The silence filled the air until the
crunching of the potato chips snapped him out of the thoughts he
kept having about his lonely patron. He did not see a ring. She
looked young, but did she have kids? What was she like in bed? Hot
and steamy, or cranky and hard to please, probably the latter.
Mentally, he kept telling himself to stay away but other parts of
him were thinking far differently. His head toward the east was in
battle with his head to the west. He had been here before, battle
of lust versus, she is not worth it.

Then the sound of crunching from her eating
the potato chips stopped, and he looked up from his work to her
reflection in the bar mirror. She looked sad. She looked… damn it!
She was crying. He had a very soft spot for a crying woman. He held
his breath and counted to three before turning to blow out the
breath he held and walked towards her. She was already putting her
wallet back in her purse and reaching for her coat. Damn he was a
mouse. He did not have to be so cruel. He could have lent an ear or
at least been more hospitable. He cleared his throat and started to
talk, but then she looked up from buttoning her long black wool
coat, her eyes said it all. Sorry. Sadness. Despair.

Walk away good man
. He toiled with
himself. Thinking how she could easily be trouble with a capital T.
However, the look in her soft green eyes reddened with tears made
him rethink it all over again. It wasn’t worth being a jerk, and he
was pretty damn sure if he let her walk out of his brother's bar in
her condition, some sulky New Yorker will add salt to her
wounds.

His mind felt like it was waging a verbal
internal war against the devil versus angel on his mind. “Hey. Yah.
I.. any ways. Merry Christmas.” Stuttered out of his mouth, without
any true warmth in his words. Then he watched as her tears streamed
down her face. He felt like a schmuck. He practically jumped over
the bar and slide between the bar stools while she had started to
head for the door with her packages practically drooping behind
her.

John knew one thing for sure; he could not
let her leave in this condition. He had to cheer her up. It is the
Most Wonderful Time Of The Year after all.

Chapter Three

She did not know exactly what was causing the
tears to flow. Well actually, she did, however; she really did not
want to face that reality just yet. The reality that things weren’t
all glamorous as she had thought when she left her home and family
in California, for what seemed like a prestigious job and pay for
the bold life of New York. What she would give, for the warmth of
the sun at that moment, to warm her body.

She felt the day had been a loss, and now she
was stuck going out with a loser on Thursday night just to
compensate for her inability to stand up to her new boss and demand
a day off. This working six days a week, ten hours a day, was
killing her. She knew when she took the job it would be demanding,
but after only a month, she had noticed that none of the other male
district sales managers did not work nearly as much as she did.
That and she had just discovered by accident that her district area
was three times the size of all the other guys. She wanted to quit
and go back home to her sister’s place in California but knew
better. She knew she was tough, and she would regret quitting so
quickly.

Her tears were from other emotions that had
just decided to hit the surface as of late and really did not know
if she was emotionally ready to go there. Thinking or rethinking
her career path and plan at this particular time of the year was
not an option or luxury she felt she could have.

The moment, the handsome bartender had his
back turned; she had felt it best to pack up and leave before he
turned and saw her crying. She did not want to lay this emotion on
a total stranger. She had already felt bad for the Grinch like
behavior she displayed when she first came into the bar.

The thud of heavy boots hitting the floor
stopped her, and she turned and looked up from the floor to see the
guy behind the bar coming towards with a sincere look of concern.
Then he touched her. His hand caught her arm, and she was
mesmerized by the feel of his large strong hand gently holding her
arm. She felt her tears stop dripping, and she looked into his eyes
with a world of uncertainty.

“You ok? I mean I can’t let you leave all
sad. Especially when, it’s the ‘most wonderful time of the year’?”
He smiled and looked up to see that they were under the mistletoe.
What better way to cheer a lady up than with a sincere, warm and
friendly, holiday kiss. As he looked back down, he saw that his
eyes looking up at the mistletoe had directed hers into the same
spot. Then she looked back down from the mistletoe, stopping at his
eyes. She seemed almost mesmerized, as her lips took a slow sensual
turn upwards at the corners, and he could not resist.

His mouth covered hers in what started as a
slow sensual friendly sort of kiss then he felt her resolve. As if,
she almost melted into his arms while her packages hit the floor.
Her mouth opened eagerly, and the kiss turned hot and carnal. His
hand on her arm had moved to the back of her head, wrapping itself
up in her soft curly red hair while he gently held her head in
closer to his. His other hand wrapped around behind her to the
small of her back rubbing slowly up and down against her wool coat.
Wishing it was the naked skin of her back he was touching. Just
when he was sure, she was going to pull away, her hands wrapped
themselves around the back of his neck, and she began to moan
softly and continue kissing him harder, deeper.

He was not sure who was seducing whom, and he
really did not care. Because at that moment, he was only thinking
about getting her naked and screwing her brains out right there on
a table, next to where they stood, at his brother's bar of all
places.

She pulled away and was so breathless that
she could barely get the words out. “Thanks.” She did not pull too
far away, but her hands had dropped to the front of his chest where
she could feel his heart beat fast and the rise and fall of his
chest, hard firm muscular chest, which was driving her insane. She
wanted nothing more than to strip their clothes and to feel his hot
warm mouth on her cunt or his hard cock pulsating in her, right
there in the bar. Which was so unlike her. So unlike her normal put
together professional attitude self. This man staring at her was so
hot and so speechless that she was not sure if it was from the
kiss, or that she pursued him back. Because the kiss they just
shared was the best damn kiss, she ever got or gave for that fact.
There was something there. Something magical.

“Well. Merry Christmas.” However, he could
not let his hands leave. Instead, he did something that could be
seen as a sexual advance. He began to unbutton her coat. Then he
rolled it off her shoulders and let it hit the floor. He looked
back at her mouth and began kissing her again. She did not seem too
terrible upset. In fact, she looked smitten before he kissed her
and now with the way she was kissing back, he was almost sure.
Maybe she was thinking along the same sleazy, crazy lines he was.
He felt her hands reach around behind him and pull him in close.
That was fine by him.

The sound of a door chime made them both
freeze for a second. Then John heard the all too familiar sound of
his brother.

“So is this how you are getting new patrons
into my bar. A little unorthodox don’t you think?”

A lighthearted chuckle filled the silence of
the room. Callie would almost have preferred the sound of that
Christmas song that played earlier. She felt her face flush with a
feeling of heat to match her embarrassment, and she closed her eyes
thinking that would block the stranger from seeing her. She felt
John turn and stand in front of her while his hand still touched
her on her side. She wanted to move. Pick up her belongings and
run. To think for a minute, or two or three, she wanted to seduce
this gorgeous bartender’s brains out and fuck him right there in
the bar. Instead, she might get him fired. That would just be an
insult to injury. She really did not know if she could handle the
guilt on this one.

“Good afternoon brother. What are you doing
out of bed?”

The sound of the word ‘brother’ was music to
her ears. To say the least. She figured that the stranger that had
walked in on them was his boss, and he could get fired for this
type of risqué behavior, but a brother would most likely give him a
slap on the back and way to go bro attitude.

She was still in a flight mode, with thoughts
of how to get out quick. Perhaps from the embarrassment of being
caught, or the fact that these steamy thoughts she was having about
her bartender were only escalating instead of making common sense.
At least, it was only his brother who had busted them. Not, some
stranger or customer, while they had been in the heat of the rush,
on that table over to her right that she kept focusing on. On that
table, while his hot mouth was teasing her naked body to a
full-blown screaming orgasm.

Her mind was in the gutter, but she could not
seem to stop her train of thought. It was his kiss; she figured. No
man turned her on so fast with such a kiss.

She turned her attention back to the friendly
banter that was playing between the two men. Something about bed
rest from the surgery. Then she heard his name, John, and the fact
that he was covering and then something about staying to help
tonight, but that he had come back, and he would lock the door
behind him. Then she heard the other man let out a boisterous
friendly ‘Nice to meet you.’ As soon as the door chimed, and a loud
click of the lock resounded; she finally felt like she could
breathe, somewhat any ways.

John turned back to her and looked almost
amused at her frazzled state. He stopped her from reaching down to
get her coat and packages. “Where were we?”

Just about to screw each other's, total
strangers, brains out. Thank goodness, your brother stopped us
.
She voiced internally. “We were wishing each other a friendly Merry
Christmas.” She chimed out with a slow methodical seductive voice.
She did not feel she was at the least bit shy around this man with
the thick dark hair, bright blue eyes and hard features on every
inch of his body.

“I think we both know it was starting to go
somewhere else. Well, the door is locked, so what’s stopping you?”
He started to pull her into his arms and hope they could go right
back at it. However, deep down, he felt she deserved more than a
table at the bar. She was more the luxury type of satin sheets and
soft lights.

John knew this was going somewhere, if not
now, perhaps soon, yet now would really help his constant aching
hard on he had after kissing this sexy redhead.

Chapter Four

The fact that they were strangers did not
seem to bother the man. Perhaps it was because she would just be
another wing girl. A girl in the wings to fill his fancy and that
was not her style. No matter how well the man kissed.

“I’ve got to get back to work.” She could not
seem to move. His touch upon her arm was as intense, as was his
gaze from his eyes. The feeling of excitement flushed through her
body had her moist and wanting. The desire, to just once, fuck his
brains out, took over her. She would like, just once, not to think
about the consequences. A quick mental picture of her body tingling
toes curling and her eyes closing slowly as they felt like they
were rolling into the back of her head made her shutter with
anticipation.

“I see. Perhaps you’ll come this way again.”
He could not help himself. One last kiss and he would help her with
her coat and send her on her way. He was not one to chase, and she
probably was more trouble than he needed right now. With less than
a week until Christmas, he had hoped to be home at his house on the
beach in California, not still covering for a brother who refused
to stay still and get the proper rest he needed to recover fully.
Instead, he kept popping into work, and then was exhausted the next
day. He had been secretly taking applications for managers and
doing interviews in hopes of replacing himself, so he could get
back to where he belonged, in California.

The kiss was not returned as well as it was
before. Something was stopping her and he almost felt like he was
pushing himself on her. He stopped quickly. He was not a man to
take what a woman did not want to give.

He pulled away, reached down, and grabbed her
coat. He helped her put it on and he buttoned her back up. She had
not said anything, and it felt rather awkward for a minute. He
reached down to grab her shopping bags, and as he handed them off,
he spoke in a voice that sounded raspy. “John Tally by the way.
Brother of the owner. Temporarily here, for another week or two.
Perhaps you’ll stop in again. Drinks will be on me.”

Those words put a thought in her brain of a
naughty down and dirty her, licking some delectable drink off his
rock-hard abs. She no sooner giggled as she accepted the packages
then his eyes turned happy, and his smile melted her heart.
“Perhaps. Perhaps I might just swing back by later for dinner.”

“We have a band coming and no help, so I
might be too busy. Closing time is two. You want to get a coffee
afterwards?” He sounded hopeful but knew she might bow out.

“Two a.m.? I… I have to work tomorrow. I
catch the seven thirty subway into work and usually don’t get done
until seven in the evening.”

“Long day. Whelp. See ya around?” He figured
the kiss was good while it lasted. The sex might have even been as
good as the kiss. He really needed to save his energy for the night
rush.

“Wait… uhm.” Her hand reached out as he
looked as if he was going to turn and get back into work. “I… uhm.
Well, I would like to get to know you. Work is crazy and with the
holidays and all.”
