Soft fingers brushed his chest hair while Clinton lay exhausted in the middle of the bed. He didn’t know where Jenisha got the last burst of energy, but he was glad that she did.
“I could stay like this forever,” Jenisha said.
He kissed the top of her head. “I agree with you, but I think Hayward and True might miss us.”
“I can’t disagree with you. What person in their right mind would leave this comfortable bed?” Jenisha exclaimed. “Can’t we cancel our plans for tonight and stay in bed? It’s already so late.”
Picking up the phone, Clinton punched in Hayward’s room’s phone number and it took a few minutes until he answered. He spoke to his brother and then hung up. “It seems like my brother had the same idea, so I guess you get your wish.”
Jenisha crawled on his chest to stare into his eyes. “Can you think of anything we can do with all this free time we have now?”
Clinton massaged her lower back, staring deep in her eyes. “I have an idea.”
“Spill it,” she said, kissing his chest.
“Let’s make a baby.”
Jenisha felt her heart stop. “What did you say,” she asked, sliding off his chest. Rolling over to her side, Jenisha stared at him. “Why do you want to make a baby so soon?”
“I want us to have a family soon as possible, don’t you,” he asked, running a long finger down her arm.
“Yes, I want us to have a family more than anything,” she admitted.
“Then I say the sooner we get started the better, don’t you?”
Jenisha caressed his cheek with one finger. “Clinton, if you can make me pregnant. I’ll be the happiest woman in the world.”
“Well, I better get started,” he remarked, kissing her.
The moonlight highlighted a scared woman sitting in a chair watching a man in bed sleep with dreams of a family in his head. She wondered how long it would be before he found out about the lies and deceit. Jenisha dropped her head into her lap and cried silently at the empty feeling inside of her. She wished it could change, but knew it wouldn’t.
Sunlight shined into the room accompanied by a light breeze which blew the white, sheer curtains and cooled down the heated room. Jenisha sat on the bed and braided her hair. Clinton and Hayward had gone down to the beach for a morning run and True was out looking for presents for Kevan and Evan.
She had told all of them she wanted this time alone to think about the wedding. Things had been going so well the last three days with Clinton. This vacation had turned out so much better than she thought it would.
Jenisha hadn’t been to the spa yet because True wanted to go, but Hayward didn’t want a strange man’s hand rubbing on True’s body. True told Hayward that was nonsense and how he shouldn’t be jealous and then she scheduled a massage for them later on that afternoon. She loved how the two of them could disagree and then forget it about it in the next breath. She wanted a marriage like that with Clinton.
Hopefully that was a good sign for the marriage. As she was falling asleep last night in his arms, he had mumbled how much he wanted to make all her dreams come true.
If he only knew how he had already done that,
she thought.
“Hey, are you going to hide in here all day long? I thought this was our vacation?” Clinton asked from the doorway.
Walking over to her and sitting on the bed, he wrapped his arms around her, covering her body with his sweaty body. “Clinton, get off me,” she giggled, shoving at his chest. “You need to take a shower.”
Hope lit up his moss green eyes. “Will you join me?”
“No, I have to meet True for our spa appointment,” she answered, getting off the bed.
Standing Clinton pulled the damp shirt over his head. “Hayward isn’t happy with the spa choice at all. He was talking about it on our run. Complaining about how a strange man’s hands didn’t need to be on his wife’s exquisite body.”
She looked at Clinton. “Why aren’t you upset about me going?”
He stopped at the bathroom door to answer her. “Because I know another man can’t touch you as good as me,” he stated and shut the door.
Jenisha laughed as she left the room to go get her partner in crime for a day at the spa. She only hoped that Hayward had changed in mind.
Jenisha knocked on the door again. “True Campbell come out of that room right now,” she said. They were going to be late and lose their appointment if True didn’t come out of that room in the next eight minutes.
The door opened a crack and True glanced out. “I’m trying to get out of here, but Hayward won’t let me.”
Pushing the door open, Jenisha walked into the room and found Hayward standing there with his arms folded and a scowl on his face. Dark blue eyes narrowed at her. “I know this was your idea,” he said.
“Hayward, stop throwing a fit. What would your sons say?” True teased with a wink.
A growl came from deep in his throat, “You aren’t funny.”
“Clinton doesn’t have a problem with me going,” Jenisha said.
“Clinton is dumber than I thought if he doesn’t mind a strange man’s hands rubbing all over you.”
“Sweetheart, it’s just a spa treatment and that’s it,” True stated, walking over to him. “I want to enjoy all the benefits of being here…unless you don’t think I deserve to get something nice,” she said in a hurt voice.
Jenisha was shocked by the transformation on Hayward’s face at True’s words. “Baby, you know I don’t feel that way,” he choked out.
“Sure, whatever,” True said, turning away from Hayward.
He wrapped True up in a tight embrace and kissed the side of her temple. “True, don’t turn away from me. You know how much I hate it when you do that. I apologize for overreacting about the massages. Go ahead with Jenisha and have a good time,” He said. “I have some business matters to discuss with Clinton anyway. Tonight we can have dinner with just the two of us.”
Grinning, True spun around in Hayward’s arms and kissed him on the lips. “I’m so happy you changed your mind.” Grabbing Jenisha by the hand, True quickly pulled her out of the room and shut the door.
“How did you do that?” Jenisha asked, pointing back at the room.
“What are you talking about?” True questioned, glancing at her from the side of her eye.
“You made Hayward feel so bad that he changed his mind without a moment’s thought. He actually thought it was his idea and not yours.”
“Oh that,” True said with a wave of her hand. “Comes from a lot of practice. My hubby also knew he was wrong and didn’t want to admit it, so I gave him a way out. Let’s go and get rubbed down by sexy guys,” True giggled.
“Jenisha and the others will be back in a few days. Is everything set up according to plan?” Mark asked Stephanie Griffin.
“We have a few more things to do, and Miss Roman will get the surprise of her life when school starts,” Stephanie answered.
“Excellent, I love it.” Mark grinned, rubbing his hands together. “She will finally get what she deserves, and my brother will be so happy to hear it when I visit him in a few hours.”
“See how much better things work out when you do things my way?” Mark stated. “I was having a bad feeling about you and your husband. I’m so glad I was wrong.”
“We want Clinton Campbell to pay, and you did find the perfect way,” Stephanie answered with a forced smile. He’ll get blamed for having too many flammable supplies in the shield and that will be the end of his career. He might even get some jail time too.” She was scared shitless, but she wasn’t about to let Mark know it.
Mark got up from the park bench. “Well, I have to go, and I probably won’t need to meet with you again until after school starts. I don’t want Jenisha figuring anything out; she’s a very intelligent woman,” he pointed out, putting on his dark sunglasses. Tell your husband I said
hello
.” Mark strolled toward the park exit, smiling briefly at an attractive female jogger.
Stephanie prayed he didn’t notice her hands shaking. Mark Kimball truly scared her with his calmness. She never knew when he was upset. He never once thought about changing his plan of killing Jenisha, and that terrified her.
What if he decided at the last minute he didn’t want any witnesses left?
He could kill William and her without a second thought. That’s why she was trying to please him as much as she could. Hoping she had waited long enough for him to be gone, Stephanie went toward the exit to her car.
“Clinton, this place is breathtaking,” Jenisha praised, kissing him on the cheek.
“Darling, I only want the best for you,” he stated, looking into her eyes.
“Do we need to leave?” Hayward asked, sitting across from him. Clinton threw his brother a dirty look.
“Hayward, you leave them alone. I think it’s so cute how he wants to please her,” True scolded.
Hayward laid his hand on True’s thigh. “Okay, baby, I’ll stop teasing him,” he answered.
“What’s the name of this place again?” True asked.
“Alice’s Key West. I found out about in on the Internet,” Clinton replied.
“I love how we can get out here on the patio,” Jenisha added to the conversation. “After we eat I think we should go and listen to the piano bar. I heard several customers talking about how marvelous it was.”
“Did everyone enjoy their meal,” Clinton asked everyone, but his eyes were only focused on Jenisha.
“Yes, the Tuna tempura roll with honey-wasabi was delicious,” Jenisha said.
“My Lacquered duck with crisp, fat-free skin was also very scrumptious,” True answered.
Hayward turned in his seat to look at his wife. “Whose duck was it, sweetheart?” he questioned, holding back a laugh.
“All right, my Caesar salad didn’t fill me up and I had a little of your duck, baby,” True confessed.
Hayward kissed her temple. “You know I don’t care. I love how you have a healthy appetite for food and other things,” he whispered, lowering his voice.
Clinton and Jenisha laughed from their side of the table. True hit her adorable husband with her napkin and joined in with the laughter.
Standing near the window and staring out at the ocean, Jenisha waited for Clinton to finish his shower; he loved taking a shower before he retired for the night. They had cut dinner short because their flight left at eight o’clock the next morning. She couldn’t believe in less than a month she would be married to a hot and very sexy man. All her dreams were coming true.
Strong arms wrapped around her waist. “Did you miss me?” a deep voice asked.
“I have to think about it.”
Clinton growled against her neck. “That isn’t anyway to talk to your fiancée,” he joked.
Jenisha raised her left hand, still overwhelmed by the huge diamond staring back at her. “You know I never expected a diamond this big?”
Clinton spun her around so she could see his hypnotic green eyes, “I’m only getting married once in my life and that is to you, Miss Jenisha Roman. So I think my one and only wife qualifies for the best ring, don’t you agree?”
“Are you prepared to live with another person? I know you have been alone so long and might be set in your ways. Plus, are we going keep my house or yours?” She ran her fingers through Clinton’s chest hair. God, she couldn’t get over how much she loved his body.
“I thought we should sell both homes and combine the money to buy a bigger one with an extra guestroom and a nursery. How do you like that idea?” he commented as if the answer was obvious.
“I think you’re the smartest man in the world,” she muttered.
“I know I am because I chose you to be my wife,” Clinton said. Picking her up, he carried her over to the bed. “Let’s start working on the future Clinton Campbell’s’,” he mumbled on her lips.
The next two weeks flew by in a blur for Jenisha, and her wedding day was upon her before she knew it. “True, are you sure I look beautiful?”
True started at her best friend in awe. “Jenisha, you look stunning in that white satin dress, and lacy detailing around the bodice only adds to its beauty. Clinton is going to be blown away.”
“God, I can’t believe this day has finally arrived and nothing has gone wrong yet.” Jenisha sighed, looking at her reflection in the floor length mirror.
She was secretly glad that she contacted Keith the same day Clinton told her he wouldn’t ask anymore questions about him. If she hadn’t, this day wouldn’t be happening for her. She hated keeping her secret from Clinton, but she couldn’t risk losing him over it. She never loved Keith the same way she was in love with Clinton.
Later that week Keith had called her and informed her that Clinton had gotten in touch with him, but like he promised he had kept her secret. She couldn’t believe Keith still cared enough about her after all these years to hold her secret. She was forever indebted to him.
“Jenisha, don’t think like that,” True scolded, fixing a last few things on her and drawing her attention back to her wedding day.
A knock at the door drew their attention and Mr. Roman entered the room. “Baby girl, you look so beautiful. I don’t know if I’m ready to give you away or not.”
“Daddy, it’s time,” Jenisha said with a huge grin. “I know, but if he hurts you in any way, he’ll answer to me,” he warned.
Jenisha went up to her father and kissed him on the cheek. “Daddy, Clinton loves me and I love him.”
“Alright, sweetie, then I guess I don’t have anything to complain about,” her father muttered and walked out the door with her on his arm and True a few steps behind them.
True walked in ahead of them, stopping at the closed door. “Take a deep breath because you life is about to change,” she whispered as the music began to play.
The church door opened and True walked in, followed by a stunning Jenisha only a few moments later. Clinton couldn’t take his eyes off his future wife as she made her way down the aisle. For the tenth time today he t
The wedding service was romantic and breathtaking, causing everyone to cry as the vows were said. All the guests noticed how truly in love the couple was with each other. After the service, the reception was fun yet relaxed which was the way Jenisha wanted it.
After an hour at the reception, Clinton was finally able to drag Jenisha away from the guests so they could change into their traveling clothes. When they left, the partygoers were outside waiting for them to throw birdseeds at them. Finally, maneuvering Jenisha into the limo, Clinton pulled her into his arms for a long passionate kiss.
“Hello, Mrs. Clinton Campbell.”
“Hi, yourself, Mr. Clinton Campbell,” Jenisha whispered.
Clinton embraced his new wife, hoping she could feel all the love in his body pouring into hers. “Baby, I love you so much. I hope I can make you the happiest woman in the world.”
Jenisha ran her fingers across new husband’s lips. “You already have by making me your wife.”
