyone while
you’re with me.” A red sheen coated the brown of his irises before he crowded
her.

The statement startled her, and she
retracted her hand. Ice stole over her demeanor. “Theo, don’t get possessive.
I’m a nymph, and I belong to someone else. I’m leaving in two days.”

His chest heaved, and he pinched the
bridge of his nose, muttering under his breath about stupidity. She waited,
ready to stalk off and find someone else to entertain her if she had to.

He reclaimed her hand, tucked it back
into his elbow. “I apologize. Overdriven protection instincts. Won’t happen
again.”

“Good.” The lump in her throat tried to
choke her again, but she melted it with the knowledge that Theo, New York—the
life and energy of the city—the silver-grey swirls in his eyes, and the pain
she knew she’d helped abate in his heart were all temporary. “Now, if you
really want to see my natural hair color, take me to your castle.”

“Castle?”

She hugged his arm. “You’re like a
knight errant with his victory spoils.”

His muscles bunched under her palm. “And
you’re the fair maiden I’ve captured to take back to my bed chamber and ravage?
Defiling your virginity with my virile attentions?”

They both burst into laughter.
