Was it the real Mother or was it her demon playing games?’

Was the question that formed in Iliana’s mind.

"What is going on?... What is wrong with me?..." Mother asked in a shaky voice,
raising her trembling hands out in front of her and staring into them.

"M-Mother?... Is that really you?" Iliana questioned still unsure whether to step
forward.

Mother fell to her knees tears rolled down her face.

"What is going on with me?... There is something inside of me making me do
things... things I..." Mother wailed.

As Iliana rushed to her Mother started to shake her head violently side to side and
when she stopped a different voice spoke out loud making Iliana stop in her tracks and
Yuki whimper.

"Get out of my way... weakling!"

"No!... Please!.... Stop this!"

Iliana watched as Mother argued to herself with her voice changing from a deep and
gravely pitch, to a mewling and scared tone.

"M-Mother?" Iliana mumbled her eyes open wide and her heart racing.

Mother instantly looked at Iliana, her eyes were slightly red from the crying. She stretched
her arms out to Iliana.

"Help me!... Iliana!... Please... help me!" Mother pleaded. "I am so sorry."

Iliana quickly dropped to her knees in front of Mother and held her hand. But almost
instantly felt a burning sensation and had to let go quickly. Mother started to laugh out
hysterically.

"She cannot help you because she is born to kill a demon like you and I!..."
Bellowed a voice.

"No!... Mother!... I will not kill you!... I will get you back!... I promise!" Iliana
shouted as the real Mother’s face changed back, but looked at Iliana utterly frightened.

But Mother shook her head and her eyes turned completely black, she looked up at Iliana.
A twisted smile stretched across her face and Iliana knew who was in control of the body
now.

"Your poor little weak Mother is far from saving... Purifier!... She had already
willingly given in to her own demon, and she sacrificed her body to me... She even agreed
to give up her own daughter for my Master!... He is most pleased with her!" The demon
snarled. "So now... it is time for you to follow in your Mother’s footsteps."

The demon pushed Iliana back with so much force Iliana flew back and crashed
landed on the floor further down the hallway. Passing Yuki the demon ran towards Iliana
who tried to get up, but Yuki grabbed it’s ankle by her teeth from behind and started to
gnaw it. The demon screamed out in pain as the blood dripped down it’s ankle. The skin
was ripped out and the bone could almost be seen.

"Yuki!... No!..." Iliana yelled.

Even though the demon was now in control the body is still Mother’s and she would feel
the pain too. But the demon grabbed Yuki by her neck, loosening her grip round the ankle
and then threw her into the lounge. Iliana heard a yelp and a loud thud and then silence.

"YUKI!..."

With rage burning up inside her Iliana got up to her feet. She felt the presence of
water in a flower vase that stood on a table in the study room to her left. With her eyes
fixed on the demon Iliana forced the water out causing the glass vase to shatter. And in a
split second the jet of water wrapped itself round Iliana’s fist and lower arm. The demon
stared at Iliana with a smirk.

"You cannot use your powers against me!... Not without hurting this body!" It
hissed.

"You want to bet!" Iliana said confidently knowing the demon was right but was
calling it’s bluff.

The demon growled and was about to launch itself forwards to Iliana who was ready to
defend herself but the demon suddenly stopped. Instead it turned round and headed for the
front door, then after picking up the phone and the envelopes from the floor, disappeared
out the door.

Even though she was slightly confused of what just happened, Iliana ran into the entrance
of the lounge expecting to find Yuki to be badly injured. However she was already standing
up on her feet and trotted towards Iliana with her mouth stained with blood. It looked like
she was just thrown onto the floor as nothing else on the room was damaged. Sighing with
relief and bending down to her Iliana wrapped one arm round Yuki and hugged her. But
when she suddenly heard a car start Iliana rushed to the front door.

The black Jaguar car drove at high speed down the driveway towards the open gate,
it swerved hard right almost skidding then vanished. Iliana knew exactly where the demon
was heading. She looked down at her hands, the jet of water was still circling around her
hand and lower arm. Iliana released the water with a wave of her other hand and the water
dropped onto the concrete ground.

Knowing that her powers was still not to the highest of her capability, Iliana knew
she had no choice but to go after the demon and get her Mother back. Iliana quickly wiped
the blood off from the floor, cleared away the broken glass and removed any evidence of
the incident. Iliana did not want Father to return home and see anything out of the ordinary.
She scrubbed Yuki’s mouth with a damp cloth, there was still a slight residue of blood due
to the colour of Yuki’s fur but it sufficed.

After stuffing her phone and the house keys into her skinny black jeans pocket and
then locking the house and the front gates, Iliana started her walk to Lord Baddesley’s
mansion with Yuki trotting next to her. It was still light outside with patches of grey clouds
that drifted above her. The fresh breeze brushed through Iliana’s long hair making it fly
behind her like a black veil. In another hour or two the sun would start to set and that was
the time when Iliana loved to walk Yuki down the Beach Cove, and then just sit and watch
the sun set over the sea water. But instead she was walking at a brisk pace in the opposite
direction with Father’s voice echoing in her head.

‘Do not turn your back on her... this is the time when she needs you the most... do
not lose faith in her.’

‘Do not worry Father... I will not lose faith. I will get her back... I promise...’
Iliana
muttered to herself as she turned a corner.

Iliana did not get very far when a red Mini Cooper driving the opposite way flashed
it’s lights at her. And Jung stuck his head out of the open window waving at her
hysterically. Iliana then remembered that Jung was supposed to meet her at the house with
his girlfriend Caitlyn.

"Hey... Iliana!... Where are you going?" Jung asked as Iliana and Yuki crossed the
road to where he parked on one side.

Iliana hurriedly tried to come up with an excuse to get away, but she could not think of one.
Her thoughts however were sidetracked when she saw a beautiful young lady sitting in the
front passenger’s seat. She looked in her early twenties and had golden blonde hair that sat
on her shoulders with big loose curls at the ends. Her fringe was side parted revealing her
big sparkly light blue eyes. She smiled at Iliana as she stood by her side of the door
showing off her perfectly straight white teeth.

"Whoa!..." Iliana gasped in awe of her beauty.

"Iliana... this is my Caitlyn. Caitlyn... this is Iliana." Jung introduced leaning forward
over Caitlyn.

"Hello... it is my pleasure to finally meet you!" Caitlyn said in a strong Welsh
accent.

"Likewise!" Iliana said smiling then thought to herself with a tang of envious.

‘Looks wise... she is more suited to Kazuki than to Jung.’

"My little Korean bear has told me a lot about you." Caitlyn added still smiling.

"Oh... n-nice things I hope." Iliana replied back trying to act normal as she now
remembered that she reall
y
needed to get to Mother.

"Of course... I started to get jealous."

"You did not... did you... my little Welsh angel?" Jung cooed tapping a finger on
Caitlyn’s nose.

Iliana raised an eyebrow as the two of them giggled at each other. The atmosphere they
created with their cutesy and sugary giggles and comments made Iliana feel a little
nauseated, even Yuki groaned. Iliana had always thought of Jung being the happy-go-lucky
type of guy behind that police badge, although Iliana had not seen him this happy and
gooey before.

‘Caitlyn’s and Jung’s personalities do however very much suite each other.’
Iliana
thought as she tried to slowly edge herself away from the car door.

"E-er... I am really sorry but I have to go... I will catch up with you later." Iliana said
hurriedly hoping to dash away quickly before either of them could say anything.

But the back passenger door suddenly swung open making Iliana walk into it. Kazuki got
out the car sliding his Aviator sunglasses on top of his head before resting his arms on top
of the car door. Iliana’s stomach and heart did the somersault in unison, she had forgotten
Jung was giving Kazuki a lift home from school.

"What is wrong?" Kazuki asked seriously.

"N-nothing!" Iliana replied quickly looking everywhere but his piercing eyes.

Kazuki suddenly and quite quickly closed the car door ajar so there was no barrier between
them and then stood up close to her causing Iliana to look directly up at him... startled.

"What is wrong?" He asked again in the same tone.

Her eyes fixed on his, Iliana was unable to come up with a quick excuse and just sighed.
Knowing he would probably not believe her if she tried to lie as Iliana was the worst for
lying, especially when being face to face.

"My Mother is possessed by her own demon and another... a much stronger one!"
Iliana bluntly answered.

Kazuki stepped back as Iliana carried on explaining.

"For a moment my real Mother fought against them but they were both too strong
and they ended up taking full control of her, she then drove away. I think I know where she
is heading and I need to get there as soon as possible. I think what Father Benjamin was
talking to us about Lord Baddesley yesterday might
actually be happening... I want to save
my Mother."

"And you were going alone?" Kazuki asked quite calmly as if what he just heard did
not bother him.

"W-well... I have Yuki!" Iliana replied looking down at Yuki who barked at the
sound of her name.

"When it comes to possessions no-one ever goes alone... with just
their dog!"
Kazuki said opening the car door widely. "Get in!"

"B-but I..."

"Get in!" Kazuki ordered again.

Iliana instantly obeyed and got into the car, Kazuki followed after Yuki who jumped in
excitedly and sat in the middle.

"What is going on?" Jung asked utterly confused.

"Just drive to Lord Baddesley’s mansion... we will explain on the way." Kazuki
replied slamming the door shut.

*** Chapter 7 ***

"I have tried to call him three times now, he is still not picking up!" Caitlyn said
loudly holding her mobile in one hand and clinging on the hand grip of the car door for
dear life with the other.

Jung swerved hard round into the road that led to Lord Baddesley’s private land where his
mansion stood. Everybody inside the car was nearly thrown to one side, Iliana had to grab
hold of Yuki to prevent her from flying out through the glass window. Luckily everyone
else wore seatbelts.

"I know I said we needed to get to Lord Baddesley’s mansion fast, but it would be
nice if we got there alive!" Kazuki sarcastically remarked.

All of Jung’s concentration was on the long straight road ahead so Kazuki’s comment fell
on deaf ears. The speedometer nearly reached the ninety mark before he slammed his foot
on his brakes causing the car to almost tip forward before it halted a few metres away from
the gates of the mansion.

"That was fun, don’t you think?" Jung said happily turning round to everyone.
