I
woke up when I felt some one crawl onto the bed next to me. Brayden’s scent hit
me and I immediately relaxed. It was dark in the room, but I could see the
outline of his body as he climbed on the bed next to me. He was naked. Just the
outline of his perfect body excited me. I could see the outline of his hard
cock. He didn’t say anything as he settled between my legs; he didn’t have too.
I knew what he wanted; I wanted it too. He ran his hand over my belly; then
buried his face in my neck. My pulse quickened when he began to lay gentle
kisses along my neck. He slowly trialed them up my jaw and to my mouth. He
pressed his lips to mine and kissed me aggressively. My body responded to him
and I moaned in anticipation. He slid his hands slowly up my thighs. The
tingling sensations of his hands on my skin overwhelmed me. He ran his fingers
teasingly along my panty line.

“Brayden,”
I moaned against his mouth. He was teasing me, and it was driving me insane.

He
laughed softly, and slowly slid my panties down. “You are so impatient,” he
teased.

I
pressed my mouth to his. “Shut up and make me feel good,” I growled against his
lips.

He
smiled as he gently kissed me. “With pleasure,” he whispered then slowly filled
me with his hard cock.

I
moaned and dug my nails into his back. He felt so good. All my fear and worry
was eased when he touched me like this. He moaned in excitement as he pressed
his lips to mine and slowly began to move against me. I moved my hips meeting
his gently thrusts.  The pleasure clouded my mind and he was all I could
think about. His hungry kisses only excited me more. Pleasure washed over me
and I cried out as I pressed my body against him wanting more. He cried out as
he released. His mouth found mine again and he kissed me aggressively. “Come
stay with me. I will keep you safe,” he whispered.

I
looked at him unsure. I wanted to trust him. I wanted to trust all of them, I
just wasn’t sure if I could. “I don’t know what to do Brayden,” I said quietly.

He
shifted so he was lying next to me. He ran his fingers over my belly and I felt
the babies respond. “I know I haven’t been excited about this whole thing, but
that doesn’t mean I want anything bad to happen to you or them. I knew there
was something different about you the day I met you in the woods.”

I
smiled and snuggled against his chest. I never considered anything serious with
Brayden. He started out as the supposed bad guy when I met him. I only ended up
with him because Dominic was being an ass. Laying here now I was kind of glad
Dominic was an ass.

I
woke up alone. The sun was shining in the window. It was too early for me to be
up, but I had been sleeping for a while. I needed to talk to Maggie. I had very
little time the past couple days to really talk to her. She always seemed to
know what to do. I dressed quickly then paced the room trying to decide which
way to leave. I didn’t really want to alert anyone to the fact that I was
leaving. If I did then they would either try to stop me or try to go with me. I
needed to speak to Maggie alone. I pushed the window open and looked out. I had
left via the roof before; of course last time I was a prisoner. I would just
have to do it again. I quickly scaled the roof and landed in the soft grass
below.

“You
know there is a front door,” Micah said from behind me.

He
startled me; making me cuss as I spun around to face him. “Damn, why do you
always do that?” I hissed.

He
smiled as he watched me. “Why don’t you use the door?”

I
rolled my eyes as I brushed the grass off my jeans. “I want to go alone. I
don’t want to be followed or told I can’t go,” I said impatiently.

He
sighed like he expected me to say it. “I won’t follow or stop you, but you do
realize this is a very bad idea. There is already enough people trying to hurt
you. You shouldn’t be out alone.”

“I
can take care of myself. If I need anyone I will let them know,” I said testily
then started walking toward the tree line.

“You
will eventually realize I am just trying to help you. I have made mistakes, but
so has everyone else. I am just not as quick to tell on everyone,” he said
quietly then disappeared before I could reply.

I
shook my head and took off running toward Maggie’s house. It wouldn’t be long
before it was dark and I really didn’t want to be out after dark.

I
knocked on her door. It had been a while I wasn’t sure if barging in like I did
before would be appropriate. Maggie opened the door and she looked relieved.
“Oh thank god you are alright,” she said hugging me.

I
smiled. “You had to know nothing could get me down,” I said trying to make
light of her serious tone.

“Don’t
get arrogant. That will get you killed,” she chided. She took my hand and
pulled me through the house. She acted like she had a purpose and I was a
little confused.

“What’s
going on Maggie?” I asked confused.

“You
weren’t followed were you?” she asked sounding worried.

I
shook my head even more confused. “No, I wasn’t but…”

“Good.”
She sounded relieved as she pulled me into one of the downstairs rooms. There
were several suitcases and bags packed.

“Maggie
what is going on?” I asked watching her cautiously.

“You
have to leave. It is too dangerous for you here. It seems like everyone has
their own agenda and I am not so sure we can trust anyone anymore,” she said
quickly as she gathered bags.

“Maggie
I can’t just leave. Where will I go?” I was trying to reason with her, but she
seemed pretty determined.

“You
are going with Damon. He will keep you and the babies safe,” she said quietly.

I
looked at her horrified. She had to know I would protest. Damon was worse than
Brayden and Dominic combined. “You want me to go with Damon; Dominic’s
brother?” I knew my tone had gone from normal to high pitched and annoyed.

She
nodded obviously disregarding my protest. “I trust Damon, he has no ulterior
motives as far as I can tell. Right now he is the best option.”

“Maggie,
I don’t even know Damon and maybe staying with Micah…” I started but she cut me
off.

“Micah
involved Elijah. As soon as Elijah realizes Micah is not going to follow
through he will come after you himself. Going with Damon is your only chance.
Damon know how to stay under the radar. Please don’t fight me on this. You came
to me for guidance, this is it. Go with Damon, wait until you hear from me.”
She was pleading with me like she was sure of what she was saying.

I
sighed relenting. “Fine, I’ll go with Damon.”

She
nodded. “He’s here, let’s go,” she ordered as she gathered the bags.

I
was apprehensive, but I followed her out anyway. Damon smiled at me as we
approached his car. It was an older muscle car, and it was a little amusing
because it fit his personality. “So she agreed, that surprises me,” he said
amused.

“She
trusts me and I trust you. You better not let me down boy,” Maggie chided as he
took the bags from her.

He
grinned. “I would never let you down Mags. Come on princess, we need to hit the
road before all three of your boyfriends realize something is up.”

I
looked at Maggie and she smiled at me. I could tell she was trying to encourage
me to leave, but she looked worried. “It will be fine. This will blow over then
you can come home.”

I
nodded and hugged her. “I trust you. I know you are trying to help me,” I said
quietly.

She
nodded and wiped a tear from her cheek. “Go, before it is too late,” she said
ushering me to the passenger side of Damon’s car. I got in the passenger seat
and Damon pulled away from Maggie’s house. As I watched her house disappear. I
hoped Maggie was right. I hoped Damon was a reliable as she seemed to think he
was.

I
watched out the window as Damon drove. Neither of us had spoken since leaving
Maggie’s. It had been almost three hours and it was going by so slowly. I
wasn’t really in a talking mood. Even if I was I wasn’t really sure what to
say.

“Still
mad at me?” he asked teasingly. It was the first time he had spoken and of
course he was going to start a problem.

I
scowled. “For recommending I kill my kids, ya not very happy with you.”

“First
off it was a suggestion not a recommendation,” he countered.

“Please
do tell me the difference,” I said trying to keep the annoyance out of my tone.
I had a feeling he wanted to annoy me.

He
grinned. “A suggestion is just an option. It does not mean I agree with said
option it just means it is available for consideration. A recommendation is a
suggestion I agree with. I was not recommending you see a witch. I was just
suggesting it because it was an option.”

I
rolled my eyes. “Whatever, just know that I am watching you and if you do
anything funny; I will find out.”

“You
can watch me all you like,” he said and winked at me.

I
rolled my eyes. “You are ridiculous,” I muttered and looked back out the
window.

“Are
you hungry because I am stopping for food,” he said as he took an exit. It was
a truck stop and I wasn’t exactly excited about the place. I was suddenly not
really that hungry.

“I’ll
wait in the car,” I said quietly.

“Ya
not going to happen. I hear you have a tendency to run away; and I am under
strict orders not to let you out of my sight,” he said grinning. He parked and
climbed out. He walked over to my side and opened my door.

“I
can’t believe you are going to eat here,” I muttered as I climbed out of the
car. It felt good to stretch my legs.

He
wrapped his arm around my waist and led me toward the entrance. “Some of the
best food in the world is at these little hole in the wall places.”

I
pulled away from him once we were inside. “I am going to the bathroom,” I said
as I walked toward the ladies room. I couldn’t shake my annoyed mood no matter
how hard I tried.

When
I walked back out I spotted him in a booth. He was flirting with the waitress.
I rolled my eyes and walked over to his booth and slid in the seat across from
him. The waitress looked at me then at my belly.

“He’s
a skank, I wouldn’t mess with him,” I said and smiled.

She
looked at him a little horrified then smiled nervously. “I’ll be right back
with your order,” she said and hurried off.

He
scowled at me. “Really, you are going to cock block me after all I am doing for
you?”

I
smiled. “She already made her mind up when she saw my belly. I just went with
it,” I said amused.

He
smiled. “Ok, I’ll take the credit for knocking you up. You are hot enough.”

I
scowled. “You’re a pig.”

“You
will be surprised at how many women dig guys with pregnant girlfriends,” he
said playfully.

I
rolled my eyes. “Whatever. Where are we going anyway?”

“I
am not telling you. It is safer that way.” He sounded like he was trying to
annoy me again.

I
was about to protest, but the waitress came back with his order. He was
grinning as she made a point to lean over him to get him a napkin. She giggled
at everything he said. It was actually extremely annoying. “I’ll be in the
car,” I muttered as I stood.

He
glanced at me and winked. I just rolled my eyes and walked out. I really wasn’t
in the mood for him.

The
cool air hit my face and I relaxed a little. It was perfect outside. It wasn’t
too cold and it wasn’t too hot. I walked back toward Damon’s car. I was worried
about Brayden, Dominic, and Micah. I knew they would be worried about me. If
Maggie thought it was best then maybe they would understand.

A
scuffing noise to my right caught my attention. It was a wolf, one I didn’t
recognize. He was a huge, beautiful gray wolf. He just stood there watching me.
He didn’t look angry or hostile; if anything he looked curious. I was kind of
curious about him. There was something about him that made me trust him. It was
an odd sensation, and I tried to shake it off.

Damon
suddenly tackled the wolf and threw the wolf into a parked car. Damon scrambled
to his feet. He ran to me and grabbed my hand. I wanted to argue as he was
pulling me along behind him, but everything was happening so fast I didn’t get
a chance. He opened the driver’s door and pushed me inside. He climbed in the
seat as soon as I was in. As he pulled away I turned trying to see the wolf,
but he had disappeared.

“Who
was that?” I asked trying to catch my breath.

“One
of Elijah’s crew I am sure,” Damon said as he watched the rearview mirror. He
was on guard now. He was no longer the irritating playful Damon. “You ok?” He
looked me over like he expected me to be injured.

I
nodded. “He never touched me. Who is Elijah? Everyone is talking about him, but
no one will tell me anything.” I was trying to sound calm and collected, but I
was getting irritated with the lack of information. I didn’t think that wolf meant
me any harm. I really didn’t think he had anything to do with Elijah or anyone
trying to hurt me. He could have attacked me and caught me off guard, but he
didn’t.

“Elijah
is bad news. He is the only known vampire that can control werewolf packs. The
birth of these children can change that; which is why he wants them. Not quite
sure what he will do with them, but I can imagine it won’t be good. That is why
Maggie insisted that you leave,” he said as he continued to glance in his
rearview mirror like he thought someone was following us.

“Obviously
it didn’t work because they found us,” I said annoyed.

He
shook his head. “That wolf got lucky. He was probably at the truck stop when he
spotted you. We will just have to be more careful.”

I
closed my eyes and leaned back against the seat. I really didn’t know how much
more careful I could be. I was already running for my life. “This is getting
ridiculous. Maybe I should give up and take your suggestion.”

“No,
it’s too late. They are calling for your death because even if these babies die
you can still have more. They can’t have that so either way they want you
dead,” he said quietly.

“What
happens when they are born? They won’t be able to have a life. What will we do
hide for their entire lives?” I asked angrily. Every way I looked at the
situation ti seemed impossible.

“If
that’s what it takes. Maggie is working on finding a pack that will take you
and the children in once they are born. She isn’t sure if Dominic or Brayden’s
pack is capable of handling the situation. She thinks that if we can keep them
safe until they are born, then the packs will feel differently. There is
nothing we can do about the vampires. Having Micah on our side is a plus, but
he is no match for Elijah,” he said quietly.

I
didn’t know what to say. He was basically saying we would never have a normal
life because of Elijah. I had never heard of Elijah before; then again I was
young and I never got involved in the politics of the pack. “We should talk to
Elijah,” I said softly. I was thinking out loud more than anything and it kind
of came out.

I
could tell by his horrified expression it was a mistake to even suggest. “No!
Hell no! Have you lost your fucking mind?”

“I
am trying to come up with a plan. Running is not a plan. Maybe Elijah can be
reasoned with. If we tell him I am no threat to him then maybe he will call off
the hunt,” I said trying to reason with him.

“Elijah
cannot be reasoned with. He doesn’t look at werewolves like they are equals. He
looks at us like we are slaves and that is exactly what he will use you and
them for. It is a stupid idea and you better stop talking about it,” he
growled.

I
crossed my arms and slouched down in my seat. He was being guided by fear like
the rest of them. I kind of wondered where Elijah even was. It wasn’t like I
could just ask around until I found him.

The
area we were in was dark. We were surrounded by trees and there were no lights
indicating life anywhere. Up ahead a figure darted out into the middle of the
road and stopped. It was the wolf from the truck stop. “Damon stop,” I said
quickly.

“No,
he will kill you if he gets the chance,” Damon growled and pressed the gas
pedal down further.

“He
didn’t try to hurt me,” I argued getting angry. His plan was just to run him
over, and not look back. He didn’t even look at me he just pressed the gas
pedal down. “Damon!” I yelled as we got closer. When he didn’t respond I knew I
had to do something. I reached over and grabbed the steering wheel. I jerked it
hard to the left barely avoiding hitting the wolf. Damon cussed as the car
swerved. The sound of crunching medal and breaking glass filled the air; then
everything went black.
