She ground her teeth and clenched her fists. “I need to get back to work. I’m on duty.”

“No, I believe they found you a replacement.”

“I’ll call security. Have them throw you back in the brig.”

“Your friend Haylie has given me her approval. Even gave me your clothing size.”

Sara covered her face with both hands and groaned. “I’m going to kill her.”

Gently, Davin took her wrists and pulled her hands away from her face. She looked suddenly very tired and very scared. He remembered what Kamran had said about her, and knew what that level of fear could do to a person. It had her running and he knew the type of damage that would do to her. The only way she could get over this was to face it head on.

He’d been tempted to try to help but had pulled away before he got too close. Now a small part of him wished he had despite his reservations. Right now she didn’t need tenderness. His fiery doctor needed to have an insane amount of fun. Davin took a step closer, using his height to seduce her. It seemed to work, as her breathing grew shallow and her gaze flicked from his lips to his chest and arms.

“Your friends have all agreed you need a night with a scoundrel. You need to forget the rules and enjoy yourself.”

“And are you a scoundrel?” Her voice quivered slightly as she spoke.

“You’re about to find out.” He leaned in and licked her bottom lip. She tasted soft and sweet, more tempting than he wanted to admit. “Consider yourself kidnapped. Put on the outfit in there and be back at this door in ten minutes.”

“And what if I take longer. Or don’t come out at all?”

Davin smiled, reached around and cupped her ass with his hand, squeezing hard.

“I’ll come in after you. Either way, you’ll have a good time.”

He shoved her gently backward into the room and let the door close between them.

Now he had to wait. He hated waiting. Crossing his arms across his chest, Davin pressed his back against the wall and closed his eyes.

The rumble of residual turmoil left over from his brief encounter with Sean was making his head ache. It had been a long time since he’d experienced contact with that kind of psychological hurt. He’d made a point of staying far away from damaged people, not knowing how strong his mental barrier really was. The buzzing left in his ears was driving him insane. Breathing deep, he tried to push it away, even though he knew it wouldn’t work. There was only one thing he could do—heal it.

Mentally, he corralled the turbulent emotions, getting them balled up in a small part of his mind. He didn’t let his guard down completely, scared he wouldn’t be able to regain his control once he was done. Davin concentrated on the pain, the guilt and used his long-rusty skills to smooth the emotions down. There was a sudden surge when Sean’s torment threatened to overtake him, trying to fuse with his emotions. With effort, he pushed them back. Over and over he stroked them, shrinking them until there was nothing left.

Davin exhaled a long, shaky breath. His body trembled as his hands tried to grip the smooth wall behind him. When he opened his eyes, his body felt lighter. The dull glow of the corridor lights was brighter than it had been a moment ago. He’d done it.

The whoosh of the door beside him caught his attention. When Sara stepped out, he forgot to breathe. The green silk of her dress clung to every curve of her body, drawing his gaze to her breasts and swell of her hips. The neckline was low, revealing the tops of her creamy, white breasts, making his mouth water. She’d pulled her blonde hair out of the binding she’d worn a few minutes ago and the long strands fell seductively over her shoulder and down her back. The bottom of the dress came to just below her knees but had a long split up the side to tease him with glances of her thigh.

“It’s not going to be much of a night out if we stand in the corridor staring at each other.” Her amused tone shook him from his infatuation.

Davin pushed away from the wall and offered her his arm. “I believe there is food at the bazaar. Hungry?”

When she slipped her arm into the crook of his, Davin felt his skin tingle. The top of her head came up to his jaw and her body fit nicely against his. His cock sprang to life and he had to think of every disgusting thing in the sector to try to calm his raging desire. They walked the nearly empty corridors in silence until they were finally in the hall that led to the bazaar.

“Where did you get this dress? I didn’t think they had anything like it here,” she asked, breaking the silence between them.

“Your friend. She said it was going to be your birthday present.”

Sara sighed. “I should have known.”

“I love it.” He bumped her body as they walked.

“You would.” She bumped back.

She looked up at him and he couldn’t help but wink at her. Her lips twitched into a small grin. His heart rate picked up speed and he found himself lost in her blue eyes.

The entrance to the bazaar was in front of them and there was already a crowd of people swarming the various booths. Laughter rolled above the chattering and the buzz of good emotions pricked at Davin’s mind. When a trio of miners walked past them and whistled at Sara, she stiffened. The only thing that kept Davin from turning around and smashing them in the face was how Sara clung a bit harder to his arm.

“Do you want to go back?” he asked softly.

Sara’s jaw tightened for a moment and her back stiffened. Then, just as suddenly, her whole body relaxed. She spun around to face him, grabbed both his hands and grinned.

“There was a time not that long ago I would have joined those three guys just to see what kind of trouble I’d get myself into. Since the attack…let’s go have some fun.”

The rebel in him grinned back. “I’m sure I can get you into more than enough trouble for your liking.”

The next several hours were all a blur to him. He laughed, ate and drank more than he had in months as they walked through the crowds of the bazaar. Davin’s head was spinning, not from the alcohol but rather from Sara’s constant touch. She had a fascination with his arms and the tattoos that covered them. At one point, when someone had bumped into him and gotten some sort of food on his biceps, Sara was there.

“Let me clean that up for you,” she said in a low, seductive voice. Leaning in, she ran her tongue up his arm, licking up every last spot of the sticky substance. “Yummy.”

Before he had a chance to grab her for a kiss, Sara pulled away laughing and made her way through the crowd to one of the colony’s bars. The music pounded into his chest when Davin finally caught up to her in the middle of the floor. People of all races were dancing, drinking and laughing, their bodies being pressed together before pulling apart.

Sara closed her eyes and began to sway to the rhythmic sounds. She was more relaxed than she’d been since he met her and Davin found the change in her intoxicating. She was wild and free, an attitude he’d chased for himself his entire life.

He spun her around and pressed her body against his.

Keeping her eyes closed, Sara swayed against him, her hands reaching up to trace a pattern over his chest and down to his hips. They were bumped and she fell forward, pressing her breasts hard against him. He could feel her erect nipples through the thin fabric of her dress. His cock somehow grew harder and Davin couldn’t hold back anymore. He grabbed Sara by the hips and ground against her.

Her eyes flew open as she gasped. He ground again, this time in beat with the music, so anyone watching would think they were simply dancing. But not Sara. He could tell by her eyes that she knew exactly what he was doing.

Marking her for his own.

Her hands found the edge of his black shirt and slipped beneath. She raked her nails along his stomach just above the waistband of his pants. Teasing, she ran her thumbs over his stomach muscles, each tingle going straight to his cock.

“You’re killing me,” he groaned.

Sara looked around, and seeing something, began to pull at him. “Come with me.”

It took them a while to push their way through the crowd. Anonymous hands would reach out and touch him, caressing his back and ass as he passed people. Sara wasn’t immune to their touch either as both men and women reached out for her. With every touch, she squeezed his hand tighter, scare to get lost in the crowd. Finally, they emerged from the crowd close to the bar. Sara waved to a man and led Davin through a side door and into a short hallway. The loud music still reached them though it was now muted by the door. Davin pushed her against the wall and licked a trail from her shoulder to her neck. She tasted like sweat and desire.

“Where are we?” he muttered against her, sucking her earlobe into his mouth.

“Service corridor. I had a patient here last month.”

“Someone could walk in and see us.”

He didn’t let her answer, ravaging her mouth with a possessive kiss. Sara’s hands were on his face and in his hair, pulling him as close as he could get. Unlike the kiss they’d shared before, this one was frantic, needy and more erotic than any other he’d ever had.

Her tongue explored his mouth, dueling with his, wisps of caresses sending chills through her body. He could taste the mixture of drinks and food they’d sampled and something that was uniquely Sara. His blood simmered close to a boil—making him needy.

Davin breathed in deep and shifted his attention from her mouth back to her neck.

The overwhelming desire to bite her, mark her as his hit him hard. Somehow he ignored it and licked the skin instead. Sara moaned and ran her leg up the length of his thigh. He grabbed her under her knee and held her body open to him, her dress parting at the slit to give him access. Leaning in, he pressed his erection against her hot pussy.

“I want to fuck you right now.” He nipped at her shoulder.

“Oh shit,” she whispered, her body trembling.

“You want me to fuck here right here, wild one? Take you right now?”

He pressed even harder against her, this time reaching down with his hand and cupping her breast. Her nipple was hard and he took great pleasure in rolling it between his thumb and finger.

“Might…not be compatible.” Sara sighed before biting down on her lip.

Enjoying the invitation, he slid his gloved hand from her knee, along the inside of her thigh to her pussy. Quickly pushing past her panties, he found her wet opening and pushed a finger inside. Sara gasped and her gaze locked on his.

“Feels compatible to me.”

“Davin!”

He continued to push in, feeling her cream ease the motion of his gloved finger.

When he pulled back to circle her swollen clit, her entire body tensed.

“You like that, do you?” When she didn’t respond, he pulled his hand away. “Do you?”

“Yes, please don’t stop.”

Chuckling, he brought his glove to his face and used his teeth to pull it off.

Dropping it to the floor, he returned his hand to her hot pussy.

“That’s better,” he said and dipped his finger into her cream. As his finger played deep inside her, he let his thumb stroke her clit.

“Shit, you’re killing me,” she whispered, arching her body against his hand.

“Good thing I know a doctor.”

Repeatedly he thrust his finger into her until her juices covered his hand. When he thought she could take it, he added a second finger. Sara’s body shuddered and she leaned forward resting her head on his shoulder.

“This is what I want to be doing with my cock right now. Over and over again.” He punctuated each word with the thrust of his hand.

Sara managed a whimper before he kissed her again. Her hands clung tightly to him, bunching his shirt in her fists. All rational thought fled from his mind. With his free hand, Davin tugged her neckline down, exposing her breast. He lowered his head and caught her nipple in his mouth, sucking hard. He felt her pussy clamp around his fingers and her cream flood his hand. She was so close to the edge now.

The dull music suddenly became a loud blare when the door that separated the hall from the bar opened. Davin leaned forward and shielded Sara’s half-naked body from the intruder.

“Get the fuck out,” he spat out at the pair of drunk men who now stood gawking at them.

“Holy shit!”

“That’s fucking hot.”

“Get…out…now,” Davin turned his face to glare at them.

“No problem, buddy. Relax.” The one on the left said. “Let’s go.”

“Man, I want to watch.”

“He looks like he’ll rip your head off, come on.”

And as suddenly as they’d arrived, the pair was gone. One look at Sara told him the moment was gone as well.

“You okay?” he asked, brushing a strand of her hair away.

She was panting and her eyes were wide. Carefully, she looked around him at the door.

“Do you think they saw me?”

36

“Not your face, if that’s what you mean.”

“I…” She looked back at him and grinned shyly.

“Everyone’s a bit crazy tonight. I doubt they’d remember it was you even if they did see.” When she didn’t answer, Davin placed a kiss on her forehead. “Let me get you home.”
