“While I was asleep?” he frowned. “How the hell is that a bad thing woman? I was asleep, you were asleep, and that’s a good thing. Besides, you can’t complain about lost time. I was the one drugged up to the gills for nearly two weeks straight. I barely remember the first couple of weeks Daisy.”

“No, now. Damn-it.” She yawned again. “They drugged me tonight too. Damn-it all.” She muttered. “Sleep honey, I need to sleep now ‘cause I can’t keep my eyes open any longer.”

6 months later…

“They are all awake and moving; trying to get used to the tech that they have. I will warn you now, when you rise you will notice that your sight and hearing are a great deal better than they were. I’m whispering.” She said with a smile, “I sound pretty loud to you don’t I?”

Shrugging, he pushed up slowly and rolled his head around on his neck. Wincing slightly he lifted a hand to rub at the base of his skull. “I still only feel a hell of a headache,” he muttered looking around. “Not seeing much of a difference so far,” he said to her. “And you really don’t sound all that loud, you sound like you’re whispering.”

“That’s odd.” Daisy frowned as she moved to have a seat at his side. “I don’t like that you woke up later than the others and that you aren’t feeling the effects as soon as they did as well. Maybe I should see if Mallory is able to come in and have a look at you?”

“I had better sight and hearing than they did to begin with D. I’m a sniper; I trained myself to be better than the others. But if it makes you feel better go and grab her. I’d love for her to tell me why my head is pounding,” he said looking at her. “But give me a kiss first and then you can run off.”

“A kiss, yes I can do that.” She said with a smile and moved into his arms. Wrapping her arms around him she kissed him, but then suddenly pulled back, “Mikhail, too hard.” She whimpered, very softly because she could barely breathe. “Hurts. Please.”

“That means that you will work harder and learn faster on controlling your strength. That’s the simple truth of it all honey.” She said with a shrug. “At least now we know that the tech is working in you, right?”

“I suppose, I just wish it had been some other sign,” he muttered. Pressing a kiss to her neck he lifted his head and looked at her. “But I still have a massive headache. Go and see if Mal’s available to see what’s up with that. If you don’t mind that is.”

“I don’t mind at all,” she whispered. Leaning in she kissed him again. “I love you.” She whispered and moved from him. “I will be right back with Mal okay? She will help you; we both know that she will.” She then left him and went to find Mallory to have a look at him and figure out why he had a headache.

Lifting his head when the women came over Mik smiled faintly. “Hey Mal,” he murmured. “I have a killer headache right now,” he said softly. “Got any idea why?” he asked her in the same quiet tone of voice.

Leaning in Mallory took out her light. “I hate to do this but I need to check your eyes. Are you going to be okay?” At his nod she quickly checked pupil response and then sat on the bed at his side. “It seems like the headache is likely attached to the fact that you are a sniper. Your brain processes sight and sound differently than we do because you have trained yourself for better visualization and hearing. Just rest. I will turn the lights down and send a warm pack for your head. I will order you some meds for the pain, nothing narcotic just good old fashioned Tylenol okay?”

“You sure?” he asked and tipped his head at her nod. “Alright Mal, I trust you on this. But if I end up with a big fat tumor up there I’m really going to be pissed at you.” Easing back onto the bed when she moved, he propped his knees up and put an arm over his face. “Hey Mal?” he murmured moving his arm just enough to look at her, “Thanks.”

Mallory smiled and nodded, “Anytime Mikhail, anytime. I think that having Daisy come and curl up into bed with you will do you a world of good as well. I will send her with the pack for your head and with the Tylenol. For now; just rest.” She said and walked out of the room, leaving him in darkness for his headache.

Opening his eyes at the smallest sound he smiled at Daisy. “Hey,” he murmured in a sluggish manner. He sounded like he was almost but not quite asleep. “Figured you were still riding the others and looking after them.”

“Nope. I am where I need to be.” Daisy moved so that she could pass him the cloth and then the Tylenol. “Here, take these and then I’m going to curl up in bed with you and we are going to take us a much needed nap.”

Taking the pills he dry swallowed them and then grinned when she gagged. Chuckling Mikhail shifted on the bed to give her space. “Sorry darling, don’t have patience for pills and the like. It’s just easier to get them down and get them working.”

“All right, as long as you are okay with it.” She told him and lay at his side, pulling the blankets up and around them. “Rest Mikhail. Get some sleep so that I can as well. We will talk more later, and hopefully your head will feel better then as well.”

“Kiss first,” he said softly touching her cheek lightly. Brushing his lips to hers he nipped lightly, “I love you D. Thank you for cuddling up with me. Did Mal tell you what was going on?” he asked settling down with her.

“I love you too and yeah, she told me everything.” Daisy licked her lips and moved so that she was closer to him, held him tighter. “Just sleep honey. We will worry about everything else later darling. For now we will just simply relax and rest okay?”

“You need to move a little Daisy. Need to be able to be comfortable and this is not how I like sleeping with you as you damn well know. Come on, flip your cute tush over so I can snuggle with you,” he smiled slowly.

“Oh all right.” Daisy grinned though and turned so that her back was to him and she lay on her side, his shoulder under her head. Shifting back so that her ass brushed against his thighs she muttered, “Come on honey, wrap your arms around me and hug me.”

“You are very welcome.” Daisy sighed as he wrapped her up in his large arms and pulled her close. A smile played around the corners of her lips as he pulled her in closer and she felt as if the world was right once more. “I love you Mikhail. Rest well honey.”

Sighing softly he gave her another squeeze before his arms went heavy, he was asleep.

“Don’t let Mik hear you say that,” Gareth groaned. “Your daddy M is a wee bit old fashioned and will likely blow a conniption if he hears you say such things. But don’t worry; we’ll talk him into helping you out too. The stuff he knows is scary and you’ve seen how he moves, that should tell you lots,” he grinned. “Go, your mom is starting to twitch.”

“Absolutely,” he said with a smile leaning in to kiss her. “Mm, you taste good babe. Not quite as good as other places,” he winked as he pulled back. “But that’s a subject for behind closed doors.” Stretching he turned to watch the other vehicles pull in, “Should be the last of the gang.”

“I’m very sure they will volunteer, just remind her to keep things toned down for a couple of days. We still haven’t got the hang of the volume control and everything else just yet.
