“You scared the shit out of me, I’m holding onto to you more for me than you.”

She stopped and turned into him then wrapped her arms around him and laid her head on his chest, “Oh Max, what am I going to do with you?”

“Hold on to me and never let me go. The last two weeks has been the worst time of my life. I thought I lost you.” He kissed her head and kept her wrapped up tight in his arms. They heard a knock on the door and she let him go. “That must be breakfast.”

“Oh my, I hope it doesn’t make me sick.”

“Me too.” He opened the door and the waiter rolled in the cart, “Where would you like me to set it up?”

“On the patio would be great.” He kept Rory behind him - he didn’t want the guy looking at her in her robe. No need to tempt the man. He signed for the bill and led him out the door.

“Why were you standing in front of me?”

“Because I did not want the guy to see you in your robe and get any ideas.”

She started laughing and couldn’t stop; literally couldn’t stop. “I didn’t think it was that funny.”

“You have lost your ever lovin’ mind, Max Bishop. I am wrapped up from my chin to my ankles and my hair is sticking out and I have no makeup on and I’m pale from being sick and traveling. No one is going to be tempted by what I have going on here.”

“You are very wrong, you are the most beautiful woman in the world. You are alluring, sexy, funny and smart, and there is not a man alive who would not want to get at you.”

“I think that you are the only one who sees me that way which works out for me…. since I love you.

“I love you too. When did you decide that you love me?”

“It took me a week to get over my mad and then another week to figure out what I felt for you. I never had any space or time to really think about it. I was flying over Oklahoma looking out the window at the floor of clouds, and the sun was shining and making patterns against the clouds. I decided to make a choice out of hope and not fear. You were so unexpected to me, I didn’t understand your effect on my mind and heart. I didn’t know what to do with all the feelings you were stirring up in me.”

He engulfed her in his arms and kissed her head, it was his silent prayer of thanks for being blessed with this woman. “I thought I lost you. I thought I made you too crazy to want to take me on.”

“Oh, I’m going to take you on, and then I’m going to make sure that I’m the one making you crazy. No more of your nonsense Max Bishop. You need to trust me and not go crazy every time you think you can’t protect me. I understand what I’m asking you is almost impossible, but that is not going to stop me from asking. I need to move you down the scale from bat shit crazy to slightly over cautious.”

“I promise that I will do my best, but I don’t want you to think that I’m suddenly going to have a different personality.”

“I understand that what I see is what I get. Probably as you get older, it’s only going to get worse. I’m asking you to moderate it to a manageable level of crazy.”

“I can probably do that.”

He watched her nod her head, “See that you do.” She leaned up and kissed him, “I’m going to try to eat. I haven’t been able to keep anything down for a couple of days.”

“I ordered a lot of different things, because I wasn’t sure what would sound good to you.” He took her over and settled her in her seat and started to lift covers off the plates. “Anything look good to you?”

“I think I will try the waffles and maybe some tea.”

“No coffee?”

“It doesn’t smell good to me, that’s the first time in my life that’s happened. It’s so weird.”

“We have a doctor’s appointment at 1:00. Joel recommended someone and he’s not far from here.”

She covered her mouth in horror, “I totally flaked out on him. I was supposed to call him and I never did. That’s the first time in my adult life that I have ever missed an appointment. I’m so embarrassed, he must think I’m awful.”

“He does not. He was the one who called me yesterday morning when you were a no show.”

“By the way, how did you end up in my hotel room? How did you find me?”

“Derick and Frank worked their magic on their computers and found you in about two hours. Joel came right to the hotel and checked on you until I got here. Bob made the plane available to me, and I was wheels up within an hour of receiving the call that you had not contacted Joel.”

“This was like an op to you, wasn’t it?”

“No. I was scared out of my mind, and that never happened on an op. The thought of losing you almost knocked me out. Fifteen years on the teams left me with enough muscle memory to function. I went into combat mode and got my ass to Miami as quickly as I could.”

“Oh Max, you didn’t have to do all of that. I just caught a bug or something.”

“Please understand that this was not a big deal to me. I would do this fifty more times in a similar situation. I told you, I’m not real comfortable if I don’t have eyes on you.”

“Is this because you met me when I had a stalker after me? Maybe if we met normally you would feel more relaxed.”

“I’m not a real relaxed kind of guy. If I think the woman I love is in danger then I’m going to do whatever I have to do to make sure you are safe.”

“I feel embarrassed that I caused all this fuss - just because I don’t feel well.”

“Please don’t, I can assure you that no one thinks of it that way. All the guys would do the same thing.”

“You all have a weird sense of normal. Did you hack into any federal databases?”

“No, we didn’t have to. Derick found you before that was necessary.”

“I’m going to learn not to ask questions that I don’t really want the answers to.”

“That might be a good idea.”

“These waffles taste pretty good, I feel ok so far. I think I’m finished though.”

“You didn’t eat anything. Do you want to try and eat a little more?”

“No, this is the first thing that has stayed down in several days. I don’t want to tempt fate.”

“Why did you change hotels?”

“I think I was feeling a little crazy. I felt so sick, and I thought if I could smell the ocean then maybe I would feel better. I stayed here as a kid with my family. It was the only hotel that I could think of on the beach.”

“Why didn’t you use the corporate credit card?”

“Because I thought it would be expensive, and it wouldn’t be right to charge it to the business.”

“Well, you could have used the credit card I gave you.”

“I didn’t bring it. I don’t need it -I have my own credit cards.” She watched him start to get mad, he tried very hard to control himself and was counting to ten.”

“Before you lose your mind remember that I don’t feel well. You wouldn’t want to get mad at someone who is sick.”

“That’s not fair, Rory.”

“I know, but I’m too tired to be yelled at. Can you save it for later?”

“I was not going to yell.”

“You sure looked like it, you have a pretty good mad going right now.”

“I love you, and I want to take care of you and make you happy. Please let me do that.”

“All right, you can take me shopping. Even though I’ve been sick, I think I have gained weight. None of my clothes are comfortable and I don’t feel like getting myself into them. Plus look at my boobs.” She opened her robe to show him and watched his eyes go buggy and his mouth go slack. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to flash you, but they have gotten bigger. That hasn’t happened since I was in high school.”

He stood up in a flash of motion, picked her up and took her over to the bed and gently laid her down. “Baby I know you don’t feel well, but can we make out a little? I need to get my hands on you - otherwise I may lose my shit.”

“That’s so eloquent, how could I resist?”

“I’m lucky I got that out. My mind is so blasted by lust that I can’t form a sentence. I missed you like crazy.”

She pulled him down, kissed him and felt the air leave his lungs. He fell into the kiss as he slipped his tongue inside her mouth. She tasted sweet and perfect and completely uniquely her. He inhaled her scent and realized that it had gotten inside of him. He felt relief beyond measure that she was safe.
His woman was safe.
He had a sudden urge to consume her, to absorb every ounce of her every way he could. If he could fuse their bodies together he would. He felt her hand on his face and he opened his eyes to look into hers, “How are you doing sweetheart? Is this too much?”

He felt her open her legs and he was positioned perfectly, “I think I missed you like crazy too. I’m dying to have you.”

Without another word he allowed himself the pleasure of kissing her face, her neck and moved his way down her luscious body. She did seem more voluptuous,
Damn! How could she become sexier?
He ran his callused palms over her naked flesh and let his thumbs swipe across her nipples causing her to shudder. All of the fear he had felt before he laid eyes on her last night had quickly transformed into acute sexual tension. He would take that any day over the angst he felt when he didn’t know where she was.

He was about to lose it completely and quickly got rid of his shorts and covered her completely. He slipped his hand into her folds to see if she was ready and discovered she was wet, “Max quit playing around… I’m ready.”

“Your wish is … my command.” He pushed into the tight restrictiveness that he loved and heard her moan. He took a second stroke and seated himself completely. He felt a bead of sweat on his brow as he tried to control himself and slow down. He felt her legs go around his waist as he pushed against her again. He felt her wet welcoming heat and knew he was home. He began an even steady stroke and felt her move against him, “Open your eyes - look at me baby.”

She slowly opened her beautiful green eyes and stared at him and let a smile form on her lips. “I sure missed you.” Once he heard her words he started to increase the tempo and felt her tighten around him. He swelled even larger inside of her as she pulled on him, then he pushed into her one final time, filling her completely as he exploded. A thousand bright lights went off in his head. He held himself still as she continued to contract around him for several long moments. He knew the feelings he had for her were a little insane, but he was ok with that. He just needed to make sure she was going to be ok with how much he loved her.

He ran his mouth up her neck and kissed her ear and her face and her mouth and felt her shudder. “I love you and I missed you.” He lifted his head and looked at her face; she was smiling and a single tear ran down her face. “Baby, are you ok?”

“I’m just really emotional lately, don’t pay any attention to me.”

“That’s never going to be possible.” He rolled off and pulled her in, he felt her lips against his chest and her hand against his heart. “I’m glad I came to Miami and found you.”

“Me too. I’m glad you didn’t bring in the team to rescue me from whatever bug I’ve caught.” She didn’t hear him respond so she looked up and noticed his blank expression, “Is this where I don’t ask questions that I don’t want answers too?”

He nodded and kissed her head. She didn’t need to know that he and Joel had five guys on call if they found something they didn’t like. It wasn’t like he asked for a full squad - he felt it was a fairly controlled response to the situation. He just didn’t think she would share his opinion. “How are you feeling? Do you want to get up and go shopping before your doctor’s appointment?”

“Do we have time?”

“Let me look up the where the doctor’s office is.”

“I’m going to get in the shower, let me know when I get out.” He watched her get up and walk into the bathroom, something about her had changed. He couldn’t figure it out but he would. Even though she had been sick for several days she looked luscious and vibrant.

He decided to join her, because he hadn’t quite gotten his fill yet. He needed to get his mouth on her a little more. He walked into the bathroom and slipped in the shower, “Need help with your back?” She turned around and handed him a wash cloth and smiled. It took them a long time to get out of the shower, they were very clean after they were done.

CHAPTER TWENTY TWO

They walked around the shops in Bal Harbor and found one of Rory’s favorite shops: La Perla. “You’re going to enjoy this store. I don’t think they will let you in the dressing room, but you can sit in the chair and think about what I may be buying.” She looked over and appreciated the big smile he had on his face.

“I think I like shopping after all, I’ve never done this before. Is this what you do when you go to the mall… buy bras and panties?”

“Not all the time, but I will make sure that I invite you when I do.” They walked in and Rory started looking around, and Max sat in a chair tracking her around the store. She would hold something up, and he would smile and wink at her. She had never seen anything sexier: her big bad, spec ops - warrior boyfriend was sitting in the most feminine environment that existed and looked completely comfortable. There was something very sexy about how male he was in contrast to the store. It actually made him seem even more virile, which she didn’t think was possible.
