“Melina,” a deep, masculine voice called
out.
The creature turned her delicate head toward
the sound. Manchester scrambled back against the wall as two huge
males stepped into the room. He choked back a frightened cry as
they slowly approached the creature staring back at them as if she
could understand them. Whatever they were saying, the beast
appeared to recognize the language they were speaking.
He watched as they reached up and touched
the dark green scales along her jaw. He half expected those razor
sharp teeth that lined the creature’s mouth to slice through their
arms, but instead she lowered her head and released a low,
desperate cry.
“Melina, my little mate,” the other one said
in a gentle voice.
“What… What the fuck happened to her?”
Manchester asked in a shaky voice.
Twin sets of golden eyes filled with fire
turned in his direction. One of the men snarled before he shifted
into a large topaz and black dragon. The other male turned as two
equally huge golden beasts entered the room.
They both looked like pre-historic saber
tooth tigers. Whatever the male said, it had an effect on one of
the beasts. It turned and exploded through the back wall as if it
wasn’t there. Manchester covered his head as dust and mortar rained
down around him.
When he looked up, there was a hole the size
of a semi-truck leading out to the back of the building. His
astonished gaze swiveled where the large topaz and black dragon had
protectively spread its wings around Melina. He shook his head when
he suddenly realized that there were no longer just the two
dragons, but three.
Disbelief drove him up to a standing
position as he watched the three dragons and two golden creatures
disappear through the hole and into the night. He hurried around
the battered desk, tripping over the fallen debris, as he fought to
get to the opening leading outside. He stumbled backwards, looking
desperately up into the sky. All he could see were the first
twinkling of stars.
He turned when the old man who had been in
the waiting room stepped carefully through the hole. Staring at the
man in shock for a brief second, he looked up again. He turned in a
circle several times before he stopped and looked back at
Harry.
“What the fuck happened to her?” Manchester
asked in a hoarse voice.
“Son, you’d never believe me if I told you,”
Harry said sadly. “Some things are best left alone. If anyone asks,
there was a gas explosion.”
“But, what about Ms. Franklin? What were
those things… Those men?” Manchester asked as shock began to set
in.
“Whatever happened to her up there changed
her,” Harry said quietly. “She will never be the same again. Earth
is no longer her home.”

Cree stayed close to Melina’s left side
while Calo pressed against her right. They flew through the air,
guiding her back toward her grandparent’s house. They knew she did
not understand what was going on. Her dragon instinctively guided
her right now.
They could both feel the fear, confusion,
and shock deep inside her. Their own fear threatened to choke them
as she flinched away from them when they tried to reach out to her.
Her dragon released a low moan of sorrow.
Melina, reach for us. Let us help
you,
Calo whispered to her.
Come to me, my little mate. Let
us hold you.
No,
she cried, pulling further
back.
Melina,
Cree’s voice growled before
softening to a low rumble of desire.
I need you.
A shiver went through the female dragon.
Inside, Melina felt like rolling her eyes and punching Cree in the
mouth. He used that same low rumble on her last night and look what
happened! She had turned into a freak!
You are not a freak!
Cree replied in
surprise.
Why would you think that?
I’m not even going to answer that,
she thought back, not trying to understand how they could
communicate this way.
Just leave me alone.
Never,
Cree retorted, swinging his
head around to nip at the long, slender neck of the female flying
by his side.
He snorted in shock when he suddenly found
himself falling backwards. Melina had wrapped her tail around his
and jerked him as he reached for her. He rolled in the air,
chuckling.
Our mate has a temper,
he thought as
he swung back around behind her.
And a very sexy looking
tail.
His low rumble sounded like thunder as his
dragon laughed when Melina flicked her tail back and forth. It was
too much of a challenge for him to ignore. He wasn’t the only one
not immune to her. Calo, seeing the defiant flick as well, suddenly
swooped below her.
The field,
Calo growled in a low,
strained voice.
I’m losing control. Now!
What?
Melina tried to focus as she
found herself suddenly caged by the two males, one above her and
the other below.
She was still struggling to understand what
was going on. She knew that she had shifted into a dragon. She knew
that it felt like she was now inside of the creature, instead of
‘being’ the creature. What she didn’t understand was how it had
happened and what it meant.
You no worry,
a soft voice whispered
back to her.
I protect.
Protect who? Who are you?
Melina
asked in confusion.
I inside you, you inside me,
the
voice replied.
We are one.
What does that mean?
Melina asked,
this time in frustration.
Dragon Fire,
the voice whispered.
It wake me.
Dragon’s Fire.
Melina repeated as she
thought of the fierce inferno that had threatened to incinerate her
last night.
Shadowy memories of them laughing, and Cree
pulling her into his arms, crystallized into a brilliantly clear
picture. She remembered losing herself in his kiss. Fire and desire
had scorched her as she kissed him back. There was something about
both men that called to her, made her want more.
The fact that they could make her laugh and
forget for just a short time that she was alone in the universe had
warmed her heart. Dinner with Harry, Calo, and Cree made her wish
for the closeness that she had when her parents and grandparents
had been alive. For just a few short minutes she could pretend that
everything was alright in the world. That she hadn’t been kidnapped
by aliens and taken away from everything she knew. That her Gramps
would come through the door any minute with a beer in one hand and
a deck of cards in the other.
Then, the fire had swept through her making
her forget everything, but the man in her arms. Cree had tasted
wild and fresh. Memories of his lips running along her jaw, down to
her neck had electrified her senses. His roughly spoken words
echoed through her with a clearer understanding now as she
remembered him sinking his teeth into her.
I can wait no longer. My dragon can wait no
longer.
My mates need me. I need them. Without,
they die,
the image of her dragon appeared to her.
Two topaz and black dragons curled
protectively around a small dark green one. The dragons held in the
hands of the woman in gold. It had been them.
Yes,
her dragon whispered.
*.*.*
Calo rolled as they approached the old
house. A single light illuminated the entrance to the garage as
they flew over it. Their shadows a flicker of darkness before they
disappeared. He stretched out his back legs and his wings beat
heavily as he landed. He swung around and rose on his back legs as
Melina flapped her wings frantically as she attempted to slow her
speed as she came in to land beside him. She would have tumbled
face first into the grassy field behind the house where she had
gone to pick flowers earlier if Calo hadn’t reached out with his
forearms and steadied her. Cree landed behind her.
Calo snarled at Cree as he released Melina
and circled her. The two faced each other, circling, hissing and
snarling at the other. Each time one would get near her, the other
would snap his sharp teeth in warning. Calo charged his brother
when Cree circled around to separate him from Melina. The two
massive bodies struck with a force that resonated through the small
field behind the house.
Mine!
Calo snapped, trying to throw
Cree to the ground.
Never,
Cree growled back.
Calo jerked to the left, trying to sweep his
tail under Cree. Cree rose off the ground with a burst of energy.
He pulled Calo up with him, slashing his long tail out to slice
across his brother’s stomach. Calo was forced to release his hold
or risk being gutted.
A loud snarl echoed as the two males clashed
over and over. The fight took to the air several times, but quickly
came back to the ground when one of them would try to get to Melina
who watched the fight in disbelief before her feelings turned to
exasperation.
*.*.*
How long will this go on?
Melina
asked her dragon.
Until both tire or one die,
her
dragon replied, swiveling as they sped past her.
Long time. Both
powerful.
Both idiots,
Melina replied
dryly.
Her dragon giggled even as the two males
fell from the sky and hit the ground hard as they clawed at each
other. Her dragon tilted her head to watch as they rolled on the
ground. They were evenly matched. She didn’t know what would happen
if they continued to fight each other.
I’ll tell you what will happen,
Melina snorted as the males broke apart and started to do the
circling thing again.
I’ll take a shovel upside both their heads
if they don’t stop acting like a couple of jealous adolescents
fighting over a favorite toy. I just wish I had one now.
No shovel,
her dragon said with a
mischievous rumble.
But have tail.
Melina chuckled as she pulled back so that
she could just observe what her dragon would do. She was still
running on the adrenaline of what had happened earlier and right
now, the thought of taking some of it out of the two unsuspecting
male dragons was making her feel pretty damn good.
Go for it,
Melina whispered.
Just
be sure to let them know we are the boss of us. Not them.
Yes!
Her dragon laughed, wiggling her
body in excitement before she charged forward.
The female dragon waited until the two
enraged males were just a few feet apart before she struck. She
hissed a loud warning, snapping her tail across the back of Calo’s
head while reaching up and clamping down hard on Cree’s left ear
with her teeth. She jerked Cree’s head down while she used her tail
to run up and under Calo.
Whoa, wait a minute,
Melina started
to say when she realized what her dragon was about to do.
Holy
shit! That wasn’t what I meant.
I show them what I want,
her dragon
responded firmly.
Melina felt the Dragon’s Fire building
inside her dragon. A moan escaped her as it flared like a sun burst
exploding outward. She had a pretty good appreciation for what was
about to happen now that she had experienced it before. She almost
felt sorry for the male dragons.
The female dragon slipped the end of her
tail between Calo’s legs and ran it along the slit that covered his
genitals. At the same time, she released Cree’s ear long enough to
bite down on his exposed neck.
*.*.*
Mate!
Cree groaned as she breathed
the Dragon’s Fire into him.
He wanted to struggle against the fierce
heat coursing through him, but was held frozen as she stroked him
with the tip of her wing. She ran the edge of it back and forth
along the slit until she got what she wanted. As his cock and balls
descended, she used the small claws on the end to stroke him.
Cree heard, as well as, felt his brother’s
own response as she used her tail to tease Calo closer. A shudder
went through his body as she released his neck and licked at the
wound she had created.
Mine,
she declared as she slid the
tip of her tail into the slit on Calo and stroked him at the same
time.
Both. Mine or none.
She pulled back to look first at Cree who
lifted his eyes to her glowing green ones before she looked over
her shoulder at Calo. With a snort, she suddenly withdrew from both
males and pushed away from them. She ignored their loud snarl of
protest and backed away from them, snapping her jaws and slashing
her tail at them.
Both sets of golden eyes flared with desire
as they followed her as she turned and raced across the field back
toward the house. Instinctively they knew if she made it, they
would not be given a second chance.
Capture her,
Calo snapped as he took
off behind her.
Cree ran several steps before he unfolded
his wings and rose from the ground. He could see the plan forming
in Calo’s mind. They would work together to capture her.
Cree flew ahead of the two dragons racing
across the uneven ground. His narrowed eyes caressed the glittering
green scales as they caught the moonlight. A chuckle escaped him as
she snapped her tail at Calo. She was not going to make it easy for
them.
He circled around and landed a short
distance from the gate. Turning his body, he angled it in front of
her to stop her. He grunted in surprise when she suddenly lifted
off and flew over him.
Come to us,
he ordered as he watched
her circle back around and land a short distance from where he
stood.
No,
the female dragon hissed
back.
Calo’s dragon sneezed in amusement.
Sounds just like our mate,
he chuckled as he turned at the
last minute so he didn’t run into Cree.
