Read Taurus: Book 3 in a Young Adult Paranormal Romance Series (The Zodiac Twin Flame Series) Online
Authors: Rachel Medhurst
‘I told someone that I had met my soulmate,’ I announced.
Kerry’s foot connected with the pad on my hand. She stopped bouncing when she saw I was being serious. I lowered my arms. We both sweated as we trained in the park. I wanted to make sure she could defend herself, just in case Nick tried to get revenge. It was still pretty precarious. We weren’t technically united.
She bit her lip as she watched me. Her hair was high on her head. Sweat covered her face. It looked sexy. Her body was starting to tone where we had been working out. I had asked her to be my case study. Uni had wanted me to start again.
‘Did you tell them that she died?’
I frowned. What was she talking about?
‘You might be a hairdresser, but you’re not a typical blonde.’
Her mouth dropped open. She kicked high. I managed to block her with a swipe of my arm. I dropped the block, but she didn’t give up. She swiped me again. Whose stupid idea was it to teach her to kick box?
I grabbed her calf. She had to hold onto my shoulder to stop herself from falling over.
‘Get off me!’ She laughed, trying to shove me away.
I pulled and she lost her footing. Swiping my arms under her, I managed to grab her to me. She punched my chest as I cradled her.
‘Let me go!’
Her anger was genuine so I dropped her. She fell to the floor, but I followed her down. She landed on her back. I lay over her, using my straight arms to keep distance between us. Her eyes widened as I lowered my face to hers.
‘I was talking about you,’ I whispered.
She went completely still as she stared at me. Our eyes locked in place. My muscles strained as I held myself above her. She blinked as her tongue flicked out and licked her top lip. I kissed the tip of her nose, which made her laugh.
‘Say something,’ I whispered.
She shook her head, chewing on her lip. What was wrong with her? She had been sending me all the right signals over the last couple of weeks. Sweat broke out on my forehead as the shaking in my arms got worse.
‘Taurus?’ she said. ‘Just bloody kiss me.’
My body dropped onto her. She giggled as I buried my hands into her hair and meshed my mouth with hers. Her moans egged me on. Even in the middle of Clapham Common in the middle of the day.
‘Get a room!’
The shout interrupted us enough to bring me back to my senses. I hopped up, pulling Kerry with me.
‘What are you doing here?’ I asked Cancer as she approached.
Aries followed behind with Natalie and Leo. Kerry linked her arm through mine. I stayed still, even though I wanted to shrug her off. I didn’t want the others knowing my business.
‘We decided a game of football was called for,’ Aries shouted.
Natalie punched his arm when he started to thrust his pelvis and point at me. He spun around to her, but she ran away. His metal legs held well as he gave chase.
Cancer rolled her eyes as she shook out a blanket and laid it on the grass.
‘Are you sure you want to be a part of our family?’ she asked Kerry as she offered me a lager.
Everyone froze, staring at the can that was held in front of me. Aries and Natalie slunk back over.
‘Have you got a soft drink in there?’
The desire to down the beer wasn’t there. Since leaving a comatose Nick on the table in that house, I had gone off drugs and drink altogether. They brought you down. They made you doubt yourself. They took away who you were and replaced you with an empty shell.
Cancer giggled as she threw the can to Leo and felt in her bag for a different drink. ‘Sorry!’
Kerry stroked the hair on my arm. I looked down at her and smiled. Her lips were swollen from my kisses, which made me want to do it again.
‘Have you explained anything to her yet?’ Leo said, strumming his guitar.
Aries kicked the ball at my tattooed brother. It rebounded off his leg. Leo jumped up and threw his guitar at Cancer, who only just caught it. He kicked the ball at Aries. It hit his shoulder. He growled in fun and went after the ball.
‘Explained what?’ Kerry asked me.
I wanted to play football. For the first time in years, I wanted to kick the ball around with the boys. Cancer’s eyebrows rose when I screwed up my face.
‘There’s a lot to explain, Taurus. You’ve got to get it right.’
‘It’s me you’re talking to. I’m always right,’ I said, smacking Kerry on the arse before going to join the lads.
I spun and ran backwards. Her mouth hung open. I spread my arms wide and winked. She shook her head and lowered herself next to Cancer.
‘Taurus!’ she shouted.
The warning came too late. I crashed into something tall and solid.
‘You idiot!’ Aries shouted as we both crashed to the ground.
The giggling reached me from across the park. The girls held their stomachs as I clambered to my feet. Aries grunted as I helped him up.
‘What’s wrong with you?’ he said. ‘I’ve never seen you so starry eyed.’
I shrugged and tackled the ball from between his legs. He grabbed my sleeveless shirt and stuck his metal leg out. My shin grazed on the bare aluminium.
‘You git!’ I cried, falling to the ground.
‘Foul play!’ Natalie shouted.
‘Penalty!’ Leo called.
I thrashed from side to side, acting like one of the pussy footballers that pretended to be hurt. To be fair, I had broken the skin on my leg.
‘Come on!’ Kerry called from the side lines.
Getting to my feet, I grabbed the ball and placed it on the ground. Aries jogged back and forth, ready to defend his fake goal. Taking a run up, I booted the ball straight past his head.
‘Yay!’ Kerry shouted.
I ran around the pitch, putting my shirt over my head and bumping straight into Leo.
‘Alright, mate, calm down!’
I ran straight towards the girls, but I couldn’t see. I ploughed into someone, knocking them flying. Kerry’s scent filtered up my nose. I wrapped my arms around her as we tumbled to the ground.
‘What is it with you trying to get on top of me?’ She laughed as I took the brunt of our fall.
She pulled my top off my head and planted a kiss on my forehead. I winked at her, unable to keep my hands from squeezing her to me. What had got into me?
‘I want you to tell me what’s so secret!’
I sighed as we sat up. Her hair was still tied on the top of her head. She took it out when she saw me looking. It fell down her back, the sun catching the blonde and reflecting it. Her stomach bulged very slightly. All I wanted to do was stroke it. I loved that she had a bit of meat on her. There was nothing sexier than a woman that had an appetite and didn’t obsess over her weight.
‘You might as well tell her now. She needs to be prepared.’ Cancer sipped her drink as she moved her sunglasses to her head.
‘Okay,’ I said, not minding when Kerry threaded her fingers through mine. ‘You see—’
‘Don’t do it! If you become a part of our family, you’ll never get rid of us. Trust me, you don’t want to go out with him…I mean, look at him!’ Aries had crept up from behind.
Leo tackled Aries to the ground right next to us.
‘He is right,’ I said, raising my eyebrows.
Kerry laughed and punched me on the arm.
‘Do I really have a choice?’
She flicked her hair over her shoulder as she looked up at me. Her blue eyes twinkled, which made me like her even more. She wanted me. I could see it.
‘No…unfortunately for you, you don’t have a choice,’ Leo said, sitting on our strongest brother.
‘Are they always like this?’ Kerry asked Cancer.
Natalie plopped herself down next to the girls and took a swig of lager. ‘Yep. You’ll get used to it.’
I smiled at my family. I was a part of them for once. I blended in with the group, instead of being an outsider.
‘Anyway! Fortunately for you, Kerry, you don’t have a choice. Leo is right. But who can blame you for wanting this?’ I gestured to myself.
All three girls shook their heads.
‘So…?’ Kerry said.
‘What?’
She pinched the skin on my arm. I yelped, causing the men to stop fighting.
‘Oh, just get on with it!’ Aries barked.
I swallowed, hoping Kerry wasn’t about to run screaming.
‘Okay. You,’ I pointed at her. ‘Me…’ My hand spun to point at me. ‘Soulmates,’ I started. ‘Twelve of us are not real brothers and sisters,’ I said, pointing at my siblings. ‘We have an enemy, trying to stop us from getting with our soulmates. I implanted him with a tracking chip so we can keep an eye on him. What can I say? I’m a genius.’
Kerry’s mouth was hanging open and her forehead was creased.
‘You’re a target. Although, we’re uniting now, so you should be safe. Now we just need to help the other nine to find their soulmates and BAM!’ I shouted, causing her to jump. ‘We’ll be free.’
Cancer giggled. Natalie tutted. Aries and Leo jumped up, ready for a proper game of football.
‘See, it’s simple,’ I said, leaning over and giving Kerry a quick kiss on the mouth before I joined my brothers on the pitch.
It really was that simple. Kerry stared after me. My soulmate. Although, a tiny part of my brain denied it. She was hot. We were good together. Wasn’t that enough? Why did we need a label? We didn’t.
‘Taurus!’ Cancer shouted.
I turned back to them but jogged on my feet.
‘You achieved the goal you set out to accomplish for Sophie!’
I glanced at Kerry. She beamed at me as she clapped along with my siblings. The round of applause was stupid. I rolled my eyes and went after the ball.
It wasn’t over. We hadn’t defeated Nick yet. He was still out there, plotting our demise and planning his revenge. He had no idea that we knew exactly where he was at any given moment. He would try to make sure that we didn’t fall in love.
For me, it was too late. Kerry had crept under my skin. She wasn’t going anywhere. We would carry on with the battle. We would win the war.

The pounding on the front door woke me. My room was quite far back from the kitchen. Whoever was knocking would break down the door if I didn’t answer.
‘All right, I’m coming!’ I shouted.
Stumbling as I rubbed my eyes, I made my way through the kitchen and to the front door. I had always wondered why the designer of the building would put the front door in the kitchen.
‘What?’ I barked, yanking the door open.
‘Gemini. Thought I would check up on you.’
Liam stood on the top step. Sunglasses covered his eyes. His blue suit was pristine in the midday sun. I stepped onto the top step, pulling the door behind me. I didn’t want him in my home. How did he even know where I lived?
‘I’ve still got three days,’ I said, running my hand down my stomach.
I hadn’t had a chance to put on a top. My suit trousers hung on my hips.
‘Well…I got bored of waiting.’ Liam clicked his fingers and two men came around the bottom of the steps. They rushed up them, pushing me into the door. It fell open where I hadn’t closed it properly. They dragged me into the kitchen and over to the table. Pulling out a chair, one of them placed me in it.
‘I have some of the money,’ I said.
‘How much?’
He gestured for someone to follow him into the house. When Athena came through the door, he closed it behind her.
‘Four thousand.’
Liam walked over to me, undoing the buttons on his cuffs as he did. His henchmen stood either side of me with their arms folded across their chest.
‘I hear you made a move on my woman. Is that true?’
My gaze shot to Athena. She watched Liam’s back, refusing to glance past him.
‘No I didn’t,’ I replied, trying to remember if I had.
