“You will keep my daughter safe right?”

“I promise we will get her out.” This came from Jewel as she laid her hand on his shoulder. He nodded and turned away so they wouldn’t see the tears well into his eyes.

When he composed himself he turned back around. “So what do you need from me?”

“We need you to make the trade.” Jeremy pulled out his phone and dialed Darrell’s number. He talked to Darrell a couple minutes and looked at Jewel.

“He’s coming in as a customer. He will be here in twenty minutes. Devine if you want us to help save your daughter then you will act normal. Understood? Then I will meet you at the bar in an hour and give you the fake to switch with Max.”

“Got it. What about Jewel? She can’t go on if she is with me.”

“Jewel has the flu.” He looked at her with a grim face.

“Who are you people?”

She stuck out her hand towards Devine. “This is Sheriff Jeremy Stevens and I am NCIS agent Jewel Banks.”

Jeremy saw Darrell as soon as he walked through the door. He slowly made his way to the bar. Sitting on a stool Darrell sat beside him and swapped the tubes under the bar. Darrell nodded to him as he took his drink and went to go sit down at a table towards the front. He sat through two dances then got up and left. Jeremy went to go find Jewel. After finding her he told her about Darrell and they got ready to leave. She snuck out the door and made her way to Devine’s truck hiding underneath the blanket he said he always kept back there. Jeremy got in his truck and drove to the edge of the park. Parking, he slid out of his clothes and transformed.

Devine got in the truck and looked into the glove box where Jeremy had put the vial. Starting the truck he headed to the meeting spot. He pulled up and only had to wait a few minutes before he saw a black van pull up. It pulled long ways in front of him. Two guys jumped out including Max and the driver who came around the other side of the van. All four men had guns pointed in his direction. He looked inside the van to see his daughter with her hands tied behind her back. There were tear tracks down her cheeks. Her ankles were also bound and there was a gag across her mouth.

“Where’s the vial at Devine?”

“My daughter first.”

Max turned around and undid her ankles. Grabbing her by the hair he drug her out of the van.

“Hey asshole.” He held up the vial so Max could see it. “Now hand her over.” Max pushed her towards Devine and held out his hand for the vial. Devine released it to him.

All of a sudden the guns in the hands of the guys were flown to the side. They all looked up to see a massive brown lion walking towards them. Jewel stepped from the truck and walked towards them.

“Max Sterling. You have the right to remain silent. Anything…”

“Get that bitch!” Max screamed in anger. Just then the lion ran to stand in front of her and growled deep in his throat. All of the men took one look and ran to the truck. With a wave of her hand Jewel flattened all the tires. Sirens could be heard in the background. She looked down and pet behind Jeremy’s ears, smiling as he rumbled deep in his chest with pleasure. She froze them all as she walked to the truck and pulled out the clothes she had brought. She turned to look towards Devine when she heard the gasp. His daughter was clutching his shirt in fear as she stared wide eyed at Jewel.

“Don’t worry honey. I’m an agent. I won’t hurt you. Here Jeremy why don’t you get dressed. The girl and Devine watched in shock as Jeremy transformed in front of them and slipped into his jeans and shirt. They heard sirens in the distance and just as they came over the hill she unfroze the men before anyone could see them.

All the men including Max were arrested. After their exclamations of witchcraft and lions they were placed in the psychiatric ward of the hospital with armed guards standing outside their doors. Devine had said thank you and promised his daughter he was going to change his line of work.

“Thank you both. So what’s next?”

“I guess we go home.” said Jewel as she looked at Darrell. She didn’t want to look at Jeremy knowing it would be their last bit of time together. She had a crushing feeling inside and didn’t understand it. She needed to get back home now.

“I’ll call you…”

“Don’t.” Jeremy and Jewel looked at each other and smiled when they yelled it together. Darrell just laughed as he walked away.

They hitched a ride from one of the local cops back to Jeremy’s truck and made their way back to the hotel. When Jeremy shut the door he turned to look at Jewel but her back was to him. He walked up to her and spun her around.

She sniffed and wiped the tears away. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me.”

“I do. Come home with me. My family would love you. We could make this work.”

“Make what work?”

“Us.” He said as he bent down and took her mouth in a light kiss.

“Ok…” She whispered back. “But I get to be in control tonight.”

“Deal baby. You can have tonight. I have from tomorrow on.” He smiled as he picked her up and carried her to the bed.
