“Do you mean it?”

Lonnie’s voice had been so quiet, so unbelieving. A surge of joy swept through him.

“Very much.”

“Oh. Oh, Parker.”

Lonnie reached for him and Parker met him halfway, still mindful of his physical state. They kissed, Parker tasting the spices of the Thai food mixed with Lonnie’s essence. He’d been plagued by recurring erections since their first kiss earlier in the day. It would be difficult to be in the same home without wanting to touch Lonnie, but he’d promised to do what was best for him.

Lonnie broke their connection first but kept his arms wrapped around Parker’s neck.

“What if I want it to be a romantic situation?”

Parker swallowed down his emotions. “Only if you’re sure. We can take it as slow as you need.”

Lonnie frowned at him. “Can I please make up my own damn mind for once? I fucking
want
you, get it? No one’s telling me what to do. I don’t feel obligated to you or whatever it is you’re thinking. If you don’t want me like that, then fine, but you seem like you do so I don’t know what your problem is.”

Parker took Lonnie’s mouth in a heated kiss, tired of the tiptoeing on fucking eggshells they’d both been doing. He focused on one thing—his desire for Lonnie. He allowed himself to let go of every other consideration that had eaten at him since he’d realized he was attracted to the young man. Sometimes unexpected things happened, and even if Lonnie was the most unexpected thing that had ever happened to him, he didn’t care. For the first time, Parker was convinced that he would also be one of the most amazing people to touch his life. With any luck, it would be for many years to come.

Chapter Eight

Parker had gone out and purchased some clothes for Lonnie and already he had a twinge of concern. He really wanted to stay with Parker, couldn’t believe he’d asked. He even thought he might be falling in love with the gentle cop—that alone was outrageous enough—but he didn’t want to take charity. Not if they would be sleeping together. And Lonnie wanted to sleep with Parker more than anything.

After he’d dressed in the hospital bathroom, he noticed his hand tremble before he opened the door. Parker stood before him with a wide grin on his face. Lonnie smiled back.

“They fit perfect. You look great.”

Lonnie wasn’t very confident that he looked all that great, but he didn’t say anything. He knew Parker was happy and that was enough.

“I’m going to pay you back, just so you know.”

“Lonnie—”

“Don’t argue with me. You said you wanted me to feel comfortable, and that’s something that would make me feel comfortable.”

Parker nodded. “Of course. We’ll figure it out.”

He opened his arms and Lonnie stepped into them. They held one another in silence then Parker leaned down to take a kiss. It was quick, but thorough. He gestured with his hand toward the door.

“Shall we?” He winked. “I believe your ride is here.”

Lonnie rolled his eyes. “That’s
so
not necessary.”

“Hospital rules, gorgeous. Let’s go.”

Little flutters filled his belly at Parker’s words. He plopped down into the chair, keeping his bad arm raised so that it didn’t bang against the metal rest. He laid it gently down as the attendant wheeled him out. They got to Parker’s car, a sort of generic Toyota that was a model he didn’t recognize. There was something very homey about Parker. He was a regular guy. Lonnie had always wished for an easy, comfortable life that he could share with someone he cared about and he wondered if Parker might be that someone. He represented the anti-wild life. Lonnie had experienced enough of that for one lifetime.

The drive to his mysterious new home at Parker’s apartment had him practically bouncing in the passenger seat. Parker had a top forty station playing and they’d get along fine as long as Parker didn’t turn out to be a classical or country music fanatic. His parents had loved both.

It had worked out so that Parker had a couple days off. He’d offered to take some additional vacation days to help Lonnie settle in, but he was already worried that he was a nuisance to Parker. Even though he’d been incredibly tempted to take him up on it so they could spend more time together, he’d forced himself to say no.

“We’re almost there.”

Parker pulled into a shopping center then parked. Lonnie was completely confused.

“Why are we here?”

“Your prescription, remember? Plus, you can pick out whatever grooming accessories you need. I didn’t want to decide on those for you.” Parker reddened. “Especially, you know, the makeup.”

Lonnie groaned. “Parker, I’m not interested in that anymore—”

“It’s okay. If you want to wear it, that doesn’t bother me. Whatever makes you happy.”

“Wearing makeup doesn’t make me happy. I only ever put it on because Valeena said Julio wanted all of his workers to have an image. So I was the dark and mysterious emo guy.” A tinge of sadness filled him. “She showed me how to use it.”

He lifted his gaze to see Parker staring at him intently. It was such a wonder to Lonnie how Parker made him feel as if he were the center of the universe. But he wanted him to understand how it would be from then on.

“I’m not that person anymore, Parker. I’m not Slade.”

“I know that, honey. We’re still learning about one another, and I’m looking forward to finding out all I can about Lonnie.” Parker leaned over from the driver’s seat to lace their fingers together. “Did Julio force that name on you?”

Lonnie grunted. “Ironically, it was mine, but he stole it from me. Slade Wolfgang’s a character I made up. He was real badass. I used to draw. I loved graphic novels and comics. I’d thought…” He shrugged. “It doesn’t matter.”

Parker brought Lonnie’s knuckles to his lips and placed a soft kiss on them. “Of course it matters. Eventually you’ll have an idea as to what direction you want to head, what you might want to do with your life. I’ll be there for you however I can.”

“You’ve already done so much. I don’t know how I’ll ever be able to repay you.”

“Enough. You’ve already said you’re going to pay me back, right? We don’t need to worry about that subject anymore.”

Parker’s voice had a bit of a sharp edge to it, which caught Lonnie off guard. Parker had always been so mellow around him. But then he noted that there was the play of a smile on his lips.

“Got it.”

Parker winked. “Good.”

After they’d finished their errands, they resumed their journey. Lonnie prayed that they wouldn’t stop anywhere else. All he wanted was to be truly alone with Parker for the first time since they’d opened up about their feelings for one another.

When they arrived at Parker’s building, Lonnie was more than a little impressed. It was new, clean and modern. Parker had already told him that he had a view of the Strip from the windows. That didn’t matter so much to Lonnie—he’d seen enough of that hellhole to hold him for eternity—but it did give Lonnie an indicator of how awesome Parker’s home was likely to be.

They both gathered up the purchases from the drugstore and what Lonnie discovered were additional bags of clothing for him. He kept his mouth shut despite the urge to protest over Parker’s spending. At the same time, deep down he acknowledged that it was cool how nice Parker was being to him. That it was nice to have someone care about him enough that they wanted to do something like that. It had been a hell of a long time since anyone had given a shit about him.

When they finally made it inside Parker’s apartment, Lonnie flew past impressed and crashed straight into overwhelmed. He’d only ever lived in run-down, crappy places. It wasn’t as if Parker lived in a palace, but the interior had the same feel as the exterior. Fresh and unblemished.

His mouth must have been hanging open because Parker chuckled as he regarded him. “Would you like a tour?”

“Yeah. Awesome.”

They dropped their bags on the long sofa then Parker showed him the guest bedroom and bath. Their next stop was the master bedroom. Parker began acting awkward. He wouldn’t meet Lonnie’s eyes and he couldn’t stand still.

“Knock it off, Parker.”

“What do you…?” He lowered his head, nodding it a little. “Okay. Busted.”

“Killer! I busted a cop.”

Parker smirked at him. “Funny.” He gestured to the closet that took up one wall, mirrored sliding glass doors shielding the interior. “There’s plenty of room in there for you. There’re also built-in cabinets in the passageway to the master bath. I keep bedclothes and towels in there, but there’s additional space if you should need it.” He paused, looking around. “Oh, and the dresser. There’s room in there too.”

Parker sounded nervous, so Lonnie didn’t want to point out that the only things in the world that he currently possessed were the clothes on his back, and what Parker had purchased for him that lay in bags out on the couch.

“That’s great, Parker. Thanks.”

They both fidgeted in the room, standing about ten feet from one another, the awkward silence stretching out between them.

“Would you hold me?”

Parker jerked his head up. “Oh, honey. Of course.”

Advancing toward him, Parker finally enfolded him in his warmth. Lonnie took in Parker’s scent—a combination of soap and his clean male aroma. He rested his head against the hard planes of Parker’s chest, liking how Parker’s body was tight, but not bulky. Lonnie wondered how it would feel without their clothes between them. As Parker held him, Lonnie hardened. His dick had already been semi-erect for most of the day, his anticipation of going home with Parker much too exciting.

They were flush to one another and it became obvious that Parker was hard for him too. Parker used his hands to wander over Lonnie’s torso, alternating between sweet caresses and gentle squeezes. He answered in kind, the chance to finally explore Parker’s body a thrill. As their breathing increased, they slowly ground into one another. Lonnie idly wondered if Parker kept lube and condoms in the bedroom. When he’d been in the hospital they’d screened him for STDs and he’d been relieved to discover that he had none.

Condoms and lube…

He must have tensed up because Parker stopped his ministrations then pulled away, still holding on.

“Is your arm bothering you? We can stop if it’s too much.”

He shook his head, his mouth dry all of a sudden. “It’s not that.”

“What is it then?”

“Do you ever, I mean, when you have sex are you the one…?”

He couldn’t believe what a dork he was being. With all the raunchy stuff he’d done with complete strangers, asking Parker a simple question about sex seemed insurmountable.

“Are you trying to ask me if I’m a top or a bottom?”

Lonnie exhaled, thankful that at least one of them could voice what was on Lonnie’s mind. “Yeah. I am.”

Parker nuzzled his ear then whispered the answer. “Both.”

Oh. That’s interesting information.

“Me too, but I haven’t topped in, like, forever. So, for right now, could you be the bottom?”

Parker chuckled next to his ear then snaked his tongue noisily inside it before nibbling at his lobe. He let go then answered Lonnie’s question, “Absolutely. I got myself ready for you. Just in case.”

Fuck yeah.

Lonnie relaxed in Parker’s arms, a resurgence of arousal urging him on. He wanted Parker nude on the bed, wanted him displayed for him, his legs open the way they’d been in his fantasy. His stiffened flesh pressed against the fabric of the new black jeans Parker had bought for him. His discomfort rose as Parker ground into him even harder than before.

“Mmm. Lonnie, yes.”

“Let me take off your clothes.”

Parker drew back, a hint of surprise in his expression. “Do you want me to stay standing, or do you want me on the bed?”

Lonnie couldn’t hold back a grin. It was perfect. “The bed.”

Parker did as he asked and Lonnie fell to his knees in front of him. He hurriedly pulled off shoes, yanked at the belt and undid buttons—Parker helping wherever he could. Once he was down to his boxers, Lonnie slowed down.

Oh, Jesus. This is it.

He licked his lips, his hands shaking in anticipation of what he was sure would be a beautiful cock. He slowly peeled back the elastic waistband of Parker’s underwear until his straining erection popped free. The full crown was dark red and dewy with pre-cum. Lonnie swiped up the salty liquid with his tongue, Parker gasping as his dick twitched in response.

As he continued to unveil Parker’s rigid shaft, Lonnie kept his gaze fixed on his prize. Parker was thick and cut. One large vein snaked up his length along with a few smaller ones that were visible under his skin. His balls were shaved, but a trimmed cluster of brown hair decorated the base of his penis. Lonnie had ached to touch, to taste Parker for days. The reality of Parker before him was incredible.

“Lie on your back for me.”

Parker swallowed, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down. He did as Lonnie requested while Lonnie divested himself of his own clothing. Parker’s tight, fine body was dusted with dark hair on his legs and a smattering of curls on his pecs. The line of a sparse treasure trail met his pubes and Lonnie couldn’t believe his fortune. He’d never dared to dream that he would have such a magnificent man who wanted to be with him.

Lonnie crawled on the bed and lay next to Parker. He let his gaze wander over Parker’s body some more, idly caressing his soft skin, playing in the spots of hair on his torso. When he raised his eyes and met Parker’s staring back at him, a sudden wave of shyness swept over him.

He remembered his too thin, bruised and battered body. As it was, he was having to lean funny to favor his arm as well as try not to bang into Parker with the brace. It occurred to him that his fantasy of driving his cock into Parker’s slick heat would be impossible with his still-healing injury. Something in his expression must’ve told on him. Parker reached his hand over to caress Lonnie’s shoulder.

“What is it, honey?”

Talk about a mood ruiner.

“I’m such a mess. I look horrible and I can’t even support my weight on my bad arm so I can fuck you.”
