. He was one of the founders (1839) of the Cambridge Camden Society, which stimulated interest in church architecture and Catholic worship, thus contributing to the
Ritualist
movement in the Church of England. Besides his own hymns he also produced fine translations from the Latin (e.g. ‘Jerusalem the golden’).
