“You sure this needs to happen?”

“We’re working for Zeke now. You want a fucker who wants to get his dick wet more than take care of shit? He had a job. He failed and look what had happened. Zeke was in control today because of Deanna.”

“You love her.”

“If that was Amy what would you be doing?” Demon asked.

Joker’s jaw tensed.

Demon watched as he pulled his gun out of the back of his pocket. “Here, use this.”

He took the gun Joker gave him. Entering the barn, he saw that Steel and Shakes were guarding the prospect.

“Shit, Demon, I’m so fucking sorry.”

The prospect, Ben, he believed his name was, walked toward him. Demon kicked out, slamming his boot against the guy’s middle. Ben went down, gripping his stomach.

“I’m sorry.”

“You had one fucking job and that was to stand at your bastard post.” He gripped the back of Ben’s head, pulling him close. “Instead you were more interested in having your dick in some whore.” He pushed him away.

“I know. I’m sorry.”

His three men stood by the door, stopping anyone from entering or leaving. No one fucked up as a prospect. There were rules for a reason. Ben had fucked those rules up.

Ben was sniffling, crying out.

There was no remorse inside Demon. All he saw when he looked at the fucker was Deanna strapped to that chair with a gun pointed at her head.

“They took my woman.”

“I’m sorry.”

“There was no excuse.” Removing the safety from the gun, Demon stepped closer, pressed the tip of the gun to Ben’s temple. “There’s no room for mistakes in Soldiers of Wrath.” He fired the gun and Ben sank to the floor.

Demon put the safety back on, handing the gun to Joker. “Let the others come and see. It’s a warning. You do the job you were supposed to or you end up dead.”

He passed his men, leaving the barn.

Deanna stared at
the door waiting for Demon to return. She wasn’t an idiot. The prospect who was on duty wasn’t going to have a good time of it. She knew she should feel bad for him but she couldn’t. If he’d been there she wouldn’t have been taken.

Pushing some damp hair out of the way, she kept her gaze on the door. She didn’t care what Demon was doing. She wanted him back so that he could hold her. The cold was seeping into her bones and the only person she wanted was him.

Time passed, she didn’t know how much, but when he opened the door, relief swamped her.

“I thought you’d be asleep,” he said, closing and locking the door.

She watched him remove his clothes before sliding under the covers. He gathered her up into his arms and she rested her head on his chest. Breathing out a sigh, she wrapped her arms around him. “I couldn’t sleep but now I can.”

“Why?”

“You’re here and I don’t want to be anywhere else but in your arms.”

She traced a pattern on his stomach. The silence stretched out between them. “You killed him, didn’t you?”

“He put you in danger.”

“There’s no room for mistakes?”

“Not this big. Screwing up a drink order, sure, but one of our women being taken, no. It was too big and with Zeke in our lives now, I’m not going to risk that shit. He had to go.” He ran his fingers over her back. “You’re not running away scared.”

“He wasn’t the one who had a gun held to his temple with a blindfold on. Why did he leave his post?” she asked.

“To fuck a sweet butt who’s getting a bit of a reputation.”

She snorted. “Great, I was taken because someone wanted to get their dick sucked.”

Demon took hold of her chin, forcing her to look back. “I took care of it. That shit is not going to happen again. You’re protected here.”

Guilt hit her hard. A man had just died because of her. Tears filled her eyes. “I’m a horrible person.”

“Hey, no you’re not.”

“Yes, I am. My dad, that prospect, they’re all dead because of me.”

“No, they’re all dead because they fucked up. This has nothing to do with you, baby. They’re the ones that screwed up, not you.”

He held her tighter, stroking her back.

His soothing touch helped to calm her down.

“What happens now?” she asked after some time had passed. She couldn’t think about anything else. Her thoughts were all over the place; nothing made any sense to her anymore.

“We wait for Zeke to call. I handle the club as best I can, and you service my dick.”

She laughed. “You’re so romantic.”

“Wait until you have my ring on your finger. You’ll see how romantic I can be then. I’ve got a right treat for you.” He reached down, gripping her ass. “God, I love you.”

“You sound surprised.”

“I am. I promised myself I’d never love a woman.”

She stared up at him. “I’m glad you broke that promise for me. I love you too.” She stroked his chest, thinking about how they met. “If it hadn’t been for my dad I wouldn’t be here now.”

“Then I guess the fuckhead did something right.”

He lifted her up in his arms, kissing any protest from her lips. This was what was right in her life, and nothing else mattered.

One month later

J
oker sat at
the table and stared across the smooth glossy wood at Zeke. They had been working for this lowlife motherfucker for the last month as muscle. They hadn’t dealt with a lot of shit, because whenever someone looked at them they seemed to back the hell off. It was good for them, but for Joker he wanted an outlet for his rage.

“You said if we helped you’d also tell me where to find the bastard that hurt Amy.” He clenched his hands on his thighs and stared at Zeke. The asshole looked smug sitting behind his expensive desk, surrounded by his extravagant décor and furniture, and having armed bodyguards watching his every move.

“Yeah, I told you I’d deliver the fucker that went after his daughter.” Zeke tapped his fingers on the table. “I may kill people, but I find child molesters the lowest of the low. In fact, I’ve castrated a few that I’ve caught in the act in my clubs, because I don’t play with that shit, and don’t allow it around me.”

Well, good for you, asshole.

Zeke smiled like this smug fucking bastard. His dark hair was slicked back, his forehead prominent, and his fucking face made Joker want to hit something over and over again. “Well then, you can see why I’d want to handle this my own way, seeing as I am personally involved.” Joker’s nails dug into his palm, and he felt his skin slice open from the force of his actions.

“I did promise to hand the motherfucker over to you, and you and your boys have been doing a very fine job of keeping shit in line.” Zeke opened a drawer on his desk and pulled out a manila envelope. He slid it over the glossy wood tabletop, and Joker grabbed it. Inside were images of Amy’s father, locations where he had been the last five years, daily routines, and even where he currently lived. Joker gripped the paper tightly in his hand, stood, and stared at Zeke. They didn’t say anything to each other, and then Joker turned and left.

He headed down the steps, away from Zeke’s office overlooking the downtown nightclub, and pushed his way through the throng of college students all but fucking on the dance floor.

“Hey, watch it, fucker,” some bleach blond asshole said, and when he turned around his eyes grew big and his mouth opened in a silent “O” at the sight of Joker. “Yeah, ugh,” he held his hands up, but Joker had already snapped. All he could see in his head was Amy and her father, that motherfucker hurting her, making her do things she didn’t want to, and the fact he fucking loved that girl with everything inside of him.

Joker slammed his fist into the punk’s face, and when he went down Joker kicked him hard enough he slid across the floor. People scattered back, the music still pumped loud in the room, and the scent of beer, sweat and sex filled joker’s head. He had to get the fuck out of here, kill something, fuck something up, or just get high enough he couldn’t even walk. All he knew was that if he didn’t calm down he’d find this bastard, hunt down Amy’s father before he was to follow through, and take him out faster than he wanted. Joker wanted this shit done slow, agonizingly slow, because he’d make the fucker pay for everything he ever did to Amy.

Two months later

“Come here, baby,”
Demon said, pulling Deanna onto his lap. They were having a picnic several miles from the clubhouse and the only thing that surrounded them was fields and woods. She loved this section of land. The whole of the Soldiers of Wrath MC owned the land surrounding the club, acres and acres of it. She heard some of them were planning on building other houses or even a couple of businesses. Deanna loved being part of the club but what she loved more was wearing Demon’s cut. This was his brand, a sign of his ownership.

The other sign of his ownership was the ring that decorated her left wedding finger. They’d gotten married a month ago, with Joker giving her away to Demon. The whole club had been present and she’d loved every second of it.

Reaching up, she cupped his cheek to smile into his face.

“I love you, Demon.”

“I love you too, baby.” He cupped the back of her head, claiming her lips in a searing kiss. This was a side to Demon that she loved to see. Everyone else got to see the boss, the hard-assed biker who didn’t let any shit stand. When they were alone she got to see the tender, loving side to him. She put up with all of his shit just to be with him like this.

“I want to stay here forever.”

“You know we can’t.” He ran his fingers down her body to stroke over her breasts. She moaned as his fingers circled the bud of her nipples.

“You’re heading out to help Joker?” She’d heard him talking with the other men. They were going hunting for some man that hurt a girl named Amy.

“Yes. This is part of the club business.”

“I’ll miss you.”

“I’ll call you every day, baby. There won’t be any other woman for me. You know the only pussy I want is yours.”

Heat filled her cheeks. This was the kind of man Demon was. She’d accepted it long ago.

“I know.” She wasn’t worried about him being with another woman. Deanna trusted Demon. “I’m worried about what will happen if things go wrong.”

She looked down at their locked hands. The love that had bloomed between them had taken her breath away. There were times she couldn’t believe how lucky she’d become. If her father hadn’t owed them money then she wouldn’t be sitting across Demon’s lap right now.

They were stronger than ever before, solid in their relationship. The club life was not always going to be smooth and she accepted that. Demon was a bastard to the core but he was her bastard and there wasn’t anything she wanted more than to be owned by him.

“Nothing is going to happen. I’ll be back before you know it.”

Before she could say anything else, he took her to the floor, opening her legs, and sliding between them. “Now, let me give you something to remember me by when I’m gone.”
