la is one of the eight deities known as the Terrible Divinities, also venerated by the Mongols as ‘protector of the tent’ (
gur-gyi-mgnon-po
). In the Buddhist pantheon Mah
k
la is reduced to being a doorkeeper of Buddha's temple.
