Hearing nothing, I glanced over and saw
his eyes closed. By the sound of his breathing, he had fallen asleep. I took
the cup of wine he still held and finished it off, watching him.

The next morning, the weather was still
gloomy gray but with patches of sun trying to peek through. Amadeus and I had
little sleep the night before, but neither of us complained. He had gotten up
before me and made coffee before starting breakfast. The smell of bacon and
eggs frying woke me up smiling. I got out of bed and sat in the booth across
from him, the both of us naked. Well, he had shorts on as he’d been up top to
check everything out. I pulled them down and off before I slid in my seat.
“Are you looking forward to our trip to
New York, Zara?” he asked me in between mouthfuls of bacon.
“Yes, I am. I can’t wait for Logan to
meet your mother and Peter.”
“Yeah, from what Peter says, poor Logan’s
going to have more clothes and electronic stuff than he’ll know what to do
with.”
“Let her spoil him. He’ll eat it up, I’m
sure.”
“You’re not mad at her? You’ve gotten
over it?”
“Yes. I’m still not real happy about it
when I do think about it, but its water under the bridge, Amadeus. She was
simply concerned about me and didn’t trust Julia’s motives.”
“It’s in the past, Zara. Leave it alone.
Let’s move on.”
“Yep. Damien has his photo shoot. You
guys have your recording session, and best of all, we all get to stay out in
the Hamptons. Pretty sweet if you don’t mind me saying so.”
“Yep. Well I guess we need to be heading
back home. I told Damien we’d be back around noon. I think one of the girls has
something planned in Seattle late this afternoon.”
“Okay, let me throw on my clothes, and
we’ll clean up this mess. Then I’ll help you get us underway.”
We quickly washed and dried all the
dishes and pans in the galley, storing everything securely. Moving topside,
Amadeus cranked up the engine and let it idle. I stood at the helm while he
pulled up the anchor. Walking back, he took the wheel and began to navigate us
out of the cove. I noticed no other vessels anywhere close to us.
Slowly I placed my hand over his cock. I
could feel it enlarging at my mere touch. He pretended not to notice what I was
doing as he steered the boat out into open water at a leisurely pace. Lowering
myself to my knees, I pulled his shorts down over his hips. Gently gliding my
hands over his cock, I spotted pre-cum glistening from the tip. I lowered my
mouth over it and flicked it away with my tongue. I heard him suck in a breath.
I ran my tongue along the edge of the tip and slowly began to engulf his cock
with my mouth. I sucked and nipped before he began to rock in a familiar
motion. I met his rhythm with my mouth. As the act became more intense, I felt
one of his hands wrap around the back of my head as though guiding me through
his needs. I began to feel his body shudder as both hands held my head. The
salty thick come sprayed the back of my throat as I heard him moan. “Oh God,
Zara.” I stayed in my place as I sucked every drop from him and licked his
erection clean. I was horny and needed to come bad. I slowly stood beside him
and we kissed passionately.
He bent down and put his shorts back on,
eyeing me lustfully. “Pervert, huh. Who’s the pervert now?” he kidded, wrapping
one arm around my waist.
I giggled and leaned up to kiss his
cheek.
“Do you think you can take the wheel,
baby?” I nodded and placed my hands on the wheel as I felt two of his fingers
lightly brush against my hardened clit. He ran his fingers back, inserting them
into my soaking wet entrance. Finding the one place he knew would make me come
hard, he touched me there once. I became unhinged, and my body trembled as an
orgasm took me over the edge. I heard him chuckle as he removed his soaking wet
digits and pinched my throbbing clit causing me to convulse in a white hot
orgasm. I felt him kiss the top of my head as he guided me to a seat, taking
the wheel. Before he did we shared one last kiss. “Did you like that, baby?”
I nodded, unable to speak. My shorts
were soaking wet in the crotch. Yep, we still couldn’t keep our hands off each
other. We were still like two horny kids sometimes. And I wouldn’t give that up
for anything. Neither would he.
Finally, he raised the sails, and we
made our way back across the sound to our home. The wind was even better than
the day before for sailing. Amadeus opened the Tudor Queen up and let her
stretch herself to her limits.
August and summer is waning down into
September. The Labor Day weekend is truly the last weekend of summer in this
part of the country. Schools officially begin the day after Labor Day, on
Tuesday. Logan is set to begin his year in junior high, middle school, whatever
the buzz word for this particular set of school years. Elizabeth will be
attending a day care and pre-school a couple of days a week. At her age it’s
more the day care end. Amadeus and I decided enrolling her would be good for
her and us. For her to interact with children of her own age group and for us,
well…
When Amadeus is home it’s an entirely
different story. The time alone gives us some much needed ‘us’ time. Out on
tour it allows me time to catch up either on housework or whatever project I am
ensuing. It seems our life is settling into a satisfying pattern.
Our last fling for the summer is a trip
to Manhattan. Damien has an overdue photo shoot for his layout for GQ magazine.
His piece moved from a September release to October. The photos I shot on the
sailboat and those of the three are already in Christina and Jack’s
professional hands.
Amadeus and his brothers are also going
to finish up recording while in town. They had started it in Seattle, but
Amadeus wanted the product finished in New York, stating he preferred the
equipment and sound better.
Everyone was going to converge on Grace
and Peter. They had rented a huge house on the beach in the Hamptons. They had
yet to meet Logan and this would be a perfect getaway for it to happen.
I arranged Damien’s photo shoot for the
morning after we arrived. Damien was insistent I oversee this final phase. He
still felt vulnerable and was afraid of somehow being used. I agreed, silently
knowing he would have been fine. But if it made him feel better…
Amadeus and I had spent the night with
the kids in my now way too small Manhattan apartment, which we had kept over
the years for our sporadic trips to the Big Apple. Damien spent the night at a
hotel, while his daughters went on to Long Island with Angus and his crew. Once
Damien was finished, we would all take the car service out to the Hamptons for
our last summer vacation.
As the limo pulled up in front of the
contemporary stucco and glass mansion, Amadeus turned to me. “Nervous?”
“No, why should I be?”
“Umm, no reason. Logan, you nervous
about meeting your grandmother?
“No,” he mimicked, “should I be?” He was
his father’s child. Not only in looks but mannerisms and now the cocky
attitude. Perhaps his attitude might be just that of a smart mouthed teenager.
We all piled out of the limo, Amadeus
holding Elizabeth, who was just now waking up from her long nap. Damien was the
last to emerge, looking around for his daughters as he did. Grace, as expected,
came bounding out of the front door to greet us. I smiled, wondering how long
she had been pacing the floor and looking out the windows for us.
“I was beginning to wonder about you
all,” she exclaimed, kissing everyone on the cheek as she went from one of us
to the next. She came to Logan and stopped. “And this must be Logan. Hello,
Logan, I’m your father’s mother, Grace Tudor. You may call me Grace if it’s
easier for you.”
Logan let the older woman hug him and
plant a kiss on his cheek. He stood looking at her, then at Amadeus for a moment.
“Can we go to the beach?”
“Sure you can, in a bit. I bet you’d
like some lunch first, wouldn’t you?” Amadeus inquired.
“Of course, how rude of me. Come on in.
I have lunch on the patio for everyone. Peter should be out there still.”
As Logan scampered inside, we followed.
Grace approached me and hugged me in silence. “He’s certainly Amadeus’s boy,
isn’t he?”
“No mistaking that, Grace. More than you
know,” I replied.
She tried to take Elizabeth from
Amadeus, but the baby would have nothing to do with her yet. Instead she put
her arms out to me whining her confusion. “Amadeus said she’s walking now.”
“Yes, when she’s not being lazy about
it. She’s still a bit unsure of herself. She gets mad when she falls down.”
We followed Grace inside the house.
Damien had already beat a path to find his girls. They were his life now and he
tried to spend as much time as possible with them, knowing they wouldn’t be at
home for many more years.
We all stepped outside onto the patio to
find Logan and Peter deep in conversation. Neither Amadeus nor I had ever
mentioned exactly who Peter was other than someone his mother was married to.
And we had forgotten to tell him one other key piece of information.
“You never told me your dad was Peter McNichol,”
Logan exclaimed in wide-eyed wonder. “But why is your last name different?”
“Peter is my step-dad, I guess you could
say,” Amadeus chuckled. I don’t think that thought had entered his mind until
this very moment.
“Then where’s your dad?”
“He died unexpectedly a few years ago,
Logan,” Grace informed him. “Your dad and Zara sort of introduced me to Peter.”
“And the rest is history, right?” He
laughed.
We all laughed in relief. I silently
kicked myself for not making sure Logan had been told the facts ahead of time.
But in his usual down to earth fashion, Peter had guided Logan right through
it.
Elizabeth, tired of Logan getting all
the attention, began to fuss and babble her discontentment. Grace put her hands
out to her and Elizabeth went to her. “Why don’t I go change her? You all help
yourselves. Amadeus, you might want to explain how we eat around here in case
Peter hasn’t done so already.”
“Yes, ma’am,” he replied. Grace was
referring to the fact that Peter was vegetarian. Though in the past, he would
have never allowed animal or meat products in his house, he had mellowed a bit
for Grace’s sake.
Scanning the two tables containing lunch,
I noticed most of it looked vegetarian. Salads, fruits. I wondered if Grace was
going over to the ‘other side’… I grabbed a plate full of fruit along with a
small salad and sat down at one of the tables spread out along the patio. The
beach and water beckoned gently. Looking off to one side, I saw Damien walking
along the water’s edge with both of his daughters. Peter brought me back to
reality asking me what I’d like to drink as he placed a tall glass of lemonade
in front of me. He knew I loved his homemade concoction of lemons, sugar, and
something I’d never been able to figure out.
“You look good, Zara,” he said as he sat
down across from me. “Having some time off looks good on you.”
“Thanks, but I don’t know if it’s simply
having some time off. I sure haven’t had any free time.” I giggled and popped a
grape in my mouth as I observed Amadeus picking through the fruits and veggies
on the buffet.
“I wouldn’t expect you to simply lie
around. It’s not in your nature to be idle.”
“That’s for sure, what with two kids to
keep up with, or should I say three. Amadeus acts just like one of them when he’s
home.”
“Logan seems like a nice boy. Is he
adjusting to everything as well as can be expected?”
“Yes, he’s done quite well. He follows
Amadeus around like a shadow, but I imagine that won’t last forever given his
age.”
“Given whose age?” Amadeus asked as he
sat down beside me with his plate piled high.
“Logan,” I replied, nodding my head at
the young boy who was matching his father in food. The youngster balanced his
plate and drink toward a nearby table where a couple of Angus’ kids were
eating. “He’s not going to stay your shadow forever given his age.”
“Oh, I know. I feel for you, Zara. Lucky
for me, I’ll be away when that starts happening.”
“You
putz
,” I
teased. “That’s right, go off on tour and leave me to raise the kids. I know
how you guys do.”
“You could all go along with Amadeus,
you know,” Peter chimed in.
“Perhaps next year,” I replied. “I would
like to get everyone into a routine and settled into the house, school, and
such before we go uprooting them and taking them along with tutors and nannies
on the road.”
Amadeus looked up from his plate of food
at Peter. His tone and look had gone from carefree to serious. “While Damien
isn’t here, any word about Julia or Don?”
Peter shook his head. In an effort to
help the authorities find the two, Peter had hired his own people. “Not a
hiccup, Amadeus. She’s not contacted either of the girls since the last time.
My people assume, and the authorities seem to agree, that they must have taken
on aliases and are traveling under assumed names now.”
Amadeus shook his head, not saying a
word. What could you say? She had left everyone hanging with a huge mess.
Amadeus and I had cleaned it up as well as we could, but it wasn’t over. We
both hoped this next tour the three did would have any remaining vendors paid
off and each of them in the black as far as their own income.
“Well, Miss Elizabeth here is ready for
some lunch, Zara. Can she eat from the table or should I get her some baby
food?” Grace asked holding onto the freshly changed baby.
“She can have some fruit as long as
there are no seeds, and she’s drinking whole milk now. If you don’t mind
starting her on that, I’ll get her some baby food as soon as I finish.”
“You go ahead and eat. We’ll just let
her choose what she wants.”
We finished lunch in quiet conversation.
Amadeus nonchalantly drew closer to me as we sat mesmerized by our
surroundings. He swung a leg over my thigh, letting it rock back and forth in a
slow sensual motion. We were quickly shaken back into reality by Logan begging
to go down on the beach. Amadeus groaned as he stood up, pulling me to my feet
as he did.
“You two go on with Logan. Peter and I’ll
watch Elizabeth. It’s too hot for her down there right now.”
Neither of us argued with her and made
our way down the stairs towards the gate. Surprisingly, Elizabeth didn’t even
seem to notice our leaving. I turned one last time as I walked through the gate
toward the house. She was sitting on Peter’s lap enthralled with whatever story
he was telling her. The picture made me wonder about my own family. I never
thought of them much. Heck, we’d never been close. I considered Amadeus’s
family more of my own family than my birth family. Their loss, I mused as I
took Amadeus’s hand and we strolled towards the beach and water.
Seeing his brothers and Logan rushing
off in their direction, Amadeus kissed me passionately on the lips, winked at
me, and took off in a jog towards the group. I shook my head and waded through
the water, enjoying the coolness on my feet. As I walked a bit further, I was
pleasantly surprised to find Ashleigh sitting in her bathing suit in the water,
watching her daughters splash and play in the surf. I hadn’t yet changed and
was still wearing my outfit of Capris and a sleeveless blouse. She stood up to
greet me, brushing wet sand off her legs as she did.
“Zara, glad to see you all got here.
Have you been here long?”
“No, we had lunch and that’s about it.
The boys wanted to get down here, so I followed.”
We walked along the stretch of beach in
front of the huge mansions lining the coast line. It amazed me how some of
these houses were exclusively vacation homes or weekend getaways. But then I
stopped myself, remembering all the vast real estate Peter owned, wondering if
the same lay in store one day for Amadeus and me.
“Did Grace happen to mention to you yet
about taking the girls back into Manhattan for a girls’ day out?”
“No, she didn’t, but she was fussing
with Elizabeth.”
“She thought we could take all the
girls, go do some shopping for school clothes, and have lunch and perhaps high
tea in the city. What do you think?”
“I’m game if you are, but you know the
kids in Seattle dress nothing like they do here in the east. It’s far more
casual. I’d hate for her to spend all that money on clothes they’ll never wear.”
“My thoughts exactly. I thought we might
propose taking them somewhere here on Long Island for lunch and some fun
shopping. I think the girls would enjoy what they could find out here more than
in Manhattan. I know Grace won’t want to take them to the shops they’d rather
go to.”
I giggled thinking of some of the shops
in question. Not the typical boutiques or mega stores of Manhattan, that’s for
sure. “I think that would be more fun for them. Isn’t there that new trendy
restaurant that opened this summer that sits on the water? Amadeus mentioned
something about wanting to go out to dinner there while we were here, just the
two of us.”
“Yes, Grace even mentioned something
about it. I think she’ll be fine with it.”
We walked along some more in a pleasant
silence. I had to ask. “You and Angus getting things worked out?” I glanced
over at her. She had a grin on her face.
“Yeah, I think we’re good. He’s agreed
to go to counseling before he leaves on tour and promised to resume it when he
gets home.”
“Good, that’s a step in the right
direction. I’m glad because I don’t know how much more of his sad puppy dog
eyes I could have taken. He’s been pitiful, Ashleigh.”
