has been writing since she was a girl. In university she discovered a love for history. After several years working in the highly charged world of advertising, she turned to writing historical romance. She is married to a wonderfully romantic husband, Philip, whom she allows to believe is the model for her heroes.

The Prisoner
is Karyn Monk's passionate new romance of a proud Scottish nobleman, an unconventional beauty, and a love that defies all odds.
He was a fugitive from justiceâ¦
Once a powerful laird, now a convicted murderer, Haydon Kent, Marquess of Redmond, had no hope of eluding the hangman's nooseâuntil a mysterious beauty appeared in the dark shadows of his cell.
Escaping in the dead of night, he seeks only to reclaim his life and prove his innocence. Instead he finds himself imprisoned once againâby an exquisite woman with red-gold hair who soothes his fevered body and tormented soulâ¦and stirs in him a passion unlike any he has ever known.
â¦until she imprisoned his heart.
An outcast from society, Genevieve MacPhail has devoted her life to rescuing wayward urchins from the brutalities of a corrupt prison system. Harboring an infamous escaped murderer will only imperil the beloved children who have become the center of her world. But she doesn't believe the disarmingly handsome nobleman is a cold-blooded killerâeven if he does harbor a painful secret.
Determined to solve the mystery of who was trying to kill him, Genevieve will assume the role of Haydon's wife, only to find herself succumbing to a dangerous desire that could destroy them both.

lex swung down from his horse and stalked toward her.
“Do you have any idea how close you just came to death?” he demanded softly.
“MacDunn, Iâ”
He grabbed her by her slim, bare shoulders, needing to touch her, to be sure she was still whole and well.
Gwendolyn stood paralyzed as MacDunn's mouth covered hers. She had never been kissed before, for no one in her clan would have dared dally with the girl marked from childhood as a witch. But even in her innocence she could feel his unleashed passion. A flame burst to life in the pit of her stomach, and her blood quickened, making her feel flushed and strange.
She leaned into his muscular frame and locked her arms around his neck, clinging to him as she urgently returned his kiss. Power seemed to emanate from him as his hands roamed her body. Pleasure washed through her as she pressed against him, and a soft cry escaped her throat.
Alex began to explore the narrow path of her back, the satin skin of her shoulders, the delicate cage of her ribs. He wanted to take this witch now, here, in the forest, to lay her down on a bed of fragrant pine and lose himself to her softness and heatâ¦.
