Romans 15:23–16:9

23
 But now having no more place in these parts, and having a great desire these many years to come unto you;
24
whensoever I [Paul] take my journey into Spain, I will come to you: for I trust to see you in my journey, and to be brought on my way thitherward by you, if first I be somewhat filled with your
company.

25
But now I go unto Jerusalem to minister unto the saints.
26
For it hath pleased them of Macedonia and Achaia to make a certain contribution for the poor saints which are at Jerusalem.
27
It hath pleased them verily; and their debtors they are. For if the Gentiles have been made partakers of their spiritual things, their duty is also to minister unto them in carnal things.
28
When therefore I have performed this, and have sealed to them this fruit, I will come by you into Spain.
29
And I am sure that, when I come unto you, I shall come in the fulness of the blessing of the gospel of Christ.

30
Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ's sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in
your
prayers to God for me;
31
that I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which
I have
for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;
32
that I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.
33
 Now the God of peace
be
with you all. Amen.

16:
1
I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:
2
that ye receive her in the Lord, as becometh saints, and that ye assist her in whatsoever business she hath need of you: for she hath been a succourer of many, and of myself also.

3
Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus:
4
who have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles.
5
 Likewise
greet
the church that is in their house.

Salute my wellbeloved Epaenetus, who is the firstfruits of Achaia unto Christ.
6
Greet Mary, who bestowed much labour on us.
7
Salute Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen, and my fellowprisoners, who are of note among the apostles, who also were in Christ before me.
8
Greet Amplias my beloved in the Lord.
9
Salute Urbane, our helper in Christ, and Stachys my beloved.

Psalm 25:16-22

16
Turn thee unto me, and have mercy upon me; for I
am
desolate and afflicted.

17
The troubles of my heart are enlarged:
O
bring thou me out of my distresses.

18
Look upon mine affliction and my pain; and forgive all my sins.

19
Consider mine enemies; for they are many; and they hate me with cruel hatred.

20
O keep my soul, and deliver me: let me not be ashamed; for I put my trust in thee.

21
Let integrity and uprightness preserve me; for I wait on thee.

22
Redeem Israel, O God, out of all his troubles.

Proverbs 20:16-18

16
Take his garment that is surety
for
a stranger: and take a pledge of him for a strange woman.

17
 Bread of deceit
is
sweet to a man; but afterwards his mouth shall be filled with gravel.

18

Every
purpose is established by counsel: and with good advice make war.

2 Chronicles 33:14–34:33

14
Now after this he built a wall without the city of David, on the west side of Gihon, in the valley, even to the entering in at the fish gate, and compassed about Ophel, and raised it up a very great height, and put captains of war in all the fenced cities of Judah.
15
And he took away the strange gods, and the idol out of the house of the L
ORD
, and all the altars that he had built in the mount of the house of the L
ORD
, and in Jerusalem, and cast
them
out of the city.
16
And he repaired the altar of the L
ORD
, and sacrificed thereon peace offerings and thank offerings, and commanded Judah to serve the L
ORD
God of Israel.
17
Nevertheless the people did sacrifice still in the high places,
yet
unto the L
ORD
their God only.

18
Now the rest of the acts of Manasseh, and his prayer unto his God, and the words of the seers that spake to him in the name of the L
ORD
God of Israel, behold, they
are written
in the book of the kings of Israel.
19
 His prayer also, and
how God
was intreated of him, and all his sins, and his trespass, and the places wherein he built high places, and set up groves and graven images, before he was humbled: behold, they
are
written among the sayings of the seers.
20
So Manasseh slept with his fathers, and they buried him in his own house: and Amon his son reigned in his stead.

21
 Amon
was
two and twenty years old when he began to reign, and reigned two years in Jerusalem.
22
 But he did
that which was
evil in the sight of the L
ORD
, as did Manasseh his father: for Amon sacrificed unto all the carved images which Manasseh his father had made, and served them;
23
and humbled not himself before the L
ORD
, as Manasseh his father had humbled himself; but Amon trespassed more and more.

24
And his servants conspired against him, and slew him in his own house.
25
But the people of the land slew all them that had conspired against king Amon; and the people of the land made Josiah his son king in his stead.

34:
1
 Josiah
was
eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
2
 And he did
that which was
right in the sight of the L
ORD
, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined
neither
to the right hand, nor to the left.

3
For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
4
And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that
were
on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust
of them,
and strowed
it
upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.
5
And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.
6
 And
so did he
in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.
7
And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.

8
Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the L
ORD
his God.
9
And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.
10
 And they put
it
in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the L
ORD
, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the L
ORD
, to repair and amend the house:
11
even to the artificers and builders gave they
it,
to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
12
And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them
were
Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set
it
forward; and
other of
the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of musick.
13
 Also
they were
over the bearers of burdens, and
were
overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites
there were
scribes, and officers, and porters.

14
And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the L
ORD
, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the L
ORD
given
by Moses.
15
And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the L
ORD
. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.

16
And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do
it.
17
And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the L
ORD
, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
18
Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.

19
And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.
20
And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king's, saying,
21
 Go, inquire of the L
ORD
for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great
is
the wrath of the L
ORD
that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the L
ORD
, to do after all that is written in this book.

22
 And Hilkiah, and
they
that the king
had appointed,
went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spake to her to that
effect.

23
And she answered them, Thus saith the L
ORD
God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,
24
 Thus saith the L
ORD
, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof,
even
all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
25
because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.
26
And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to inquire of the L
ORD
, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the L
ORD
God of Israel
concerning
the words which thou hast heard;
27
because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard
thee
also, saith the L
ORD
.
28
Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.

29
Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
30
And the king went up into the house of the L
ORD
, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the L
ORD
.
31
And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the L
ORD
, to walk after the L
ORD
, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.
32
And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand
to it.
And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
33
And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that
pertained
to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve,
even
to serve the L
ORD
their God.
And
all his days they departed not from following the L
ORD
, the God of their fathers.
