, I pray You would help my husband and me to always be on the same page and speak the same language. When there are times we are not communicating well—where we seem to be missing each other’s intentions, or we too often misunderstand each other’s words—I pray Your perfect wisdom and knowledge would prevail between us. By the power of Your Spirit, I pray You would enable us to always have a clear understanding of each other and whatever situation we are in. Help us to resist the enemy—the author of confusion, lies, and deceit—and refuse to give place to any of his plans for our relationship as husband and wife. I pray that only You, Lord, will reign in our marriage, and that only Your Spirit of love and peace will rule between us.

You have said in Your Word that there isn’t anything people cannot do when they are in unity (Genesis 11:6). I pray our unity means there is nothing we cannot do to make our marriage strong, and there is nothing the enemy can do to come between us. Enable us to pray together in unity so that we will see powerful answers to prayer, and that nothing of Your goodness and blessing will be withheld from our lives.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

When I Need to Trust God in the Situation

Watch, stand fast in the faith,
be brave, be strong.
Let all that you do be done with love.

HEN SOMETHING SERIOUS HAPPENS
in your marriage or your circumstances, you may worry and even become distraught with concern. Left uncontrolled, these concerns eat at you and your marriage relationship, and can destroy what you have built together. You must pray about them, of course, and preferably together, if your husband is willing. However, too often a man may be resistant to praying with his wife, either out of hard-heartedness or lack of belief in the power of God to answer prayer. But whether he prays with you or not, you still must give all your concerns to God.

When a grave situation occurs in your marriage, or something troubling happens to you or around you, and you don’t see how it can ever be resolved, acknowledge before God that although you don’t have the answers, you know
He
does. Tell Him how you feel and what you want Him to do. Ask Him to help you get to the point where you totally trust Him, knowing that even when you see no way out and no good solution,
He
can. You may feel hopeless about it, but in Him there is always hope. Ask Him to give you peace in the midst of this trial. Tell Him you look to Him and not the situation to determine your reaction to what has happened. Choose to trust the Lord’s love and faithfulness toward you. Ask Him to do the impossible. He can and will.

, I bring to You this seemingly impossible situation my husband and I are in. First of all, I want to confess any doubt in my heart that this will end well. I see no good way out without a miracle from You, but I don’t want to carry negative thinking around with me, and so I release all doubt and fear into Your hands. I refuse to harbor unforgiveness toward my husband or anyone else whom I think may be responsible for this problem. I confess any unforgiveness I have before You, and I ask You to set me free of it. Help me to trust You to make this right.

Where either my husband or I have done something that has caused this, help us to learn from our mistakes. If we are in this dire situation due to no fault of our own, enable us to navigate these rough waters so that, although we may seem to be shipwrecked right now, we won’t capsize and sink. Keep us from blaming each other and help us to look to You for a miracle rescue. Make us both strong in You as we face the future together.

Lord, I need Your peace, power, and love to reign in me. Increase my faith to trust You above all I see or feel. Help me to be watchful in prayer, and to stand fast in faith just as You have said to do in Your Word. Enable me to face these circumstances with courage and not defeat. I pray that everything I do and say, and the thoughts I think, will be motivated by Your love in my heart. I choose this day to trust You in the situation, asking that You would work a miracle of redemption in it.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

When He Must Make the Right Decision

I will bless the Lord who has given me counsel;
my heart also instructs me in the night seasons.
I have set the Lord always before me;
because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.

O MUCH OF THE QUALITY
of your life as a wife depends on your husband making the right decisions. The consequences of his wrong decisions can greatly affect you and your children for a long time. But then, you are probably quite certain of that already.

The Bible says, “Every way of a man is right in his own eyes” (Proverbs 21:2). That means often something may seem like a good idea at the time, but it really isn’t. That’s why we must ask God about every decision we make. You may have worked hard all your life and saved and spent wisely, but if your husband is careless and makes a terrible business or financial decision, you can see all you have worked for go down the drain. That’s why you must ask God to help not only
you,
but also your
husband
to make right decisions.

Any decision he makes—such as what job he takes, where to live, whom he spends time with, what he does for recreation, how he spends money, or how much time he spends with his family—will greatly affect your lives together. Hopefully, your husband will pray with you about any decisions he makes, but not all men are willing to do that. Many a man feels he should be able to make those decisions himself without any input from his wife or anyone else. I hope that is not your situation, but if it is, you can still ask God to keep him from making any mistakes. When your husband has a big decision to make, ask God to help him do the right thing. Of course, some men are so strong willed that they refuse to listen to the Holy Spirit speaking to their heart. But at least you prayed, and that leaves him in God’s hands.
