I should have left Tristan immobile.
Apparently the second I let everyone loose they were all tripping over themselves to get him. In all the chaos he managed to slip out of the compound before anyone realized he'd gone.
Fourteen people and not one noticed.
I personally think something else happened that let him get away, but it could just be my own sense of paranoia. In any case Cillian, Dark, and Alexander all agreed, because of this and the fact that every fae creature that had been in slumber for the last 500 years had decided to awaken, Ryan and I should be taken to the Fae King.
A man everyone kept calling ‘The Fae King’ like it was his actual name.
They all seem to think that he’ll have the answers as to why I was causing this strange reaction in the human world. For my sake I hope he does, though I have a feeling it’s not going to be so simple as that.
If the reactions around me when they speak of him are anything to go by this is going to be as difficult as it gets. Or maybe I’ll get lucky and he really will have all the answers. Either way I wasn’t exactly getting warm fuzzy feelings about this meeting.
I happened to mention that I read an old world book about The Fae King and was promptly told that almost none of it was truth except the fact the he did have a hand in the creation of the unseelie. There were also a few other things, but I honestly don't think I’ll be repeating it since made me want to wash my own ears out.
I’d asked if Alexander could come along for the journey, but apparently humans aren’t allowed in the land of the Fae. He wished us luck and said he had a lot of work ahead of him trying to track down Tristan anyway. That I shouldn’t worry about him. I needed to put my best foot forward and keep Ryan in line as much as I could.
So that was what I was going to do. I put one foot in front of the other and headed into the unknown with a group of Fae Warriors leading the way, and Who knows? Maybe it won’t be as bad as I think. Even if it is I have to have faith that I’ll make it through all the better for the experience.
After all, they say it’s always Darkest before the light.
