238–314) to Christianity, which was forthwith imposed as the official religion of the country. He was later consecrated the first bishop, and the episcopate remained for some generations in his family. The

rama, a man establishes a household, raises a family, and pursues worldly goals such as acquisition of wealth. At age 50 the householder is to retire to the forest.
