The
anger churned higher and higher inside him and he struggled to contain himself
to not grab her and rip the tight bun from her head and the color lenses
covering her lying eyes.  His cell phone rang and his mouth tightened again
when he read Michael’s name on the screen. He excused himself and left to take
the call in the outer office.

“Michael.”

“Mace
… how are you?” He asked hesitantly, recognizing the controlled anger in his
voice.  The silence stretched and Michael frowned.

“Have
you spoken to Bee this morning?”

“Why?”

“She
was going to talk to you first thing this morning.”

“Are
we talking about Brooklyn your sister, or Zita, my assistant?”

“You
… know?”

“Yes
I know.”

“Is
she … have you … damn it, Mace, is she okay?”

“For
now, yes.”

“What
do you mean?  What did she say?”

“Nothing.”

“I
don’t understand?  If she did not say anything, how did you find out?”

“Her
profile … I recognized her profile.  What I need to understand is why you aided
her in the deceit?”

“I
didn’t know at first and told her to tell you when she told me on the Sunday you
left for Australia.  I made it clear to her I will not lie if you asked me and
I warned her last night I will be telling you if she did not do it herself this
morning.”

Mason
did not even try to get his anger under control; rather he kept feeding it higher
until it bordered on rage inside him.  He opened himself to her and she
blatantly lied to him. That was something that ripped as his heart like the
sharpened claws of a tiger.

“Mace
… what are you going to do?”

“I
think it is better for you not to know.  Don’t expect to hear from her for a
while.  If she thought I would accept a lousy apology for this, there is a
surprise in store for her.”

“Mace,
I understand you are angry, but she is my sister and …”

“Who
is nearly twenty eight years old and wise enough to make her own decisions, however
deceitful they are and so will she also carry the consequences of the choices
she made.  You have been my best friend for most of my life and I appreciate
that you intended to tell me, but in this and right now … keep out of it and
stay away Michael.  I have to go.”

He
ended the call and walked back into his office just as Brooklyn finished the
presentation.  He stood straight and tall just inside the door, listening to
her answering questions from Tiaan and could not help but be impressed with her
answers.  However much she might be a lying bitch, she was an excellent
Executive Business Assistant.

“I
think that is enough for now.  Review the information and draw up the proposals
we just discussed for finalization on Monday.”  He sounded abrupt and he nodded
them towards the door.

Brooklyn
also rose and gathered her things.  She looked up when she heard the door slam
and watched Mason deliberately turn the key and lock the door.  He turned and
his eyes burned into hers then tracked a slow path down her body and back up.
She swallowed when his eyes met hers.

“Come
here.”

She
stood frozen, realization rushed through her that he knew.  His jaw hardened
and looked as if cast in stone.

“I
said, come here.”

She
walked slowly towards him, his eyes held hers captive until she stopped a few
feet away from him.  He took a step towards her and his hands rose to the two
edges of her blouse that were buttoned up high against her neck.  He gripped
the flimsy material and ripped it apart and she gasped when the top buttons
popped off and flew to the floor.

His
eyes dropped to the curve of her neck and his expression turned vicious when
the dark purple love bite in her neck was clearly visible and further proof to
her identity.

“Mason
… please … let me expl …”

“Shut
up.  You do not get to talk now.  You had ample time … now … I am not
interested.”

His
hard hands gripped her shoulders, swung her around and pressed her forward
until she bent over the boardroom table.  She started to struggle and pleaded
with him.

“Mason,
please!”

He
ignored her and she wailed when he pulled her skirt up over her hips and bared
her completely to him.  She intensified her struggles and cried in denial when he
ripped her G-string in two, kicked her legs apart and stroked his fingers down
her cleft.  He growled at her heat and wetness surrounding his finger.

“So
eager and willing … yet so deceitful …”

She
pleaded with him again when she heard him pull his pants’ zipper down and then
gasped when he rammed his hard shaft inside her, so hard and deep she cried
out.  Never has he felt so big and been so deep as right at this moment.   Even
through her tears and heartache her body heated and her sheath gripped him
tight.

He
stared thrusting furiously inside her, pulling out and plunging back hard and
deep, his mind in turmoil, hating that he wanted and needed her with so much
intensity still … even knowing how she deceived him.   She panted and her hands
were fisted and one pressed against her mouth, desperately dampening her cries
and moans at his plundering of her body.

He
leaned closer to her face, his hips slamming against hers, back and forth, his
anger driving him and his hands were hard around her hips keeping her still and
in place.

“You
better have those brown lenses out of your lying eyes by the time I am finished
with you, Brooklyn.”

His
voice growled in her ear and she shivered as she felt the familiar tightening
in her groin. The pressure build to a devastating height until she cried out in
despair as an unwanted but shattering climax ripped through her body.  She
gripped his shaft and milked him deeper inside her and he viciously plunged
harder and deeper until his own release shot from him forcefully and he growled
huskily.

His
fingers closed around the tight bun at the back of her head and he started
ripping the pins from her hair.  She cried out when he pulled her hair in the
process.  His shaft tightened and grew hard inside her again and she moaned.

“Are
they out yet, Brooklyn?”

“Mason
… please don’t … I …”

“Take.
Them. Out.”  He emphasized each word with a hard thrust inside her, stretching
her as he rolled himself deeper inside her and she moaned.  He continued to
pull the pins from her hair and Brooklyn tried to remove the lenses from her
eyes, but he kept trusting hard into her and she could not grip them.

“Please
stop! Mason, don’t do this! I beg you.”

“Oh
yes, honey.  You will learn to beg very well in the coming weeks.  I am waiting
for those lenses, Brooklyn.”

He
kept plunging into her methodically, deep and hard, watching her face, enjoying
the passion that flashed there, her quivering lip as she desperately tried not
to respond to the constant friction he deliberately generated inside her.

“I
can’t … please … not with you …”

“Not
with me what?”

He
breathed hotly in her ear and she felt the tears burn behind her eyes and
trickle down her cheeks.

“Come
on, Brooklyn, say it … what?”

“Making
love to m …”

He
growled and plunged even deeper into her.

“Let’s
call this what it is, honey.  This is not making love to you … this is fucking
you!”

She
cried and the tears now ran freely down her face and she struggled in earnest,
but he clamped his hands tighter around her hips.  He thrust his hips back and
forth faster and watched his shaft as he plunged in and out of her, his
breathing haggard at the erotic sight.

He
moved his hand around her hip and closed his fingers around her clit.  He stroked
and pinched hard until she keened through her tears and her body tightened.
She was completely helpless in his hands and he controlled her body’s responses
to his will. She curved her back upwards as another climax ripped through her.
He followed her immediately and closed his eyes as his own body tightened and
his knees went weak from the force of his release.

He
withdrew from her, pulled a handkerchief from his pocket and dried himself
before he pulled his pants in place and zipped them closed.  He watched
Brooklyn as she pushed herself up from the table and pulled her skirt down over
her hips.  His mouth tightened, refusing to soften his anger and heart.

“I
want those lenses.”

She
still had her back towards him and he watched her lift her hands and removed
them one by one with trembling hands.  He walked up to her and took them from
her hand, slowly crushing them between his thumb and forefinger.  He pulled her
face around to his.  He refused to be weakened by the tears on her cheeks and
quivering lips.  She kept her eyes lowered and a sob escaped her lips.  His jaw
tightened once more.

“Go
and clean that shit off your face.”

She
turned and aimed for his office door.

“Brooklyn.”
She stopped and he pulled her around facing the door on the far side of his
office.

“In
there.”

She
walked to the private bathroom and slithered down the back of the door to hunker
on the floor.  Her heart throbbed in pain, along with the throbbing and pulsing
in her sheath from the two shattering climaxes she just had.  She sat on the
floor for a long while, struggling to stop the tears.  His actions so unlike
the man she got to know over the past nearly five weeks.  Yet it was proof of
his ruthlessness in retaliation for her deceiving him.  Her heart withered
inside her, crying for the love she found, only to lose it again so soon …
through her own ministrations!

Chapter Nine

He stood in
front of the window with his hands fisted in his pant pockets when she came out
of the bathroom.  He watched her as she walked towards him.  Her face was scrubbed
clean from the dark makeup, but even with her red puffy eyes and tousled hair
she was still just as beautiful.

“Mason,
please let me explain.”

She
beseeched him in a soft voice, her eyes shining silver as they pleaded with
his.

“No.
I am not interested.  Not here and not now.  Tell me Brooklyn … how much of the
information on your application is the truth?”

“All
of it.”

His
eyes pierced hers, his face expressionless.

“I
already have my resignation letter on my desk.  I’ll go and fetch it.”

He
remained still and stared at the bright sky outside, pressing his lips tighter
together.  She approached him and held out the letter to him.  He took it from
her and without looking at it, tore it in pieces and handed it back to her, his
eyes scorching hers.  He refused to even contemplate why she would have a typed
resignation letter ready on her desk.

“You
are not going anywhere.  You will be at your desk every day and serve me in
everything I want you to.”

She
stared at him, her heart shrank even further.  He intended to use her like a
cheap whore. That much he made abundantly clear in the way he just took her on
the table.  She shook her head.

“No
… I made a mistake and I am so …”

“I
told you I don’t want to hear it.  You will stay, Brooklyn, because if you
don’t, I will break you, I will ruin your reputation in every aspect, including
professionally.  No company will touch you once I am done with you.”

She
had no doubt he meant every word and that he would not hesitate to ruin her.
She swallowed the lump in her throat and forced the tears burning behind her
eyelids back.  She could not afford a bad reputation if she wanted to achieve
success in the corporate world as an Industrial Psychologist.  She turned and
walked towards her office.

“Brooklyn,
you will not run crying to Michael.  I will not allow you to ruin our
friendship on top of everything.”

“Did
he …”

“No.”

“Then
how did you know?”

He
turned and walked up to her, tracing her profile from her forehead all the way
to her throat.

“I
recognized your profile.”

Her
eyes flared at the significance of that.  She looked deeply into his eyes,
stepped closer and drawing his head down, kissed him desperately on his hard
unmoving mouth.

“I
will never regret meeting you, no matter what your intentions are from this
point forward.”

She
whispered against his mouth. He pushed her away roughly and turned his back on
her.  He picked up her personnel file where he left it and settled on the chair
behind his desk.  He flipped it open to find her address and ignored her
completely.  She quickly gathered all her things that were still on the desk
and left.  With a heavy heart she discreetly carried on with her work.

He
left not long after that and she slumped in her chair in despair.  Her cell
phone rang and she cringed when she saw it was Michael.

“Hi
Mickey.”  She tried to sound normal, but the tears were in her voice and
Michael sighed.

“Are
you okay, sis?”

“No
… I hurt Mickey!”

He
cursed and she struggled to keep the tears at bay.  She sniffled and sighed in
resignation.

“You
were right … I should have told him straight away … now … he hates me!”

“I
am not so sure about that.”

“He
would not even let me explain!”

“Where
are you?”

“Still
at the office.”

“I
… don’t understand.”

“He
refused to release me from my position.  He is livid.  I don’t know how to make
him listen to me.”

“What
are you going to do?”

“Keep
trying.  I … can’t lose him.”

“That’s
the spirit, sis.  Hang in there.  Are you coming to the race this weekend?”

She
hesitated, bitter pain clawed at her for having sold her baby for nothing.

“Maybe
next week.”

They
chatted awhile longer until Michael was satisfied that she was calm and then
ended the call.

It
was already after five when she started to clear her desk and switched her
computer off when Mason sauntered in.  He flashed a hard glance at her, and
looked her up and down.

“Is
your whole work wardrobe this drab and two sizes too big?”

She
glared at him.  “No.”

“Good
… make sure you don’t pack them.”

“What
do you mean?”

“I
will pick you up from your place in two hours.  Pack everything you will need
until the weekend.  The rest will be packed up tomorrow.”

“I
… why?”

His
eyebrows lifted.  “You proved to be untrustworthy.  You are coming to stay with
me where I can keep an eye on you.”

“No,
I am not.”

“Yes, honey … you
are.  Be ready in two hours and be warned, if I have to go searching for you,
you will regret it.”

The short rap
on the door shook her to the core and she hesitated. How would she survive his
hatred of her, his total disregard of her feelings?  Was her new found love for
him strong enough to withstand the callous man that was out to punish and make
her suffer?

A
clearly impatient hard knock sounded again and she walked to the door, unlocked
and opened it.  He stepped through immediately, forcing her to step back.  His
eyes briefly took in the neat and modern furnishing, which reflected who she
was.

“Where
are your bags?”

“In
the room.  Mason, can we please talk?”

He
swung to her, his eyes as cold as the Arctic sea.

“About
what?  Nothing that passes your lips is the truth, so what would be the
purpose?  I sincerely doubt I will believe anything you say at this point.”

He
looked around her apartment again, noticing her extensive collections of books,
DVD’s and cd’s.

“You
better make a list of everything you want to take with tonight, so that they
will know what to pack tomorrow.  Any furniture, your books, linen … whatever.
The rest you decide if we sell it, or if you want to give it away.”

“Wha
… what do you mean?”

He
speared a formidable glare at her, a sardonic smile on his lips.

“This
is the last time you will see the inside of this apartment.  I told you, you
are coming to stay with me.”

“But
… for how long?  I have a lease!”

“Not
anymore you don’t.  I gave notice to the landlord and paid the notice on your
lease already.  They have a long waiting list and he already signed a new
tenant up, who will be moving in on the weekend.”

“You
… you can’t do that!”

“Can’t
I?  It’s already done, honey.”

He
walked to her room and left her staring after him with her mouth hanging open
and her eyes wide in disbelief.  He returned with the suitcase and duffel bag
and lifted his brow at her dazed expression.

“Why?”
She asked huskily, watching his eyes turn as dark as the midnight sky.

“Why?
I already told you, Brooklyn.  I will never let you go.  Unfortunately our
future path seemed to have taken another turn and will be different from what I
expected when I said that.  Nevertheless, it doesn’t change the fact that you
are mine.  You, however, have set the bar for how things will be from this
point forward.”

“And
how will that be?”

“I
guess you will have to wait and see. Let’s go, we’ve wasted enough time.”

The
look in his eyes warned her not to try and stall any longer and with a resigned
sigh, she grabbed her hand-and laptop bags, turned and walked out the door.
She waited for him to follow, then pulled the door closed and locked it.
Before she could throw the keys in her bag, his hand closed over hers and
pulled the keys from her hand.

“Do
you have a car here?”

“No,
I use public transport.”

He
nodded and stalked down the corridor to the elevator.  When they went up rather
than down, she realized he came by helicopter and parked it on the roof of the
building.  They were airborne soon after that, neither saying a word all the
way until he landed the helicopter at the helipad on his estate.

He
turned to her and she felt his eyes on her in the dim interior light, but she
refused to look at him.  He sighed, got out and walked around to open the door
on her side.  His eyes were on her face all the time and he refused to step
back.  She was forced to slide down his body as she got out, her eyes lowered.
He cursed, gripped her chin with a hard hand and forced her eyes up to his.

She
gasped at the glowing embers clearly visible even in the near dark.  His head
lowered and he kissed her with a hard and cold deliberateness until she opened
her lips under his probing tongue.  He pushed deep into the recesses of her
mouth, probing and stroking her tongue, tangling, pulling and sucking it into
his mouth.  His mouth slanted over hers, first this way and that as if he
couldn’t get enough and he fed greedily on her lips.  When he pulled away she
leaned weakly against his strong body, her hands gripped his sides and her body
flustered with need.

“Welcome
to your new home, honey.”

His
voice sounded hoarse, but as brittle as ice and laced with sarcasm.  He turned
and greeted his groundkeeper that hovered nearby.

“Evening,
Barry.  Please load the luggage in the back of the car.”  He turned back to
her, taking her elbow in his hand and guided her to the garage.

“Tiaan
and Charles are at the house already.  We always get together for a barbeque on
Wednesday evenings.”

She
stopped and looked at him, her eyes pleading.

“Mason
… what are you going to tell them?”

‘I
don’t have to tell them everything.  They have known about you from the first
day we met.  I already told Tiaan about … Zita this afternoon.”

She
bit her lip and wished she could run away.

“Don’t
worry, honey pot, I have no intention of sharing your deceitfulness with the
whole world.  You, Michael and I are the only ones that know the truth behind
it.  Tiaan thinks it is very romantic that you disguised yourself to … catch
me.”

She
looked into his eyes, which were now clearly visible under the bright light of
the garage.

“What
do you believe the truth to be, Mason?  You have not given me an opportunity to
explain.”

His
eyes became shuttered and glittered hard when they met hers.

“My
brother and cousin have waited long enough.  Let’s go.  Be warned, Brooklyn,
react in any way other than loving and eager to be in my arms, and you will
have more to account for.  You will not further humiliate me in front of my
family … and for that matter, wherever we go to in public from this point
forward.”

“What
do you mean?”

“I
mean, as far as anyone else is concerned, the speculations in the tabloids are
the truth.  We are a couple, happy, in love and hot for each other!”

Brooklyn
didn’t even try to respond to that.  She realized that he had closed himself
from her.  Nothing she would say would matter, he made it clear a few times he
was not interested in any explanation from her.  Would he ever be willing to
listen to her, or was this the way it was going to be all the time?   A cold
war and freezing her deliberately out emotionally?   He made it clear that
physically he still wanted her and had no intention of staying away from her.

She
dragged her heels when they reached the house and he turned to her, a deep
frown between his eyes.

“Brooklyn?”

She
glanced at him and her eyes moved over his face.  She noticed the deep lines on
the side of his mouth and his jaw clenched under her scrutiny.  He was an
extremely proud man and she could imagine the feelings he has been struggling
with since he found her out.  He mentioned humiliation and she only now
realized that must be how he felt, but she never intended to!

He
walked back to where she hesitated just outside the front door.  He gripped her
cheeks and lifted her face to stare deeply into her eyes.  She wet her lips and
swallowed hard.

“I
never meant to deceive or humiliate you.  I intended to tell you this morning,
but Tiaan walked in.”

Mason
recalled she wished to tell him something, but he shook his head lightly.

“Do
you think that would have made that much of a difference?  If you for even one
moment believe I would accept your deliberate deceit with just an apology, you
are sadly mistaken.  No, Brooklyn.  It is going to take a hell of a lot more
than that!”
