“You’ll get no complaints from me.” She leaned her head back against his chest and stared into his eyes. “Tonight was perfect.”

“Remember when I said you had managed to win over my family?” When he stroked her hair, she relaxed against him. “You’ve won me over too.”

She kissed his cheek. No words were needed. Pulling her closer to him, he kissed the top of her head and held her tight. She’d be hard to let go. Tonight or any other night.

Chapter 8

Coda opened her eyes, but quickly threw the pillow over her face to block out the sunlight pouring in through the large windows across from the bed. She heard Spencer in the distance.

“Just have it delivered to the lobby as soon as possible. I don’t care how much the messenger fee is. Get it here before the ceremony.”

He must have been talking to the art department about getting another set of logos sent to the hotel. Did the man ever get a day off? The agency had been working on that account for weeks. She’d stayed with Vince as he worked late into the night on those logos.

She stretched her sore muscles. She grinned like a silly teenager when she thought about how they had gotten so tired. She’d never spent the night with anyone before. She thought having sex all night was a myth made up by soap opera writers. She had no idea anyone could climax that many times. Spencer had a gift. Nothing he did to her felt wrong. His every action made her crave more.

“You awake, beautiful?” The mattress dipped and then he pried the pillow from her face. “Morning.” He leaned down and kissed her. “I’ve been waiting for you.”

I have too. My whole life.

“Hi.” She reached up and ran her hand along his morning stubble. “How long have you been awake?”

“Not long.” He dropped down next to her, propping himself on his elbow. “I had to take care of a few things.”

“Working already?”

“I turned off my phone.” He smiled and this time it seemed to reach his whole face. “I can’t remember the last time I did that.”

“I’m shocked.”

“Don’t be.” He tapped the tip of her nose with his finger. “I want to spend the day with you. No interruptions. Just the two of us.”

“What would you like to do?”

“We’re not leaving this room.” He grinned. “Until the ceremony.”

“I like the way you think, but won’t your family wonder where we are for breakfast and lunch?”

“I’m sure they’ll figure it out.” He lowered the sheet, revealing her breasts to him. The cool breeze from the ceiling fan coupled with his close proximity caused her nipples to harden. “Breakfast will be delivered in an hour.” Swirling his thumb over her nipples, he moved his lips to her neck. “I wanted us to have time to shower.”

“You think of everything.”

“We have six hours before we have to be downstairs.” He extended his hand for her and led her down the hall to the bathroom. “Let’s not waste one minute.”

She didn’t want to squander any of their time together. She tried not to think about the fact that tomorrow would be Sunday. What happened then? How could she go back to thinking about him as Mr. Cannon, CEO of Cannon and Carrington?

He turned on the faucet and placed his hand under the running water. “Do you like it hot?”

“The water?” She pulled his basketball shorts from his hips.

“Such a little tease.” He slapped her backside. “I know you like the sex hot.” He stepped out of his shorts. “You proved that last night.”

“You would know.” She took in his naked form, almost losing her breath over his physique and toned lines.

“I’m guessing you need some hot water to relax those overworked muscles. I know I do.” He walked into the oversized shower and beckoned her inside.

She followed him under the powerful spray. Now she saw the need for those multiple jets. Rich people even figured out a better way to shower together.

He moved behind her and guided her against his chest. She loved the tenderness in the kisses he placed on her neck and shoulders. She’d never experienced such an attentive man before. He left no part of her body neglected. With every touch she felt his desire to please her.

He reached for the bottle on the built-in shelf in front of her.

“That’s shampoo,” she told him. “Don’t you want the bodywash?”

“Not yet.” He led her to the jet on the wall behind them. “Tilt your head back.”

Holy crap! He wants to wash my hair.

He gathered her locks in his hand and gently moved her head under the stream. Once he was satisfied her hair was wet enough, he poured the mint scented shampoo into his palm.

“Your hair is beautiful.” He massaged the shampoo into her scalp, working his way down her head. She closed her eyes as he manipulated the soap into a sudsy lather. His fingers created a strong but relaxing pressure as he moved them to the base of her head.

“Oh…that feels really good.”

“Just enjoy, sweetheart. You deserve to be taken care of.”

The soap dripped from her hair and trickled down her breasts and stomach. She imagined his hands taking the same path as the bubbles. She longed for his expert fingers inside her heat. He knew just how and where to touch.

“Lean your head back again,” he whispered into her ear. “I need to rinse your hair.”

“Hmm…” She tilted her head back and let him wash away the suds.

When he moved closer to her, his erection pressed against her backside. Apparently she wasn’t the only one aroused with the scenario he had created. With one hand he continued to thread his fingers through her locks, making sure there were no traces of soap, but with his other he proved why he was such an expert pianist. He traced his fingertips over the top of her breasts and then across her nipples.

She placed her head against his shoulder as he moved his hand lower. “I’m ready for the bodywash now,” he said.

She turned to face him. “I think it’s my turn to address your needs.” Peeking down between them she licked her lips when she spied his impressive erection. “I have just the thing.”

“Don’t let me stop you.” He kissed her hard on the lips as she backed him against the wall. “I think I may need extra attention.”

She trailed hot, opened-mouth kisses across his shoulders and down his chest. “That I can do.” She dropped to her knees and glanced up at him. “For as long as it takes.”

When they emerged from the long, steamy shower breakfast waited for them. The aroma of the fresh bacon and sausage seeped down the hall. She was sure she’d gained a few pounds these past few days, indulging in all of the decadent foods, but she didn’t care. She couldn’t remember the last time she’d eaten so well. She’d tried many different foods but she couldn’t wait to tell her mother she’d eaten lobster. They always joked that one day they’d splurge and treat themselves to a fancy dinner. They had yet to do that.

Spencer slipped on a pair of jeans. “From the way this room smells, I’m betting breakfast is here.”

“I’m starving.” She threw on a black t-shirt and matching boy shorts. “Let’s eat.”

“That’s what you’re wearing?” He looked her over.

“What? Not formal enough for you, Mr. Cannon?”

“I’m wondering how you expect me to get through breakfast without ravishing you.” He took her into his arms. “You look delectable.”

“I could say the same about you and your bare chest. What kind of workout gets you those abs?”

“Martial Arts.”

“Really?” The thought of him sparring or breaking boards with his bare hands sent tingles through her. Could he get any more desirable?

“I’m a third degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do. I started when I was a kid and continued as an adult. I don’t make time for much else but I never miss my training sessions. I’m at the gym at five-thirty, four days a week.”

“You’re a freakin’ machine.” She finished towel drying her hair. “An accomplished pianist, a black belt, a billionaire, and a CEO. Where have you been all my life?”

“I’ve never associated myself with all of those labels.” He led her down the hall and to the perfectly set table. “I’m just me. Nothing spectacular.”

“Yeah, right. You’re too good to be true.” She realized why Ava couldn’t let go. Men like Spencer were hard to find. If a girl found one like him how could she give him up?

She sat down at the table set for two and placed her napkin in her lap. Luckily for her, she’d worked for her cousin’s catering business from the time she was fifteen and learned about fine dining or this weekend would have been a challenge. She managed to blend right in with all of those fancy pants relatives of his.

“I could say the same about you.” He took a seat across from her and lifted the silver lids off the platters. “I never expected you.”

“Did you think I’d be loud because I’m from Brooklyn?” She poured him a cup of coffee. “You did take a big chance by bringing me here, didn’t you? How did you know I wasn’t going to embarrass you in front of your family?”

“Actually, that thought never crossed my mind. I came after you on impulse. I’m not a very spontaneous person. I’m well-thought out and calculated. You were a whole new game for me.”

“No regrets?” She sipped her juice.

“None.”

“Good.”
I don’t have any either.

“Are you ready to eat?” He took the lid off the last container to reveal the blueberry pancakes. “I made sure we had some blueberries on the menu.”

She looked at all the choices. “Who is going to eat all of this?”

“You said you were starving, and I do plan on using lots of your energy today.” He drizzled syrup over his pancakes. “I didn’t know what you’d like, so I asked them to bring a variety of items. I hope there’s something here you want.”

“Are you kidding? I love breakfast. I can’t remember the last time I had bacon.” She picked up a piece and took a bite.

“You work in a diner.”

“I don’t eat there. It’s a grease pit.” She placed some fruit on her plate. “I don’t eat out much.”

“Why not?”

“I don’t know.” She shrugged. “Not in the budget, I guess. Some nights we eat cereal but we’re used to it.”

“Has it always been like that for you?”

“Pretty much.” She sipped her coffee. “My parents were young when they had me. Barely out of high school. My father had big dreams for his music but didn’t really want to work. My mom did the best she could do, but without any education and a kid to feed it was hard. She was so happy when I got into NYU, but I didn’t want to go at first.”

“Why not?”

“I thought it would be better if I got a full-time job at a bank or as a receptionist, you know? I wanted to help pay the bills. My mother wouldn’t let me. She wanted me to go to college, so she picked up more shifts and we made do. We didn’t plan on her getting sick and me not finding a job out of college. I received financial aid, but I still had to take out some loans. The bills piled up faster than we thought they would.”

“I’m sorry,” he said. “I can’t imagine the amount of stress you and your mother must be under.”

“No, you can’t, Mr. CEO.” She laughed because it was always easier to deal with the crap life had thrown at her when she stayed positive. “But we’ll be okay.”
Thanks to you.
“I’m being stupid. You don’t need to hear about my problems. That’s not why I’m here.”

“I think the terms of you being here have changed.” He splashed some cream into his cup. “Considerably.”

“I’d rather focus on how they’ve changed.” She grinned. “You promised me a full afternoon.”

“So I did.” He nodded. “Eat up.”

She glanced at the foyer and thought about what he’d done to her there the night before. She licked her lips and returned her gaze to him.

“I know what you’re thinking about.” He smirked. “Trust me, I plan to get my fill of you.”

“Promise?”

“I guarantee it.”

“Hmm.” She squeezed her legs together, trying to create some much needed friction. “I’d like to guarantee a few things myself.”

Chapter 9

As Spencer watched Coda nap he thought about the past few days. When he approached her in that diner, he never intended for them to end up in bed together. He’d thought about what it would be like to sleep with her. Who could blame him? She had to be the most striking woman he’d ever encountered. She had a purity about her he didn’t see often. He hated that her life had been so hard. It didn’t seem fair that he, Tyler, Ava, and the rest of his family had it so easy. They were born into money and never had to experience hardship or financial difficulties. He wondered how many nights throughout her life Coda had gone to bed hungry. Never again, he vowed.

She shifted in her sleep and then opened her eyes. She reached for him. “You’re dressed.” He saw her disappointment.

“I took a shower while you slept. I didn’t want to disturb you.”

“I guess I should get ready.”

“The ceremony starts in an hour. I need to run down to the lobby and pick up something.” The front desk had called to let him know his package had arrived.

“I thought you weren’t working today.” She sat up and stretched, causing the sheet to fall. He looked away because staring at her scrumptious breasts would lead to other things and they would miss the wedding for sure.

“It’s not work related.” He smiled. “I’ll be back soon. You get moving.”

“Is that an order, Mr. Cannon?” She crawled into his lap. “I like when you tell me what you want.”

“Not now.” He groaned when his cock expanded. “We’ll be late.”

“And you’re never late.”

“Exactly.” He picked her up and carried her to the bathroom. “If I wasn’t dressed I’d join you.”

“Maybe later? I like the way you washed my hair.”

“Whatever you want.” He meant that. He’d give her everything.

“Hurry back.”

“Why, will you miss me?” He sat her on the counter and stepped in between her legs.

“Hmm.” She leaned her head back when he kissed her neck. “This is how we got started last night. Remember?”

“How could I forget?” He moved his hands up her stomach and cupped her breasts. “I’m not sure how I even made it through dinner last night. It’s a damn good thing I didn’t know you had forgotten your panties until dessert.”
