As he sucked at his fingers, tasting Mia, he tried not to think about his most recent travels. He hadn’t been keen on the direction of the council’s plan, though he knew the council had been making plans long before he was a grown man. In fact, his father had been an integral player, and now Ayo was expected to carry on the legacy. Before Mia, he would have probably eagerly agreed, still wild and arrogant. But something about Mia had tamed him, made him more compassionate. He felt the change from the moment he laid eyes on her. Ayo wouldn’t go as far as to say he was sympathetic to the humans, but he loved his wife, and he cared for the two family members she had here.

Ayo didn’t want to think of what Mia would say if he shared the tribe’s plans. He could just imagine her anger, her eyes lighting up passionately, as her mouth twisted into a beautiful but thin line, her hands balling into fists. Even when she was angry, she was breathtaking. Yet, Ayo wanted to confide in her. Slowly, he found himself sharing small parts of his business with her. He had discovered that she was smart, and levelheaded, and when she did offer advice or opinions, they were wise and well thought out—quite unexpected for a human so new to tribal life.

He sighed as Mia moaned again, louder this time, and he pushed his work out of his mind. Now, he wanted to focus on Mia—focus on making her come. Because, as Ayo had learned, the more pleasurable it was for Mia, the more incredible it was for him.

He reached between his legs, grabbing his thick cock, feeling how hard and ready he was for his wife. He stroked it, feeling himself lengthen just a bit more. He moved behind Mia, rubbing her wetness again, and then guided himself to her opening. Steadying himself against her creamy hips, he thrust deep inside her.

“Oh!” Mia cried out as Ayo pushed into her. She craned her neck so she could see his face. There was something beautifully uninhibited about his face as he made love to her, and she enjoyed seeing the way his eyes closed, and the creases and worry from his face melt away. Ayo’s face was always different when he returned from a stressful trip. Though Ayo had said nothing of the sort to Mia, she had noticed his face instantly, and the subtle tenseness in his muscles. It was amazing how attuned she had become to him.

Mia turned back around and let her mind empty, focusing only on the amazing fullness of Ayo. She felt herself stretch and wrap around him, and she squeezed her inner muscles, pulling him towards her.

“Mia!” Ayo gasped, stopping for a moment. Mia grinned seductively, she liked having such carnal control over Ayo at times. Ayo resumed his thrusts, reaching around her to rub her engorged clit and grab at her growing breasts. Mia responded to his touch, biting down on her lips, and rocking back and forth on her hands and legs. Mia could feel the release building within her. The further along she was in her pregnancy, the more intense and powerful her orgasms became.

“Mia,” Ayo growled, grabbing at her skin, driving into her with feral desire. Mia’s breathing was quick, the ache deep in her belly was overwhelming. Her orgasm ripped through her and she cried out, her body bucking wildly as Ayo continued to drive into her. Her inner muscles fluttered against him, out of her control, and Ayo thrust one final time, before he came too, yelling out with his pleasure as he poured himself into her. Mia loved how she could feel Ayo pulse within her. There was something incredibly erotic about her husband coming inside her, the warmth of his seed, as if she was being marked as his territory. And since Ayo was not a possessive man, Mia could revel in this claiming of her that Ayo only did in their most intimate moments together.

The weeks that followed Ayo’s trip were peaceful, and Mia found herself getting more excited for the baby’s arrival. She had visited one of the clothing makers in the region, and helped design a number of outfits for their son.

One hot morning, Femi arrived carrying a thick brown bundle. Pushing her damp hair out of her face, she looked at Femi with interest. “The baby’s clothes,” he explained.

“Oh!” she cried excitedly, hurrying to Femi and taking the package. She tore the brown paper open and was just pulling out the first small outfit, when Ayo came walking into the kitchen.

“What’s that?” he asked, moving behind Mia and nuzzling her neck.

“Baby clothes.”

“Ahh.” Ayo smiled and fingered the delicate items of clothing. They were simple and plain, some dyed with tea, and Mia was anxious to put them in the baby’s dresser.

Femi came and brought Ayo a glass of juice, and Ayo nodded as he took it from him. He cleared his throat, and looked over at Mia. “I’m going to have some of the council members over this evening. Mosi included. If you like, Femi could go over and ask if Jossalyn wants to keep you company. Obviously, you won’t be able to eat with us.”

Mia frowned, disliking how women weren’t invited to eat with their husbands while they were conducting business. “OK” she conceded, “Jossalyn can join us. She and I can eat on the back porch.” Ayo nodded, distracted, and then looked over at Femi. Femi nodded, and slipped out of the back door to go to Jossalyn’s house. “Ayo,” Mia said softly, moving towards her husband.

“Mmmm,” he said distractedly.

“Is everything alright?”

Ayo stared at Mia for a beat too long as if he were deciding on sharing information with her. “Everything is fine, sweet one.”

“Because if it wasn’t, you know that you could tell me. I would never say anything to anyone. Including Jossalyn.” Mia thought back to how Jossalyn admitted that she overheard Mosi speaking about the Dragon Lords. Could Ayo’s preoccupation have something to do with that snippet of conversation Jossalyn overheard?

Ayo gave Mia a small smile. “I know. And trust me, I would tell you if there was anything you needed to know.”

Mia wasn’t completely satisfied, but she kissed Ayo’s shoulder and went back to the nursery to put away the clothes.

As Ayo watched his wife walk away, he felt a pang of guilt for lying to her. He had used the words
trust me
. Words Ayo only used in moments of honesty, and yet he just lied to his wife. He angrily thought back to how Mosi had insisted that Ayo host a dinner for the other council members. He would have to make sure that Femi kept the women out of earshot, while still managing to serve dinner. Ayo couldn’t understand why they couldn’t meet somewhere else so as not to risk Mia, and especially Jossalyn, overhearing. Jossalyn came across as carefree and shallow, but Ayo knew better. She was sharp as could be and nothing got past her. If Ayo had to guess, he would say that Jossalyn acted superficial for the pure reason of not being discovered that she knew more than she was letting on.

Jumping up, Ayo knocked his chair back in haste, and he stalked out of the kitchen, striding out into the bright morning sunshine. The sun, which never set, was nearly at its highest point now. Ayo knew within a few minutes, sweat would begin to drip down his back. Members of the Sabre pride mostly stayed indoors from mid-morning to late afternoon when the sun was at its strongest.

He heard a thump of a dresser drawer opening, and he looked towards the open windows of the nursery. He could just make out Mia’s round shape inside the room, and he imagined her smiling as she put away the baby clothes. Ayo quickly wondered if he had enough time to sneak inside and make love to his wife before Femi came back. Not that Ayo couldn’t make love to his wife with Femi there. Ayo, was after all, master of the house and could do as he pleased. But he knew that Mia let her inhibitions down when they were alone, and Ayo loved hearing how loud she could be in the throes of passion. To Ayo’s disappointment he saw Femi’s shape hurrying down the hill from Jossalyn’s house. Sighing, he went back inside.

“Miss Mia! Miss Mia!” Mia came bustling out of the room at Femi’s excited cries. “Mr. Mosi was home when I went to see Miss Jossalyn and he had very exciting news for you.” Mia stared at Femi with bewilderment. What could Mosi possibly have to share with Mia? “Miss Melanie is in town and Mr. Mosi has arranged for you, Miss Melanie and Miss Jossalyn to have dinner at the Canopy!”

It took Mia a moment to process what Femi said, and then she let out an excited shriek. “Ayo! Did you hear? Melanie is in town!”

Ayo,
had
heard, and had a suspicion that Mosi’s news was very well thought out. He plastered a smile on his face and came around the corner. “That’s wonderful news. I know how much you miss her.” Mia smiled widely, but then her smile faltered. “What is it?”

“It’s just that—it’s all so strange. Melanie never comes to town, and even stranger that Mosi would arrange this. Especially at the Canopy. Why not just have Melanie come here with Jossalyn and I?”

The Canopy was a community structure with long walls, and a wide thatched roof. Gauzy curtains hung from all four sides, and the inside was set up to accommodate groups for dinner and recreation for special events.

“Perhaps her husband will be at the meeting tonight? And it would be hard for us to meet while you three women catch up. I’m sure you’ll be making a lot of noise, and the Canopy will allow you to be as loud and chatty as you like.”

Mia laughed. “Yes, I suppose so!” She happily raked her fingers through her hair and patted her belly. Smiling to herself, she disappeared down the hall.

As soon as she was out of sight, Ayo strode over to Femi. “I have go out. Let Mia know I had some business to attend to.”

Femi nodded, and Ayo slipped out of the house. Once he was a safe distance away, he let his emotions take over, and his body began to quiver. Seconds later, he was ripping apart until Ayo the man was gone, and a majestic tiger took his place. Snarling angrily, he raced up the hill towards Mosi’s house, his fangs bared.

CHAPTER TEN

Leila

* * * * *

Leila wasn’t sure what she had expected, but it certainly wasn’t this. “Tol'sar!” she called anxiously, dashing between couples to catch up with her husband.

Tol'sar ignored her and continued to move at a fast pace that Leila was unable to keep up with. Once Tol'sar had broken through the crowd of people, he stood at the edge of the blue sands, impatiently waiting for her. “Hurry up!”

“I’m trying! But I can’t keep up with you!” She was trying to cover her breasts and her front, but wasn’t having any luck. “And I don’t have any clothes!” she hissed.

Tol'sar let out a high laugh. “Clothes are unimportant. I’ve put my seed in you, and now we must return to my home.” He paused, running a finger along the outline of her sex. “I must say that your body was exceedingly delicious. I’m anxious to get you home…” he trailed off and Leila had no problem following the meaning behind his words. “Let’s go!” he said, yanking her by her arm. Suddenly, out of the blue sands rose a large blue rock. Tol'sar seemed unalarmed and he pulled Leila forward and forced her hand onto the rock. The rock was hard and rough, much like Tol'sar himself.

Once Leila was touching the rock, Tol'sar placed his large hand on top of her’s and then everything went dark. It felt as if a hook had been placed in Leila’s stomach and she was being tugged through the black air. Leila’s lungs felt like they were being crushed. She wanted to cry out with pain, but was unable to make a sound. Then, just as suddenly as the feeling came, it was gone. Leila lost her footing and tumbled to the ground, feeling damp earth beneath her.

When she opened her eyes, the blackness was gone. She found herself looking at the greenest grass she had ever seen. Slowly, she lifted her gaze and she gasped at the beauty before her. She was worlds away from North Point. Just beyond the luscious green grass was a flowing river, its waters a bright blue like sands of The Breeding Lands. It wasn’t the normal color of water, and Leila found herself drawn to it. Her eyes traveled across the bank. Beautiful, vibrant trees lined the riverbed, their leaves brilliant shades of red, orange, blue and yellow. The backdrop behind the trees was the famous Western Mountains, and Leila craned her neck to look up at the dark peaks.

“This way,” Tol'sar ordered, and Leila snapped out of her trance. Taking one last look at the water, she followed Tol'sar along a path. The trail wove in and out of more brightly colored trees, and then came back to the river where a beautiful, ornate bridge was built for passage. Tol'sar crossed the bridge, and Leila scurried behind him. She was so busy taking in her beautiful surroundings, that she momentarily forgot her fear of Tol'sar. As they moved closer to the mountains, Leila could see dozens of homes nestled into the protective sides of the mountain.
