Rachel brightened immediately when she heard
her e-mail ping her. Another new message! She immediately tabbed
over to her e-mail program, her heart racing, for obvious reasons.
Was it from her secret admirer? She had to know, immediately.

It was. He said his name was Vincent, and
his forum name was Multum. She’d always wondered about that. She
remembered her high school Latin class well enough to know that it
meant ‘many’. Perhaps it only meant he had many crushes on all the
women of the forum she moderated.

Rachel was one of those so-called ‘Big
Beautiful Women’ and she was one of the head moderators on a size
acceptance forum, helping young teenage girls come to accept that
they were beautiful at any weight. She remembered being like that.
Overweight and high school was never a good combination, and she’d
been ostracized and teased more times than she cared to count. But
in college, she blossomed. She found a group of friends who
accepted her for who she was, affirmed her beauty, and helped her
through any bad thoughts that might occur in her tumultuous head.
By the end of their run at college, they’d started this forum to
spread the love even further, and they vowed to never stop talking
to each other.

Rachel smiled as she thought of them. There
was Debbie, a bit of a loud mouth, be she’d never cared what anyone
thought of her. It was like she was genetically predisposed to be
immune to criticism, to the point where she tried out for the
cheerleading squad at her high school. Rachel laughed at the
thought, but not in a mean way. Debbie was adorable in a
cheerleading uniform, and her old high school didn’t know what they
were missing. Debbie was the de facto leader of the group. It had
been her idea to start the forum.

Then there was Allison. She was shy, but a
total geek. She was the brains behind the operation. She’d always
been fascinated by coding and programming, and she’d not only set
up the forum, but the adjoining blog, and installed software to
automatically monitor the comments for spam and hateful messages.
Rachel shuddered. It was amazing how much bile there was out there
for larger women. She just didn’t understand it. And she hated that
Allison had to be subjected to it. She was the most mentally
delicate of the group; she’d come from such a small high school
that
everyone
in her grade, and many in the other grades,
ganged up on her and teased her mercilessly every day. They
sometimes had even beat her up. What a horrible experience that
must have been. But now, she’d blossomed along with Rachel. She
still had moments of weakness, but the other girls protected her
and bolstered her as much as they could.

And the last girl of the group, Danielle.
She was the fashion diva, always perfectly made up, and dressed in
the latest style. Before Danielle, Rachel didn’t even
know
it was possible for a large woman to have style. But now she
swapped wardrobes with the girl all the time, and when they went
out on the town, they were the stars of the show. It was hard for
Rachel to believe, but Danielle had actually been popular at her
high school. But it was such a large one, it was difficult to pick
out and tease a person just for being fat. Plus, she’d been in a
Texas school. Everyone was a little chunky down there, which was a
wonderful thought. Rachel, and the entire group, in fact, found fat
to be beautiful. They knew they would never be stick thin super
models, and they didn’t want to be. Curves were the way to go.

Rachel sighed happily, and read the contents
of the message, now. The forum automatically forwarded private
messages to her e-mail inbox, and this one read:

Rachel-

I just hope you’re having a wonderful day.
The guys and I went out for pizza and wings last night, and I just
couldn’t stop thinking about you. I don’t know how you live with
yourself. If I were you, I’d be staring in the mirror all day.
;-)

I’m going to be traveling around a lot this
week for business. Maybe I’ll be in your area? Would you like to go
out for coffee?

-Vincent

Rachel’s heart gave a flutter at the very
thought. It was one thing to have a secret admirer, but quite
another to actually meet him. She couldn’t help but worry about the
idea that she wouldn’t live up to the man’s expectations. But it
wouldn’t hurt to tell him what city she was in. Chances were he was
nowhere near her.

She tabbed back over to the forum, which
she’d been moderating when her e-mail pinged her. There was one
particularly nasty troll creeping about this morning, spewing hate
and vitriol at every young lady who posted a photo of herself in
the images forum. As soon as she banned one account, another popped
up. She was going to have to ask Allison to put the membership back
to moderated for a few days, she could tell.

She stamped out another troll account, and
deleted some posts they had made, sighing heavily. She often
wondered if it was worth it, to leave the membership so open, but
she knew that moderated membership scared away the people they
needed to help the most. The teens. It was a price worth paying,
and one they had to pay.

But Allison wanted to think about better
things right now. She opened up her private messages window, and
tapped out a reply:

Vincent-

Believe it or not, I rarely look in the
mirror these days. I guess I’m just that comfortable with who I am!
I wouldn’t mind you looking at me, though. ;-)

The girls and I are all located in Columbus,
at the moment. I have no idea if that’s close to you, or one of
your trips. I’d love to meet for coffee sometime, if it is,
however!

-Rachel

She felt giddy as she sent off that message.
She’d never really had a boyfriend – naturally, no one in her
shallow high school would touch her, and she’d been so focused on
her studies and the girls in college that she just didn’t have time
for stuff like that. But now, fresh out of college, with a brand
spanking new admin assistant job, she finally felt like her life
was settling down enough to think about looking. Not that she
thought this Vincent was a real possibility. He could be a scammer,
for all she knew.

But it would be very interesting if he
wasn’t.

Rachel waited a few more minutes to see if
he was going to immediately message him, back, but after 15
minutes, she became aware that she was running late for work.

“Drat!” Rachel stood up, and ran over to the
bathroom. Her round face looked back at her in the mirror there,
and she could see her dark curls were in tangles. She desperately
needed to do some work with them, and also her makeup. Danielle had
rubbed off on her quite a bit. Once she’d found the confidence to
care about herself, she found herself also caring about her
appearance as well.

And she really was beautiful, now that she’d
learned to embrace herself for who she was. Her face was round,
yes, but her skin was smooth and unblemished. Her hair fell in soft
dark brown curls, framing her face nicely. She had great hair, too.
It just did that naturally. Her almond shaped hazel eyes rested
above a cute button nose, and underneath all that was a pair of
small, but full lips. Lips that she was hurriedly applying gloss to
now.

Her face and hair taken care of, she hurried
back out into her room, and rummaged through her clothing to find
something suitable and clean. She settled on a black knee length
a-line skirt, matching jacket, and a light blue blouse. Rachel
sighed and glanced around her room. It was a mess. Oh well, she’d
take care of it when she got home.

*****

Rachel just couldn’t help herself. She snuck
onto the forum from her work computer, checking her private
messages. She had a new one from Vincent! Suppressing the urge to
squeal with glee, she opened it, and wondered exactly where he was
located.

Rachel-

No kidding, you’re in Columbus? That’s where
I live too! Wow, this is quite the coincidence. I would love to see
you. In fact, I have a few friends who would like to meet you as
well.

-Vincent

A thrill ran up her spine. Not just him, but
a group of men who wanted to meet her? She wondered where things
could go in a situation like that. She couldn’t help but fantasize
about that thought. She’d always had a bit of a thing for being
taken by multiple men at the same time. There was just something
about the idea that appealed to her like nothing else. She squirmed
in her seat a bit and glanced around, hoping no one had noticed her
naughtiness.

Deciding to chance getting caught, she
opened up the reply window, and typed one out, right then and
there:

Vincent-

How very interesting! I’m definitely still
looking forward to meeting you. Where exactly in Columbus are
you?

-Rachel

She sent the message off, and almost
immediately, she got a reply. Vincent must be at his computer right
now.

Rachel-

My office is located on the corner of Main
and Washington. You working today?

-Vincent

Rachel’s eyes widened at that. Her own
office was on the corner of Broad and Washington, a mere 3 blocks
away. He secret admirer was so close to her, and neither of them
even realized it! They could go out for coffee right now, presuming
he was at work, and wasn’t busy.

Vincent-

What an incredible coincidence. I’m very
near that location. Do you want to get some coffee now?

-Rachel

She decided to be at least a little prudent,
and not say exactly where she was. He could still be a scammer,
after all.

But she didn’t think so. She and Vincent had
been talking like this for a few weeks, and she already knew some
intimate details of his life. She knew he was about her age, and
that when he was in high school, he concealed his love for large
women behind a veil of teasing. That was how most men operated. Now
that he was older, he fully and openly embraced his love for them,
though.

She also knew he was an accountant, so she
ran a quick Google search on the address. Indeed, there was a large
accounting office there, with a coffee shop right in the lobby.
They could meet there

She checked her messages once again, and was
rewarded.

Rachel-

I would love to. Can you meet me in the
lobby of my office in 15 minutes?

-Vincent

Already feeling jittery, she shot him a
quick reply:

Vincent-

Absolutely – see you in a bit! ;-)

-Rachel

Grabbing her purse, she let her superior
know she was taking an early lunch, and then she practically
skipped her way to the escalator. She couldn’t believe the luck of
all of this, but sometimes that’s just how things worked out.

As she walked towards Vincent's building
though, she could help but feel antsy. What if she was wrong about
him? She got a good vibe from him, but she really didn’t know him
all that well. And she probably shouldn’t be going alone. But she
was a big girl, she could handle one man in a public place. She
smirked. She definitely was a big girl.

Rachel entered the lobby of the office, and
made a beeline for the coffee shop. As soon as she entered, a man
stood up and greeted her. “You must be Rachel!” he said, flashing a
smile.

He was big, too. He was tall and
broad-shouldered, with a fair amount of meat on his bones, and had
a square face with a wide jaw, and fairly short blonde hair. He
could have been a football player. Rachel nearly swooned on the
spot.
This
was Vincent? He was a hunk.

“I am! And you must be Vincent.” Trying to
maintain her composure, she held out her hand, but Vincent went for
a hug. He certainly was friendly. But he didn’t hold onto her for
too long, it was a quick little thing, and then they both made
their way to a table. A barista trotted over with a couple of
menus, but Rachel merely ordered a coffee. She was far too nervous
to eat.

“I have to say, I’m a huge fan,” he said,
still flashing that Cheshire smile. “I follow all your posts.”

Rachel blushed. He was too much. This was
far too perfect. He obviously liked her, and he was definitely
attractive. She could see having some fun with him. “Really? So you
know every silly little thing I’ve said?”
