She looked at him for a long moment and then reached up and kissed him tenderly on the cheek. And Tom put his arm around her and they turned and walked in the sunlight across the grass and back toward the house.

Nicholas Evans studied law at Oxford University after a year in Africa teaching English with Voluntary Service Overseas. He then worked as a journalist, film producer and screenwriter, before writing four bestselling novels. His first, The Horse Whisperer, was made into a movie directed by Robert Redford.
