Neither of them was able to hold back
much longer; in only a few minutes, Jennifer heard Damon’s low,
growling groan, before the first spasms of pleasure racked her. She
rode him hard and fast through her orgasm, her thighs tight, and
her hips moving as if with a will of their own as wave after wave
of sensation washed through her. The spasms began to abate, and
Jennifer collapsed against Damon, shuddering and shaking, as his
arms wound tightly around her, holding her close.

For a long moment, they both lay like
that, panting and gasping for breath. Jennifer was dimly aware of
the thundering of Damon’s heart in his chest, echoing her own
rapidly beating pulse. She smiled to herself, deeply satisfied in
spite of the faintly tender soreness she could feel between her
legs. After a while, Damon’s hands came to life along her body,
caressing her, soothing the tremors that worked through her spine
and out along her arms and legs. He pulled her face up to his and
kissed her slowly but hungrily, holding her tightly. “You feel so
good, Jenny,” he said, giving her shoulders a brief squeeze. “I
can’t imagine being with anyone else but you.” Jennifer smiled
against his lips, breathing in the scent of him.

“You know,” she said, pulling back
slightly and looking down into his golden eyes. “I haven’t let
anyone call me Jenny since my parents died.” Damon’s eyes widened
slightly.

“It doesn’t upset you, does it?” he
asked her, his voice full of concern. Jennifer shook her
head.

“No. You—you can call me Jenny. No one
else.” Damon smiled slowly.

“I’m honored.” He kissed her again,
tumbling her onto the bed next to him and pulling the blankets over
them both.

For a while they lay like that,
kissing, touching, enjoying each other’s bodies without the urgent
desire they had felt before. Jennifer knew that she wanted more sex
with Damon—much more—but for the moment she was content to simply
feel him close, to know that he was really there, that they were
together and would remain that way.

As she came out of the deep haze of
pleasure that accompanied her orgasm, however, Jennifer’s mind
began to turn over. “We have to decide what to do,” she said,
looking up at Damon’s face, peering into his eyes.

“I know,” Damon said sadly. “I don’t
want to ever leave you—but I don’t know how things will be for us.
I don’t know if I really belong anywhere in the world.” Jennifer
curled up to Damon’s warm body, thinking that it was
interesting—the way he seemed to radiate so much heat. They didn’t
even need the room’s heater; he was so warm next to her in the
bed.

“You do belong somewhere,” Jennifer
said firmly, reaching out and brushing an errand strand of hair
back from Damon’s forehead. “You belong with me and me with you.”
Damon smiled slightly at the firm possessive tone of her voice. “We
can get far enough away from bigots like the people in my town. Not
everyone in the world is like that. We can find a place where you
can live, and we can be happy together.” Damon shook his
head.

“You have your studies, and then you
want to travel the world.” Jennifer shrugged.

“It’s only a few months until I finish
my degree,” she pointed out. “We can integrate you into human
society. You’re smart, you’ll catch on.” Damon looked
hesitant—almost disbelieving—but after a long moment, he
nodded.

“I want to be in regular human society.
I’ll have to find a way to indulge my bear half, but I want to know
the things I’ve missed out on for so long. I want to experience a
real, human life—not the life of a hermit. And I want to be with
you.” Jennifer wrapped her arms around him, burying her face
against his chest.

“We will find a way to do it. I promise
you, we’ll be happy and safe.” Damon kissed her temple
lightly.

“I believe you.” He dragged his lips
along her face until he came to her mouth; he kissed her with a
hunger just as intense as if he hadn’t yet reached his
orgasm.

They began to move together again,
touching and exploring each other’s bodies in a kind of sleepy
haze. After their long trek through the woods and after the events
of the day, Jennifer was half-asleep, but more than happy to use
the last bit of her consciousness to direct her hands in touching
Damon, her mouth in tasting his slightly sweat-salty skin. Damon
covered her body with his own and in a matter of moments they were
moving together, Damon plunging deep inside of her, rocking his
hips against hers. Jennifer felt him filling her up, felt the
tingling pleasure of proximity, of Damon’s skin against her, of his
hands along her curves, his cock deep inside of her. “I love you,
Jennifer,” Damon murmured. “I love you with all my heart.” Jennifer
smiled, feeling so happy that she thought she might explode out of
her own skin, so full of pleasure that she wasn’t sure how she
could possibly stand it.

“I love you too, Damon,” she replied,
her voice cracking, her breath hitching in her chest as she came
closer and closer to another orgasm. The friction built up between
their bodies, the tension mounting inside of Jennifer, deep between
her hips. She wanted the moment to never end, and at the same time
she wasn’t sure how much more of it she could possibly take. When
they both reached another orgasm, Jennifer and Damon collapsed to
the bed again, panting lightly in spite of the slow pace they had
assumed.

When they both recovered, Damon pulled
Jennifer into his arms and buried his face against her neck,
breathing in her scent. “Tell me again about your college,” he said
musingly. “I want to know what to expect.” Jennifer thought about
it sleepily.

“Well, there are some woods nearby,”
she said, yawning as she turned to face him. She draped her arms
around his shoulders, cuddling close. “You know, we should get some
food at some point. I might be hungry already, but I’m so happy
right now I can’t even tell.” Damon chuckled.

“I don’t believe you have enough energy
to get out of bed to eat.” Jennifer shrugged.

“Then I’ll eat in bed. You can do that
here.” Damon shook his head.

“How are you going to get the food?”
Jennifer pointed idly to the in-room phone, not bothering to look
at it.

“We call downstairs, we order food, and
they deliver. You can be the one to get out of bed, since you have
so much more energy.”

“I think we should take a nap first.”
Jennifer found no need to argue with that. She buried her face
against his chest and began to breathe in and out more deeply,
feeling safe and warm in the arms of the man she had only met about
a week before.

It was strange to her, that she could
contemplate changing the course of her life so completely after
knowing someone for such a short time. She knew that she wanted to
finish her studies; as much as she loved Damon, she couldn’t
abandon everything she had hoped to achieve in her life for him.
The fact that he supported her in that goal made it easier. She
knew that somehow they would find a way to integrate him into
society—into regular human life. It wouldn’t be easy; Damon had a
long history of distrusting humans for good reasons. And it would
take a long time for him to get used to not trapping or hunting or
foraging his food, to living in a regular house instead of a cave
in the woods. But, Jennifer thought as sleep began to take her
over, Damon would be more than capable of dealing with the
privations of an anthropological study in a “less developed”
community, where electricity was scarce and water was unreliable.
Maybe, she thought, they could integrate him that way; get him used
to the less technologically sophisticated community and then slowly
introduce him to the larger world.

Jennifer felt Damon’s breathing even
out and slow, and her body floated in a state that wasn’t quite
sleep as her mind turned over the possibilities for their future
together. In spite of the inevitable troubles ahead, and what they
would both have to sacrifice, Jennifer was confident that she had
made the right choice. They were both strong enough, independent
enough, to make their way in the world with nothing but each other.
Jennifer knew that even though she felt apprehensive, she could
rely on the werebear who held her so tightly, who had come to her
rescue even before he had known her. They would be all right, no
matter what they had to stand up against. She fell into a deep
sleep, contented and feeling safe for the first time that she could
remember ever since her parents had passed away, leaving her alone
in the world. She wasn’t alone anymore—and she would never be
again.
