He shrugged. “Like I said, it’s liberating. You ought to try it.”

“No thank you,” I said. I gave up trying to slither out of his grasp. His cock was making little movements against my belly, and the resulting heat of desire instantly raced through me. For a second, I forgot why I had come downstairs in the first place. “Don’t get any ideas into your head… either of them,” I smirked. Too bad he couldn’t see it. That was a good one.

“Too late.”

“Well, since you’re naked, I suppose I should take care of your incision,” I said, lifting my hands and placing them against his chest. He didn’t move. He was a solid mass of, well, solid. “Jax, we shouldn’t—”

His cock continued to wiggle, and he removed one hand from around my shoulders, maneuvered himself, and before I knew it, his half-erect cock was now pressed up against my lower abdomen. Every nerve fiber in my body was awake now, zinging with fire. Every cell screamed out my desire.

Before I knew, it my right palm grasped his cock, reveling in its silky softness on top, the solid mass of musculature beneath. His hands remained on my shoulders as I began to gently stroke up and down, my left hand following the curve of his hip and down along his right thigh. I don’t know if he encouraged me to do it or if I did it on my own, but before I knew it I found myself sinking to my knees.

I took his cock in my mouth, hesitantly at first, and then growing more daring when I heard him growl deep in his throat.

I didn’t care that the hardwood floor under my knees was unyielding. He stood with his feet spread about shoulder width apart. He cupped his hands on either side of the crown of my head, not forcing me to make any specific move, but just maintaining contact. While my right hand gently stroked, my left reached up between his thighs and cupped his balls in my hand. I began to maneuver my hand and fingers like I was rolling marbles. He stiffened. I felt a thrill of power to know that I could elicit such a reaction in him. I don’t know how it was possible, but his cock hardened even more.

My tongue swirled around his head, eliciting a definite reaction. After several seconds of that, he muttered two words that had my pussy close to throbbing.

“Lick me.”

I did. My tongue swirled around his head and then down the length of his cock, close to the nest of curls from which it sprang. Then, curving my tongue, I wrapped my upper lip around one side of his cock, my tongue along the other, and pretended I was playing the harmonica. Every muscle in his body clenched and his fingers tightened in my hair.

“Now suck me.”

Once again I took him into my mouth and suckled gently.

“Harder.”

I followed his instructions, amazed at the reactions I elicited in him. I gave him the best blow job I could. I didn’t wait for his urgings, and when he started to rock his hips, I placed both of my hands on either side, indicating that he was to remain still. I was on fire, and without him even coming near my breasts, my nipples tingled and hardened as if reaching out for his touch.

His hands never moved from my hair. I sucked his head, trying to take him a little deeper into my mouth, but I was relatively unexperienced in this and couldn’t take too much of him without feeling like I was going to gag. He seemed to sense this and didn’t move. I tried to make up for it by being more creative with my tongue and lips, both in the licking and sucking.

I had never done this with any of my boyfriends before, and although a “newbie”, I thought I was doing okay. In fact, I think I was doing more than okay, especially when he uttered his next instructions, low in his throat.

“Now just suck, but keep stroking.”

I focused my attentions on his head, while continuing to stroke his incredibly hard cock, now engorged, the veins fat and thick. I stroked faster and gripped tighter. I felt his orgasm building. A sudden wave of movement rippled along his cock. Suddenly, he pulled out of my mouth and I felt hot liquid squirting onto my chin, my throat, and down the neck of my nightshirt and between my breasts. I didn’t stop stroking until the last of the liquid had spurted from his penis.

In the next second, he removed his hands from my head, grasped me by my shoulders, and pulled me upright. He reached his arm to the right, opened and fumbled in a drawer at the end of the counter, cursed, then pulled out a foil packet. I didn’t want to even think about why he kept them there.

He backed up toward the chair he had vacated from the kitchen table and sat down. Within seconds, my underwear was pooled on the floor at my ankles and he was rolling a condom down his stiff cock. I stepped out of my panties, and without any direction on his part, lowered my wet and throbbing pussy onto his still erect penis.

I was hot, ready, and my lower lips wrapped around his cock, contracting tightly as I bounced up and down on his thighs. With every downward thrust my buttocks made a light slapping sound on his legs. He lifted my nightshirt above my head, quickly wiped his cum off my breasts and then gave my nipples the same favors I had given his cock just moments earlier.

He licked and suckled, and his tongue swirled around my nipples and areolas. They tingled with what I can only term as electricity that joined a direct current down to my pussy. He blew on them, used his fingertips to twirl my hard little nubs, and then he tweaked and nipped them with his teeth. Then his tongue would once again lathe them with his attention. He started flicking my nipples with his tongue, fast up-and-down movements that sent me over the edge.

I ground my pussy down onto his cock as deep as I could take him and pressed my breasts against his chest, my head nestled in his shoulder. My hips rocked as I pumped harder, faster. His hips remained still. I groaned low in my throat as my arms clasped his shoulders tightly. He wrapped his arms around my waist, pulling me closer.

In seconds, I reached my own orgasm, an incredibly powerful swirl and surge of feeling that left me stunned by its power. My breath came in sharp, ragged gasps. Finally, the contractions of my pussy around his cock ebbed and we just sat there for several seconds, both of us catching our breath. He stroked my hair as my fingers splayed along his upper shoulders and down his back.

Finally, feeling so weak I didn’t think I could move, I lifted my head.

“Well,” he said.

I leaned back. “Well indeed,” I grinned. “I forgot what I came down here for.”

He offered a slight shrug and pushed my hair back from my face. “Whatever it was, I’m sure this was better, wasn’t it?”

I concurred. At his urging, I finally stood, my knees trembling with weakness. For a moment, I felt self-conscious. I stood naked in front of him, my silk underwear and top puddled on the floor at my feet. He stared up at me, but said nothing and I could think of nothing to say either. Words escaped me. I gestured lamely upstairs, and then, without another word, I crouched down, snatched up my clothing, and made a quick retreat.

My body still burned with the aftermath of our passionate lovemaking as I raced up the stairs and back to my room. I can’t believe I had been so… so wanton! That’s the only way I could phrase it. This newfound sexuality was so new to me. For the first time in my life, I wished I had a best friend that I could confide in, talk to about this.

I made my way into my room, closed my door and leaned against it for several moments. My heart was still racing. I quickly stepped into the bathroom, washed up, and then slid back between the sheets of my bed, still naked. I replayed the “kitchen episode” over and over again in my head, amazed at my own passions. I had never thought of myself as particularly sexual, but once again, I was forced to admit that there was something about Jax Andrews that was completely irresistible. With those thoughts running through my head, I fell into a deep and satisfied sleep.

Chapter 3

The following morning, I headed downstairs in my scrubs. This morning I had to deliver some paperwork and my timesheet to Nancy’s office, and then I was going to make a quick stop at the store, buy a few groceries, and a few more bandaging supplies at the local pharmacy to take care of Jax’s incision.

I had finally convinced him to let me re-bandage it earlier this morning. It was healing nicely, but he still refused to adhere to my gentle reminders to go easy on the weight bearing exercises. The physical therapist was supposed to come in the next couple of days, and I’m sure that she expected much the same attitude from him, in which case she would likely “cease-and-desist” her efforts as formerly warned.

Jax didn’t seem that concerned. It was only when I reminded him that she had to sign off on his therapy, and that his unit chief would probably need confirmation that he had completed therapy and was one-hundred percent before he was allowed back into his unit that he seem to have second thoughts. I had no idea if this was true, but it seemed as if he didn’t either, so the little white lie might serve him some good.

I had just reached the bottom of the stairs and was prepared to turn to the kitchen, where I was going to grab the keys to the gray sedan, when I heard the knock on the door. Because my thoughts were on the errands I would be running, I forgot Jax’s warning about opening the door without his approval. I quickly peeked through the peep hole, saw a woman standing on the doorstep, and thought perhaps the physical therapist had come early. I quickly keyed in the alarm deactivation code and then opened the front door.

“Hi,” I said. The woman standing in front of me wore nice clothes—a little too nice for a physical therapist to wear to a session. Crisp tan linen slacks, black pumps, a red, sleeveless and low necked silk blouse, and a large number of silver and gold bangles on each wrist. Her long, fire engine red fingernails clutched a Gucci bag. Long brunette hair in luxurious waves dropped over her shoulders. Her face was sharply defined and her bone structure exquisite, and I felt a tinge of envy. Perfectly arched eyebrows, luscious eyelashes, and gorgeous hazel eyes. Unfortunately, the only thing that detracted from her beauty was the slight frown she wore on her lips.

In fact, the way she gave me a once over, her look slightly disapproving, if I had interpreted the slight smirk on her face as she took in my shapeless dark blue scrubs correctly, annoyed me. She inspected my crocs and then brought her gaze back up to my face, assessing.

She wasn’t the physical therapist.

“May I help you?” I asked.

“And just who might you be?” she asked. “Where’s Jackson?”

“Stephanie!”

I glanced over my shoulder to see Jax making his way down the bottom third of the stairs. I was glad to see that he was wearing clothes; a pair of cargo shorts, a collared polo shirt, unbuttoned of course, and a pair of sturdy leather sandals. The pleasure on his face was plain, but I also noted some wariness in the expression. Where did that come from? I didn’t know him well enough to determine his emotions. I turned back to the woman standing at the door. Before I could even move, she roughly brushed her way past me and entered.

“You look great,” she said, rushing toward him. He had barely reached the bottom of the stairs before she wrapped both arms around him, squeezing tightly. She couldn’t possibly have seen the wince of pain that her tight grip around his waist elicited. I frowned in disapproval.

“Watch his—”

“It’s okay, Angie,” he commented, and then gently pressed against the woman’s shoulders, putting some distance between them.

He looked at me.

“Angie, meet my ex-wife, Stephanie.” He glanced down at the gorgeous woman and smiled. “Stephanie, this is my number one nurse, Angie.”

Stephanie merely glanced over her shoulder, gave me a little sniff, and then offered a barely polite nod. “Pleased to meet you.”

She didn’t wait for a reply, but clasped her hands around Jax’s forearm and literally pulled him toward the kitchen.

“It’s been ages! I just got in from Seattle,” she said, her fire engine red lips in a pout. “Why didn’t you meet me at the airport?”

His reply disappeared as they entered the kitchen and I stood in the open doorway, frowning. Ex-wife? I felt a twinge of jealousy surge through me. I didn’t know he had an ex, but then I had to remind myself that it was none of my business. In fact, nothing about his private life was any of my concern.

Scowling, I closed the front door and re-keyed in the alarm, and only then did I head to the kitchen. I stopped short at the doorway when I saw the two of them kissing in the middle of the kitchen. Stephanie had her arms wrapped around Jax again, but his hands had slid casually into his pockets. Nevertheless, it would’ve taken a crowbar to pull those two apart.

“Excuse me,” I said. “Don’t let me interrupt. I’m just taking the keys to the gray sedan, Jax. I’ll be back in a little while.”

Stefanie glanced at me over her shoulder, frowned a bit, and then turned to look up him. “What happened to the SUV?”

“We had a bit of an accident—”

“She wasn’t driving, was she?” Stephanie interrupted. “I’ve told you, Jackson, you shouldn’t let the help drive your cars. They—”

“It wasn’t her fault,” Jax said.

“But—”

“But nothing,” Jax repeated, pulling away from her and moving to sit down at the kitchen table. “So what brings you out this way?”

I wanted to stay and listen, but knew I couldn’t. Questions raced through my mind, and over all of them was my overwhelming sense of dismay. I couldn’t help it. I had known coming into this that Jax Andrews was a bit of a womanizer—more than a bit. I knew I couldn’t expect anything from him, let alone commitment. Still…

I glanced over my shoulder and caught Jax’s attention just before I disabled the alarm again. I lifted my eyebrow and he nodded.

“I’ll key in the code as soon as the garage door shuts. See you later.”

I had no excuse for lingering, so I simply nodded, opened the garage door, and then left, closing the door a little louder than I probably needed to. I made my way to the gray sedan, clicked the remote and heard its answering beep. I climbed in, relishing the feel of the luxurious leather seats, and then inserted the key into the ignition before reaching for the visor above the steering wheel for the garage remote. I pressed the button and sat frowning as the garage door slowly rolled open. I carefully backed out.

By the time I had pulled out of the driveway, I was definitely in a foul mood. I was so annoyed that I began scolding myself out loud. “What the hell is wrong with you, Angie Meadows? You think that a few sessions of hot sex with Jax is going to mean anything to him? You’re nothing to him! He’s not interested in anything but sex. And he’s not looking for a wife. He already has one… had… and he’s probably, no… he is definitely not in the market for a new one!”

I think I probably muttered to myself for a good half of the way to the home health care agency. My mood darkened when I realized that Nancy wasn’t there. I left the papers on her desk, nodded hello to Bethany, her secretary, and made my exit. My mood grew darker by the minute. After dropping off the papers at the agency, I drove back to Hilton Head, taking my time. I ended up at a pharmacy in the same shopping center where I had purchased groceries earlier, and spent about an hour picking up a few things at both the grocery store and the pharmacy.

I didn’t know whether to go back to the house just yet or not. Then again, I lived there, even if it was temporary. I would put the groceries away, start something for supper, and then retreat to my room. I’m sure Jax and his ex-wife had plenty of catching up to do, and they might not even be there. Then again, they might both be in the pool skinny-dipping or… something.

I pushed such thoughts out of my mind. Nevertheless, it was difficult. Stephanie was gorgeous, I had to admit it. She also had, at least from what I could tell, a perfect body. Full breasts, narrow waist, flaring hips, and long legs. It was difficult not to compare myself to someone so perfect.

I had never lacked confidence, never, but I had to be honest with myself, didn’t I? Standing next to Stephanie Andrews, or whatever she called herself now, had made me feel definitely frumpy and lacking.

As I drove the car back to Jax’s house, I continued to scold myself. I was a nurse. Nurses wore scrubs. I wasn’t going to apologize for that to anybody, least of all to someone like Stephanie. Still, the way she had looked at me made my blood boil. As if I was a creature, nothing more than a bug. That was it; she had treated me as if I was in nothing more than household help. That kind of attitude burned me up. ‘Household help’ worked damn hard, and often kept huge estates running smoothly while their rich owners played around, spent money, and had fun. The thought made me even angrier.

Still, I had to admit that I was also mad at myself. Mad at myself for thinking that a few sexual encounters with Jax Andrews made an iota of difference to him. I was no better than his Swedish… whatever she was. At that moment, I pledged to myself that I wouldn’t let Jax touch me again. I was his nurse, not his play thing. I wasn’t going to indulge in illicit sex just because he was practically irresistible. No, I would put my foot down and show some backbone and display some dignity.

By the time I pulled into the driveway, I was determined to be pleasant with Stephanie and renew my efforts to treat Jax as if he were nothing more than another one of my elderly clients. The fact that he wasn’t elderly was beside the point. He was a client, a patient, and I had made a huge mistake. More than once. I determined that it would not happen again.

My resolve to be pleasant and calm disappeared not long after I carried the bag of groceries and the supplies from the pharmacy back into the kitchen. I had just finished placing the groceries in the fridge and was heading upstairs with the bag of pharmacy items when I happened to glance in the living room. Jack’s lay on his stomach on the sofa, Stephanie sitting sideways on the edge near his thighs. The bandage over his incision had been removed and was laying on the coffee table in front of the couch.

“What happened?” I asked, quickly stepping into the living room.

Stephanie glanced over her shoulder and gave me a dismissive wave of her hand. “Nothing, I just wanted to see the incision,” she said.

I stared at her in dismay and then began to sputter. “But you can’t… you shouldn’t just take off the bandage! He still at risk for infection—”

“Oh bother,” Stephanie muttered, scowling. “Don’t be so dramatic. I only took it off a little while ago.”

I stepped into the living room. Jax just looked at me with an amused expression. “But why?”

“Why what?” Stephanie asked, practically snarling.

“Why do you need to look at the incision?”

“Because I wanted to!” she snapped.

Jax laughed. I turned to glare at him. “You do know you’re still at a risk for infection, don’t you?” I asked, raising an eyebrow.

“Who are you, Nurse Ratchet?” Stephanie asked. “For God’s sake, it’s not like I’m rubbing dirt into it!”

I stared at her a moment, trying to rein in my annoyance. “That incision is over his spine. It’s an especially vulnerable area. If any dust or dirt whatsoever gets into that incision, it could cause an infection that can literally—”

Stephanie made a face and shook her head, glancing down at Jax. “Is she serious? Have you been putting up with this since you got out of the hospital?”

“She’s only been here a few days—”

“And again I ask, have you been putting up with this since you got home?”

“She means well, Stephanie,” Jax said.

He lifted an eyebrow in my direction. I stared at him a moment, frowning, and then glanced at Stephanie. “If you’ll excuse us for a few minutes, I’ll clean the incision and put a new bandage on it.”

Stephanie made another face. “I can do it.”

I shook my head. “No, you can’t. There’s a certain process involved and you have no training—”

“How hard is it to slap on a piece of gauze and some tape?” she exclaimed, throwing up her hands. Again she laughed and glanced down at her ex. “Honestly, Jackson, isn’t this just a little too ridiculous?”

Before Jax had a chance to reply, I took another step into the room, growing angry now. “I don’t mean to be rude, Stephanie, but Jax—” She lifted an eyebrow. “Mister Andrews had a very serious injury, followed by spinal surgery. The reason I’m here is to make sure that he heals properly and doesn’t do anything that might endanger his full recovery and delay his return to active duty.”

Stephanie stared at me for several moments. I got the impression that she was a woman who was not used to people arguing with her. Well, tough shit. I didn’t like her before, and I certainly didn’t like her now. “If you’ll excuse us for a few minutes, I’ll take care of the bandage, and then I’ll start fixing dinner—”

“And I said that I could put on a new bandage. You go on about your chores and I’ll worry about
Jackson,
okay?”

Both of us turned to stare at Jax. He sighed.

“Move over, Stephanie,” he said. He slowly sat up, swinging his legs over the side of the couch.

He glanced at me and then at Stephanie.

“Both of you can just forget about it.”
