Read See You in My Dreams: Speed, Book 1 Online
Authors: Jess Dee
It was full of Nathan.
Nathan, who just kept on building that pleasure. Kept on pounding into her, filling her, completing her.
She was a shivering mass of nerve endings, each one more stimulated than the next. Wherever Nathan’s touch fell—and his hands were everywhere, soothing over her ass, up her spine, down her sides, cupping her breasts—her skin erupted in gooseflesh. Her nipples were hard, and when he tweaked one, just once, a fresh wave of pleasure washed over her.
It lasted hours. Or maybe seconds.
And when Nathan groaned hoarsely in her ear, and the words, “You blow my mind,” echoed through the room, she convulsed in a powerful orgasm.
Nathan came too, his cock pulsing inside her.
Sophie keened softly at the incredible pleasure that rocked her very world.
And when his pulsing had slowed to an occasional jerk, and he wound his hand around her hips and stroked her clit, she came again, relishing the knowledge that it was her body he’d lost control for. Lost control in. Her body he’d spent himself in.
Nathan Pace, or Jamie Speed, had just made her the happiest, most sexually satisfied woman alive.
Chapter Nine
If Nathan had had his way, he would have skipped the after party altogether and taken Sophie right back to the apartment. But the choice wasn’t his. He had obligations to the band and Luke. So instead of dragging Sophie to bed, he dragged her along to the hotel.
They slipped unnoticed through a back entrance.
Nathan had to hand it to Luke. The man had become a veritable expert at organizing unobtrusive entrances. He knew every back door of every hotel they’d ever stayed in.
Nathan pulled Sophie into an empty elevator. His mouth was on hers before the doors had fully closed. Christ, he couldn’t stop touching her. Holding her. Kissing her.
Sophie’s hands were everywhere. Tangled in his hair, cupping his cheeks—and his butt cheeks—smoothing over his shoulders. Then they were tunneling beneath his shirt, her palms gliding over his bare flesh.
Gooseflesh covered his skin as he lost himself to her smell and feel and taste. Time ceased to exist. Space ceased to exist. There was only him and Sophie.
The dinging of the bell was a nasty intrusion. Nathan had to wrench himself away from her warmth. He limped out of the elevator, panting. Sophie was in no better state.
No matter that he’d made love to her in the dressing room a little over an hour ago, he was ready again. He groaned softly. “I’ve got an erection from hell.”
“Yeah? Well, at least it’ll ease in a few minutes,” Sophie grumbled in his ear. “I have to walk around in wet panties for the rest of the night.”
Nathan growled, his cock growing a good inch. “Are you deliberately trying to kill me? Comments like that will keep me hard for the next hour.”
“You
sang
to me,” she accused. “You got me all horny and aroused on stage! And now every time you open your mouth I get turned on all over again. How do you think I feel?”
“If it’s anything like I do, I’m guessing desperate to get inside my pants?” The words felt like sandpaper in his throat.
“Fucking desperate,” she amended, and her lips were on his, her tongue stealing into his mouth.
“Heads up, people.” Luke’s voice had them jumping apart. “Camera at two o’clock. Nath, you have about thirty seconds to pull your shirt down or tomorrow morning your erection’s gonna be bigger news than Sophie’s guest appearance at the concert.”
“Shit.” He straightened his shirt, doing up the bottom few buttons that had somehow come undone. “Run interference, Luke. Please.” Nathan scrubbed a hand over his face, not at all ready to deal with the intrusion.
Sophie stared at Luke with reddened cheeks and lips still glistening from the kiss.
Christ, he wanted to throw her on the floor and bury himself in her sweet pussy.
Who had a camera up here anyway? Press were never welcome at the parties. In adjoining suites or different rooms for interview purposes, yes. But not at the parties themselves.
“I’ll take care of it.” Luke stepped in front of Nathan and Sophie a second before a blinding light flashed.
Nathan clapped him on the shoulder in appreciation. He always took care of the situation. “You’re the man, Struthers.”
“Yeah?” Luke muttered over his shoulder. “Your brother seems to think the same damn thing.” Before Nathan could ask what he meant, Luke addressed Sophie. “Your friends are inside. They’re looking for you.” And then he was gone, heading off the guilty party who was bearing down on them.
When the coast was clear, Nathan gulped in some oxygen. “You okay?”
Her eyes were enormous. “Is this what it’s always like?”
“Pretty much.”
“You ever get used to it?”
He nodded. “It gets old after a while.” He ran his hands over her hair, taming the strands that he’d mussed when they kissed. “Ready to party?”
“Er, I think so.” She peeked nervously around the corner at the crowd gathered inside the suite. People oozed from every crevice.
“You’ll be fine,” he assured her. “Your friends are in there. And maybe a couple of other faces you’ll recognize.” Like the who’s who of Sydney’s rich and famous.
“We’ve been through this already tonight. My recognition skills aren’t what I thought they were,” she quipped.
“That’s okay. The only person you need to recognize is me. And in case you’re having trouble, I’ll be the one with the crazed light in his eyes and the fierce hunger on his face.”
Sophie laughed out loud. “And that’s different from every single one of your fans how?”
“Every single one of my fans is not completely obsessed with a beautiful blonde with eyes the color of a summer sky.”
Her hands trembled. “And you are?”
“Completely.” He pressed a kiss to her forehead. “C’mon. Let’s get you a drink and mingle.”
As he led her into the room, Nathan was struck by the oddity of their relationship. He knew Sophie intimately. Had explored every inch of her body. Knew what made her scream and what made her sob his name. He could read every expression in those beautiful eyes of hers and was even beginning to fancy he could finish her sentences if she let him. But he didn’t know the very basics about her. Like what her choice of drink would be.
He pinned her as a red wine drinker.
She wasn’t. “Wine puts me to sleep. One glass and my eyes start to close. I’ll have a scotch. Single malt, if possible.”
Nathan had the same.
Damn, he loved a woman who drank scotch.
Sophie stood at his side as person after person came to greet him. Their time was monopolized by small talk. Throughout it all he kept his arm around her, holding her close. Nathan was careful to introduce her merely as Sophie, knowing that spilling any more vital details would leave her open to a major invasion of her privacy.
If anyone leaked her name to the press, Sophie would never escape the paparazzi.
Sophie seemed to take everything in stride. “Drunk as a skunk,” she whispered to him after a man in his fifties propositioned Nathan right in front of her.
“Awesome dress,” she complimented the faded, jaded TV starlet who gave Sophie the evil eye.
“Speed or E?” she asked Nathan, when a guy jumped in front of them, jabbered away a mile a minute about absolutely nothing, hugged Nathan, declared his undying love for Sophie and flitted off as quickly as he’d arrived.
“Probably both.” Nathan shrugged. A couple of years ago, he’d have been as high as the hugger. But the uppers had never given him what he’d wanted. Never provided the answer to that unknown something he’d spent his whole life searching for. The something that he seemed only to find in his dreams at night.
The something he’d found in Sophie.
Eyes of fire, heart’s desire…
When the steady stream of guests wishing to chat had slowed to a gentle trickle, and Sophie had introduced him to her friends, Tasha and Kaz—short for Karen, Sophie explained—Nathan tugged on Sophie’s hand, discreetly pulling her away from the crowd and into the bedroom.
He closed the door behind them, intent on tasting her tempting lips once again.
Sophie’s gasp stopped him in his tracks.
“What’s up?”
She stared at the massive, plush room wide-eyed. “Uh, nothing. Well, nothing really. It’s just…this room seems so familiar, is all. And it shouldn’t. I’ve never been in here before.”
“Maybe you’ve seen it in a photo or a commercial for the hotel?” This was the Australia Suite, the best suite the InterContinental had to offer. It surely must have made it into the hotel brochures.
She nodded vaguely. “Maybe. Probably.” She looked unconvinced. “Anyway, it’s not important. What is important is that you brought me in here.” She looked at him from beneath long, smoky lashes. “There a reason you did that?”
“Hell, yeah.” Nathan watched as she licked her lips suggestively. “To steal a kiss.”
A
kiss? A thousand kisses, more like it. He shook his head. “Only now that I have you, it’s not just a kiss I want.”
“It’s not?” Her blue eyes were darker than usual. The color they turned in his dreams—and in real life—when she was aroused.
“Fuck, no.” His heart slammed into his ribs. “I want everything. I want ownership of your mouth and your body. I want to hold your breasts in my hands while I suck on your nipples. I want to feel your hot, wet lips around my cock while I lick your very delicious pussy.”
She whimpered, and the sound echoed through him, vibrating over every nerve ending. He swallowed hard against the powerful surge of desire that swept through his veins. In his mind’s eye, he saw her as he had last night, when he’d dreamed about her—again.
She was on a bed—the very bed in this room, actually—and her legs were spread wide. Her arms were held open, beckoning him. Her pussy was swollen and drenched, and soft, sensual sounds emanated from her mouth.
He’d been as aroused in his dream as he was right now.
“I want to lick you ’til you come,” he told her. “And I want to fuck you until we both explode. I want to make love to you so badly and in so many different ways, I don’t even know where to begin.” His breath grew shallow, his dick hard as blazes. He may have no idea where to start, but he knew for sure he never wanted to stop. Ever.
Sophie gasped again. Her eyes were huge and her mouth hung open. Incredulity was etched across her face.
“Sophie Rose? What’s the matter?”
She shook her head as though powerless to respond.
“Talk to me, sweetheart. Tell me what’s wrong.”
She closed her mouth. Opened it again, then closed it, frowning.
“What’s going on?” he whispered. “Why are you staring at me like that?”
She shook her head, looking dazed. “L-last night—”
“Last night what?”
She straightened her shoulders. “Last night you said those exact same words to me. And when you said them, we were standing in this very room.”
Nathan blinked. “I never saw you last night.” He wished he had, though. Wished she had been in this room with him. Like she had been—in his dream.
“I know. But we
were
here. Together.” And then she said the words that shook him to the core. “In my dream.”
It was Nathan’s turn to stare at her in stunned disbelief.
More images from his own dream crashed back into his memory.
He hadn’t just seen Sophie motioning to him from the bed. He’d also seen her like this, standing before him. And in his dream he’d just whispered the very words he’d said to her not a minute ago.
He was, in effect, living the dream he’d had last night.
And so was she.
“You dreamed about me?” He struggled to process the information. His voice came out sounding funny, but then whose wouldn’t under similar circumstances?
She nodded, watching him carefully. “And last night wasn’t the first time.”
“Pardon?” He could barely believe what she was saying.
“I’ve dreamt about you my entire adult life, Nathan.”
What?
“Erotic dreams, of you and me making love. O-only, I never knew it was you because the only part of your face I ever saw clearly was your eyes.”
His jaw dropped.
Sophie continued in a rush. “Wh-when you sat down at the pastry shop and took off your sunnies, it hit me. I recognized you. I’d seen you in my dreams. You’d been my lover for the last ten years.”
Nathan’s heart beat frantically. Oxygen became scarce. He couldn’t breathe, couldn’t think clearly. Couldn’t put a sentence together.
“I s-see your eyes every time I fall a-asleep. But the first time I ever saw your face clearly in my dreams was two nights ago. After I…met you.”
This couldn’t be happening. Sophie had dreamed about him? Even shared his dreams? All of them?
She’d recognized his eyes but not his face—just like he had with her.
His grandmother’s song echoed through his ears, making his head swim.
When day is done and night has come, you’ll see it in your dreams,
Eyes of fire, heart’s desire, you’ll know just what it means.
Not just a song, a prophecy!
And the meaning of the prophecy suddenly unraveled.
Nathan stumbled backward, almost tripping. He found the bed just in time to collapse onto it.
He’d seen her eyes in his dream. The eyes of the woman his heart desired.
Nathan shook his head. All this time he’d thought his grandmother had been slightly offbeat. He’d taken her prophecies with a grain of salt. Never really stopped to give them much thought.
And yet…
What about the fact that Sophie had been dreaming about him too?
Ridiculous.
Not just ridiculous…
“Impossible,” he said out loud. Well, it should be impossible anyway, but somewhere, deep in his heart, he knew it wasn’t.
How else could he explain the circumstances that unfolded before him? How else could he make sense of the idea that both he and Sophie had dreamed about each other for ten years? How else could he have known her the second he caught sight of her eyes?
Maybe, just maybe it wasn’t so ridiculous after all. But still…
“It’s unbelievable,” he mused. “All of it, absolutely unbelievable.” And yet, five years after her death, his grandmother had made him a believer.
