This time, when she cried out, it had nothing to do with pleasure.

Jenner snarled her name, but he didn’t slow. He seemed caught up in some invisible current, and his hips moved faster, faster. The burst of hot pain ebbed quickly, replaced once more by exquisite and building pressure. Now liquid heat coiled up her legs, through her body, feeling like it was running through her veins. Jenner’s mouth grazed hers, then moved to graze his sharp teeth down the side of her neck.

Mia didn’t think, only acted on instincts that were now screaming at her to join with Jenner fully, to complete the ritual. The air around them shimmered, a beautiful haze. She felt her own claws, teeth, could sense all the wonder of that could come with being a child of the moon dangling just out of her reach.

“Please” was all she could get out as she clung to him. “Please.”

He growled, this time a sound that wasn’t at all human, and buried himself deep inside her. At the same moment, she felt his teeth break the tender flesh at the base of her neck, the same place that Jeff had bitten her. But this time, there was no fear, no pain.

Mia came in a white hot flash of blinding light, her body arcing off the bed and taking Jenner even deeper. The pleasure was intense, consuming her, burning away everything but the feel of him inside of her. As she flexed tight around him, Jenner threw his head back and gave a hoarse cry, his own climax tearing through him and washing like a wave through Mia. As he shuddered against her, all Mia could do was hang on. Her head was full of voices, rising and falling, a chant in a language she didn’t understand. And then there was howling, a wild and mournful sound that reverberated through her very soul. And in the distance, the wild music of her other half, whirling upward into the night sky, spinning into the song that she had dreamed of. Her song. Nick’s song.

Their song.

The sound faded away, her body slowly descended from its dizzying peak. But when she finally opened her eyes again, she still had Jenner. Her arms were around him, and he was real and warm and solid. And hers.

Looking dazed, Jenner eased onto his side, reaching down to grab the blanket folded at the end of the bed and then draping it over the two of them before pulling Mia’s body back into his. Jenner brushed the hair away from her neck and gave the place he’d bitten her a soft kiss.

Mia snuggled back into him. She could still hear faint echoes of other voices, though with a little effort she found she could silence them if she liked. The voices of the pack, she supposed.
Her
pack.

“You’re Blackpaw now,” he said softly, and then lay back down, wrapping his arms around her. “And more important, you’re mine. Forever. I love you, Mia.”

“I love you, Nick.”

They curled together, fitted perfectly, two halves of the same whole, and waited for the moon to rise.

They were one.
