“Make a wish, Tricia,” thought the Monarch Raven. Tricia parked in the middle of the driveway. She walked to the back of the car which revealed her license plate, “TRICIA.” She picked up a few items from her trunk and schlepped into the house. Tricia interrupted Peyton’s constant giggling with, “What a creep!” She punctuated the comment with a few cracks of her gum.

Peyton warned, “Be nice, sister.”

Banks nodded, “That it very important advice, Tricia. I would listen if I were you.”

Tricia cracked gum as her eyebrows lifted and her lip curled, “Whatever.”

Stan and Julie entered and it was time for Banks to have a word with them about his moving out.

The following week marked the beginning of Juneau’s restoration. The Monarch Raven wanted to take a look at how things were proceeding. The Monarch Raven flew to the area of the restoration of the Juneau-Douglas Bridge. As the raven soared, it eyed Johnny Angelo working on a rig for the bridge’s restoration. A few days earlier, Johnny was at the grocery store and saw Tricia sashaying in his direction. While cracking gum, Tricia said, “All is forgiven.” Johnny bee lined for the door without uttering a word, but his look of horror should have conveyed a message to Tricia. It didn’t.

The raven plunged near the cruise ships. It saw Marilyn White Owl pass out information that she would take tourists to hunt for dead creatures. Carol was nearby barking to the tourists. Marilyn’s small halibut boat accommodated about six tourists at a time. But at one hundred dollars per seat, she was doing quite well. She and Carol donated most of the money back to less fortunate tribe members. The Monarch Raven swooped down to look closer at the matching rings that were on Marilyn and Carol’s left forefingers.

The Monarch Raven heard the sound of Banks’ car in the distance. It soared over the town to find the sedan heading up to Skyline Boulevard. As Banks parked the car in the Powers’ driveway, he honked the horn. Ann ran out from of her house waving. She opened both the front door and the back door as Peyton exited his house with Plato his new guide dog. Ann maneuvered Peyton and Plato in the backseat and waved to Julie who was at the front door. The car drove off to the wilderness as Banks’ animal guardian followed above.

When they reached a secluded spot, Banks and Ann got out. Above the car, dove the Monarch Raven to watch and hopefully quench his insatiable curiosity. A moment later the Monarch Raven flew over the car as Peyton drove and next to him Plato watched on. From the back seat of the moving car came directions commanded by Banks and Ann in unison, “To the left, to the right, right again, slow down, Peyton.” Peyton giggled uncontrollably. He was in a state of exhilaration as he exercised his part of the Indian bargain.

As Banks drove the others back to Skyline Boulevard, the Monarch Raven settled in on top of the Powers’ household. As the raven watched Peyton and Plato exit the back seats, its attention turned to a white bird above. The white bird circled and landed next to the Monarch Raven. It was the last Chatham white raven left in the world. It stared at the Monarch Raven and cooed.
