Rodney saw Claire slumped over, not even in her seat and she was unconscious. Rodney located the car’s lock button and, switching it off, he opened the door. Thankfully none of the glass had hurt Claire; all the shards landed harmlessly on the backseat where Claire would have been sitting. Rodney gently scooped Claire up and returned her to his car. She had some weight to her but Rodney wasn’t struggling. Rodney went back to the car to check if anything that Claire would want still remained over there. Her purse was lying on the car floor; good thing he came back.

In the distance, he heard the sounds of sirens coming nearer. Everything had gone according to his plan. Now he could drop Claire at her house and get the rest he so needed after his exhausting day.

CHAPTER SEVEN

Rodney drove into Claire’s driveway, only then realizing that he didn’t know where her keys were. They had to be inside her purse. Rodney smiled, musing on how things would go if Claire were to wake up at the sight of him sifting through the contents of her purse. Oh, how crazy this day had been! All that mattered to him now, though, was that Amish was in police custody and Claire was unharmed, that was it.

He fished out Claire’s keys and balanced her with one hand while he opened her home door. Claire’s home was spacious and well decorated inside. Oil paintings lined the walls of the hallways and the floor was green marble. After mistakenly walking into the dining room, Rodney found her living room and laid her down on a sofa. He glanced at the time on his phone while he turned away to leave. It was 11:40 p.m.

“You’re leaving without saying goodbye?”

Rodney heard Claire’s voice behind him. He turned around and knelt down beside her face.

“How are you feeling?” He asked.

“Like if I hadn’t stormed out on you like a jerk, maybe I wouldn’t have had to have that creep touch me.” She replied.

“He touched you?” Rodney asked incredulously and put his hands over his head.

“No,” Claire blushed embarrassed.

“He grabbed my hair.”

“Oh, is your scalp bleeding at all?”

“How would I know? Even if I had eyes at the back of my head I wouldn’t see the blood.” She replied sarcastically.

“Fair enough,” Rodney shifted his head awkwardly.

“I was just playing Rodney. But I can’t believe you’re so self-centered,” Claire growled.

Before Rodney could respond, she interrupted.

“I’m still joking, silly. How did you even know to follow us?”

“I saw his face and he came way too early to be a normal taxi driver,” he replied.

“You came for me, my hero. Any other guy would run in the other direction and pray that Amish would never see them again. I misjudged you, I think. I’m sorry Rodney.”

“And I really think that you did misunderstand me.”

“Oh?”

“I am and was always interested in you romantically. I just didn’t want to show it right away. I guess I am a bit of a coward, in a way,” Rodney mumbled.

Claire grabbed his face, pulling it right in front of hers before kissing him. She invaded his mouth with her tongue, intertwining it with his. Rodney enjoyed every bit of it as he rolled on top of her, unbuttoned her shirt and unhooked her bra. Claire moaned as he caressed her soft, ample breasts, massaging them with his strong, smooth hands. His fingertips circled her nipples, pinching them gently, causing another moan to escape her lips.

Claire could feel his manhood hardening against her thigh. She unzipped his pants, freeing his erection, and stroking his member with her hands. Rodney moaned his excitement in her ear, before licking it with his tongue and nibbling on the lobe. Claire pulled his shirt up over his head and ran her hands all over his chest and muscular arms. Rodney moved from her ear, to her neck, and then down to her breasts, licking her nipples and suckling them, hungrily. Claire panted and sighed in pleasure, running her hands through his hair.

Rodney unbuttoned her pants and she raised her hips so he could pull them off and toss them to floor. He spread her legs wide and his mouth found her clitoris as he began to suck…gently at first and then faster and harder as Claire’s moans and cries of pleasure grew louder and closer together. Her whole body tensed and she cried out in passion as she reached her climax, grabbing his head and grinding her crotch against his face. Rodney kissed his way back up her body to her mouth and they both shared in the taste of her arousal.

“Please fuck me,” Claire crooned, her voice drunk with desire.

She didn’t have to tell him twice. Rodney hurriedly removed his pants and threw them to floor. He spread her legs, again and looked down at her fully exposed mound, dripping with the juices of her orgasm. He entered her slowly, closing his eyes and moaning with pleasure. Then, he sped up his rhythm, thrusting into her, hard and fast as Claire bit her lip and scratched his back, begging him for more. He fucked her to another orgasm, and as her walls tightened around him, it sent him over the edge. He shot his load deep inside of her and collapsed onto her, burying his face in her neck as his member throbbed inside of her. Slowly, they drifted off to sleep together.

The next morning when Rodney woke up, he quickly rolled off the sofa and put back on his clothes. Claire was lying fast asleep on the sofa and Rodney could understand that after all the stuff that she’d gone through. He leaned over her and kissed her. His last kiss before he would leave. Apparently, Claire had other ideas because her arms came around Rodney’s neck securely.

“Going somewhere?” She questioned him, smugly.

“I didn’t want to wake you up,” Rodney admitted.

“Well, now you’re not going anywhere,” Claire smiled teasingly at Rodney.

“Let me make us some breakfast, even though it will probably mean emptying the whole fridge for you.”

Claire paused right before putting her bra on which was fine by Rodney. She gave herself a face palm.

“Of course, why don’t we wash up first?” she suggested.

“Care for a shower?” he asked.

CHAPTER EIGHT

The aromas of freshly baked muffins, pancakes, grilled bacon, cooked sausages, and hash browns filled the kitchen. Coffee was brewing as well. It wasn’t Claire alone doing all of the cooking; he’d been helping her where he could and trying not to get into her way. They loaded the food onto platters and serving bowls and set the table up.

“We should do this more often,” Rodney suggested.

“You mean everything that happened since yesterday evening or last night? Because for everything that happened since last night could start getting pretty freaky, especially with that Amish guy. That could get a bit risky.”

“Since just last night, I mean.”

Claire blushed.

“I wouldn’t mind that, but let’s take things more slowly from now on.”

Rodney nodded, a bit disappointed.

“Well, let’s eat.”

“So, have you decided what you’re going to say to Jon?”

Rodney looked her straight in the eye.

“Yes and I’d love for you to join me when I tell him my decision.”

“Why?”

“You’ll see. By the way, you might be the best manager I’ve ever had.”

Claire shrugged.

“I guess so, even though I’ve given you very little to no advice at all so far”

“I love how humble you’ve become as of late,” Rodney sarcastically praised.

They finished eating and watched a comedy movie in the den. Although the movie made them cringe with laughter, when the credits began to roll, they knew it was time to return to real life.

“Isn’t it about time that we go to Jon’s house to tell him your decision?” Claire reminded Rodney

Suddenly Rodney was all business.

“Let me call before we go.” He said in a low tone.

Rodney called to let Jon know they’d be coming by in around 15 minutes and Jon said that was fine by him. Rodney knew that breaking the news to Jon would be emotional but in his heart he knew he was making the right decision. If he ever had kids, how could he set a decent example for them as he fought others for a career? There was no way he would want to be known as a man that sent people who wouldn’t stay out of his way into hospitals. Rodney had lived that lifestyle and didn’t want anything like that anymore.

It was with a heavy heart that he left the house, dreading every step that had to be taken. Claire pressed into Rodney from behind him and lovingly touched his cheek.

“Come on,” she said gently, “let’s get going.”

Rodney listened and they both got into the Bugatti.

“You must be cruel to keep making me sit in this car and expect me to be able to go back to using regular transportation in the future.”

Claire’s attempt at humor was met with just a tight, nervous smile from the large man.

Ten minutes later, Jon’s mansion loomed up in front of them with a towering ten-foot tall, wrought iron gate surrounding the house and grounds. They slipped out of the car and stopped at the locked gate doors. A camera was perched on the top of the gate with a small microphone and button for talking into.

Rodney simply shouted at the camera,

“It’s me, open up Nix!”

The gates slowly swung open and Rodney saw Claire’s eyes widening at the sight she saw. Roses, violets, chrysanthemums, and daisies were assorted neatly in a semicircle around the mansion. Gargoyles seemed to be inserted in random spots in the garden. Rows of trees flanked the colossal structure. In the middle of the garden was a marble fountain, spewing clear water high in the air. It was almost melodic in the silence. That was until Jon barreled through the front door. He jogged toward them, narrowly missing a few of his own flowers until he came to a stop a few feet from them.

“Nice entrance, man,” Rodney said sarcastically.

“Thanks, I’ve been working on it ever since you called.”

The two men both had a good laugh at that and then Rodney became serious once again. After today, he hoped that they would still be friends, always making excuses to enjoy each other’s company. That possibility depended on how well Jon took the news that Rodney had for him. So far so good, Jon looked to be in a gleeful mood.

“Jon, meet my . . . girlfriend, Claire. Claire, this is my training partner and friend, John.”

Claire raised her eyebrows at Rodney when he said girlfriend and he knew he was going to be bashed later on for that.

“Nice to meet you, Claire,” Jon politely greeted.

“Likewise,” Claire returned.

“Claire, Rodney’s told me so much about you.”

“Really?” Claire asked in a clueless tone.

“No but it just felt like the right thing to say to fill up the awkward silence that follows after introductions when no one knows what else to say.”

A laugh escaped Claire’s mouth.

“He is literally just as goofy as you!” She said to Rodney.

Rodney shrugged.

“Who knows? Maybe that is where I get my goofiness from.”

Jon smiled, taking the statement as a compliment.

“Let’s get inside or would you guys like to sit on the patio out back?” Jon asked.

The sky was a cloudless, clear blue.

“The porch sounds fine,” Claire approved.

The trio walked all the way around the house and stepped underneath the shade of the patio. The sun wasn’t too strong but when they found shelter, Jon felt much better.

The backyard stretched out in all directions as far as the eye could see and a small hangar lay far ahead. Jon gestured for them to take their seats at the patio table. Claire’s focus still remained on the hangar in the far distance.

“What’s in there?” She asked, unable to control her curiosity.

“My private jet. On the other end of my property is a runway that I use. You guys want something to drink?”

Jon pressed a button next to the back door of the house and yelled,

“Nix, can you prepare lemonade or fruit punch for our guests?”

Rodney appreciated that Jon was casually talking about his wealth like it was nothing. He’d grown up from a normal family. If there was one thing that Rodney knew about kids who’d worked hard for an indulging lifestyle, it was that they bragged about everything. Jon hadn’t turned out like that and neither had Rodney.
