Forthwith, he grimaced, spat out the contents in revulsion, and churlishly threw the glass onto the floor. It wasn’t exactly what he had expected. He learned then and there that polar bear blood was an acquired taste.
Nathaniel ponderingly steepled his hands, and tapped the tip of each finger off its opposing digit. He tried his hardest not to think about Faelynn, and more so, what she was doing outside with Wayne. But Nathaniel knew his questioning needed to be satisfied.
I have to know what she is doing with The Lone Ranger,
he concluded, unwilling to be a participant in the guessing game of what her relationship to him was.
Not caring to think further on the matter, Nathaniel immediately got up from his seat and dashed at superhuman speed to the same emergency exit that they left from. He hesitated for the shortest of moments—the very briefest of instants—wondering if he were to open that door, would it do him any real good? Or would it just unleash upon him more reasons to drown his sorrows, or even give birth to further situations for him to brood over in times to come?
Either way, the striking and luring emanation left by Faelynn LeCroix in her wake won the decisive battle for his sense of reason and was motive enough for him to push open the emergency exit door. Nathaniel slyly dipped from sight out the back of the tavern with his probing mind in tow. There would be no turning back.
