Trish

“Hey, I have lunch, babe.” I say shaking the bag.

“Come here and give me a kiss.” He orders smirking at me.

I straddle him and place my arms around his neck. I kiss him slowly, nibbling from his neck to his earlobe softly biting and licking. Then, I kiss my way to his jaw, leaving wet kisses as I go. Before I get close to his lips, he pulls back and looks at me with a cocky grin on his face.

“I’m cashing in on my win today, baby. Sex on my desk or on the sofa is happening, right now.”

“Um, what if someone walks in? Can’t we just have sex in our room, tonight?”

“No! Right now, since I’ll be working graveyard again.” He smiles that smile that gets me all hot, bothered, and wet in all the right places.

He pushes me back to stand up and lock the door. Turning around and facing me, he stares at me as if he wants to eat me with lust and heat in his eyes. “You have five seconds to take your clothes off, or I will take them off for you. I’m telling you, right now; if I do…you won’t be wearing any when you leave,” He growls.

He has his eyes on me the whole time, watching me undress. His wandering eyes roam around my body. Since he is now shirtless my eyes do some wandering of their own; from his glorious flat abs to his very delectable magic “V”.

He arches his eyebrow at me. “Do you want me to take them off for you?” He huskily says, eyeing my panties and kicking his shoes off, then his socks. He walks straight at me while unbuckling his belt, unbuttoning his jeans, and unzipping his fly. Damn, he’s not wearing any boxers….
Oh goodness, I’m going to be mauled alive.

Before I know it, I’m flat on my back, on the sofa; my damn panties are torn in two. My own private Magic Jake is hovering over me. He looks at me with fire in his eyes, igniting my own in a matter of seconds. His lips are on me, and our tongues are dueling; twirling and swirling against each other. Our hands are in a dance of passionate touches, caressing the most sensitive parts of our body, fueling our desire, pushing the craving beyond the point of control.

He leaves my lips to attach his mouth directly to my breast, licking and sucking my nipple, while his free hand kneads the other; he releases my nipple with a pop and drags his tongue sensually across my chest. His trail of hot wetness triggers yet another moan to escape my mouth. His fingers travel down my stomach, only to end in my most sensitive area. He starts rubbing my already sensitive nub of nerves, causing me to writhe in delight.

“I love how you’re always ready for me, sweetheart.” He throatily says.

He places his hand behind my knee, pushes it toward my chest, and penetrates me ever so slowly. We both moan out loud, enjoying our connection once again; he moves in and out of me gradually, increasing the pace. His mouth finds mine, and we continue the sensual dance of our tongues, mirroring the movement of our bodies. He releases my leg, guides it around his waist squeezing him, pushing him even closer to me.

He places his cheek against mine and whispers sweet words to me. He tells me how much he loves me; that I’m the only one he will ever love like this, and I’m his, forever. I hold on to him, anchoring my hands around his massive shoulders. I move my hips to match his. His strokes gets harder and stronger, leading us closer to our heaven.

“I’m close, baby. God, you feel so good…” He breathlessly whispers.

He snakes his hand between us and flicks my precious nub that pushes me over the precipice of pleasure. With one final thrust, he falls right alongside me. We bask in the feeling of reaching our heaven, once again. He doesn’t release his hold on me until our breathing evens out.

“Do you trust me?” He asks while I furrow my brow wondering why he’s asking me this question. I can’t forget it, it’s like an itch that can’t be ignored.

I finally convince him to get dressed so we can eat the now soggy sandwiches and warm watered down sodas. A knock on the door gives me the cue to leave. I kiss Jake and waltz my satisfied kitty out the door, sans panties.

Chapter 14

Trish

I’m having that feeling when I know what I’m seeing, but can’t understand why I’m seeing it.

Amber:
hope you’re feeling better. I’ll drop off your favorite soup later. I enjoyed last night.

I look at his sleeping body on the bed and back at the phone I’m currently holding. I’m internally debating whether to throw it at him or throw it against the wall. I put the phone and jeans right where I found them and go to the bathroom. Everyone’s in the kitchen except Brian and Jake. I’m trying my hardest to pretend everything’s okay, but probably when I see Jake I’ll lose it completely.

“Everything okay, Trish?” Tami’s all-knowing eyes notice what I’m trying my hardest to hide.

I shrug my shoulders controlling the compulsion to lash out and yell. Then, he walks in with a smile on his face while I’m trying to kill him with my stare. As soon as he sees me, his smile leaves his face.

He walks toward me, but I move to sit on the opposite side of the table. His questioning eyes turn stormy. The mood in the room changes quickly, and everyone’s relax posture turns stiff instantly.

“What’s wrong, Trish? Are you mad at me?” Always direct to the point, he asks without caring that our friends are there.

I stay quiet knowing nothing good will come out of my mouth. He stands in front of me while I cast my eyes downward.

“Alright, you better tell me what the hell’s going on because I don’t know what crawled up your ass,” He says in a tone breaching anger.

“Are you kidding me? How about you check your phone. Maybe it’ll enlighten you.” I can’t believe he’s playing dumb.

He checks his phone, glances back at me, and puts his phone in his jean pocket. He walks away from me and turns around with his hands on his hips. “Are you talking about Amber’s text?”

I scoff at him, “The very one.”

“So, what about it. I didn’t answer. Are you throwing a tantrum because of it? You gotta be shitting me.”

“You lied to me! Why didn’t you tell me?” I stand up, shaking my head, biting my tongue, hoping to squelch my own anger. “Of course you wouldn’t tell me because it’s hard to teach old dogs new tricks. You’ll always fall back to your old self.”

“I didn’t lie to you, Trish, not in my eyes. She was an extra on the set, she saw Cody and me the first night, she approached us, and we had dinner on the set. I was with Cody the whole time; I was never alone with her! I don’t want her!” His voice getting louder by the millisecond.

“Hey, hey, knock it off. Jake, walk away, man.” Cody pushes Jake to the other side of the kitchen.

I begin to walk away when his loud voice stops me. “Where are you going? Don’t you want to throw more shit on my face? You need to grow up, Trish.”

I face him not trying to mask my anger. “Why didn’t you tell me about her? You had every opportunity to tell me, but you chose to keep it from me. Remember, when you told me you don’t keep pictures or what not on your phone or in your room, because you don’t want me to ever doubt my place in your heart. Well, news flash, your not telling me that you’re spending time with your ex makes me doubt everything you’ve ever told me. You get all bent out of shape with all of Dylan’s old shit in my room when you spend two days with your ex. You went behind my back! YOU LIED!”

“Enough, stop, both of you! If you guys can’t talk without yelling at each other, then talk some other time.” Tami stands pointing at Jake and swings her gaze at me. Her eyes begging me to calm down.

“I was doing my fucking job. Can you get it in your head? I.did.nothing.wrong! I’m a 28 year old man, I can handle myself. You need to trust me, Trish. I will always do what’s right for
us
.”

“You will always do what’s right for us? Then why didn’t you tell her to stop talking to you,” I say with as much sarcasm as I could.

He blows out a heavy frustrated breath. “How would it look if I kept running the other way when she approached me? We were just talking, that’s what adults do. I wasn’t harsh like I was with Tiff because we have a history together. She’s not a bitch, Trish. We even talked about…”

I raise both my hands, palms facing him and then smirk. “Nice to know you guys have a history together.” I walk out just then, because being around him right now is not helping.

How can we have a future if at every turn someone from his past comes and wants to destroy us? Why didn’t he tell me about Amber? Thinking I have to let him go or possibly lose him, breaks my heart, shreds my soul, and weakens me…

Jake

Walking to the boy’s side of the house, I can’t help but think that once again we’re back to square one. If I were an outsider looking at this crazy ass situation, I would slap us upside the head because we’re fighting over juvenile shit that in the grand scheme of things doesn’t matter. This particular fight, though, I didn’t do anything wrong. Again, her instinct is to run, get mad, and blame me. What the hell will happen to us when we’re faced with a serious problem? How will she react to it? Will she up and leave me? Blame me?

Brian walks in the living room as soon as I plop down on the sofa. “Did I miss anything?”

“Trish is upset because she read Amber’s text. I did everything by the book and still I get shit for it. What the fuck, man?”

I stand up abruptly, and everything starts to spin. Brian and Cody immediately are on their feet, slowly sitting me back down.

“You okay, man? Let me get you some water.” Cody leaves, and Brian goes into doctor mode.

“Brian, I’m fine. This stupid graveyard shift is doing a number on me. God, I’m glad we’re done with it.”

“You look like shit, Jake.” Brian’s assessment is entirely true because I feel like it too.

“I just need to sleep this off. Hopefully, that’ll do the trick.” I stand up slowly while thinking of what to say to Trish to help her calm down.

“Okay, if you want to talk to Trish, do it. Just make sure caveman Jake isn’t going to make an appearance.” He smiles at me and walks with me to the other side of the house. Where my other half is currently brooding.

I find her sitting on the bed, deep in thought. I’m sure thinking of how I’ve caused her pain, how she thinks my past dictates my actions. She couldn’t be more wrong. I always have and always will think about what’s best for her…for us. We’re both deathly afraid of losing each other, but the difference is I’ll never leave her behind while she’ll leave me so she isn’t the one who’s left alone.

I sit next to her, relieved she didn’t get up and leave.

“Are you ready to talk now? We can’t be doing this all the time, Trish. I wish I could change my past because I seem to lose you over it every damn time.” I let out a nervous laugh. “You know I have to tell myself over and over again to leave your past in the past, so we can move forward, make a go of us. But, you have to do the same thing, babe, if you want us to ever work.”

She just stares outside the window. “You need to tell me everything, Jake. You’re not protecting me by not talking to me. I don’t care if it’ll hurt me, scare me, or even drive me crazy. It’s what adults do, like you said, so talk to me next time. How can I possibly understand if I don’t know? You can’t protect me from everything…and not from you.”

“You didn’t give me a chance to explain. I was about to and you walked away. Look, when I said we have a history, it’s just that, a history.”

She looks affronted. “There you go again telling me about your ‘history’.” She uses air quotes while her eyes are shooting sting rays at me. “You have a history with Tiffany; you put her in her place. What’s the difference?”

I’m getting frustrated faster than a speeding bullet! When will she ever get things? Why does she automatically think I’m ready to bolt, or I’m ready to fuck someone?

“I can’t believe you don’t see the difference. My history with Tiffany is nothing but ugliness and stupidity on my part. I’ll take ownership of that. Like you eloquently said before ‘
my dick that I love so much is going to get you killed’.
Why would I want to respect that relationship, much less defend it? With Amber though, just as you have a history with Dylan, I have one with her. It’s a history worth keeping. Not because I love her, but because she was very nice to me once before. Do you understand it now? I thought we settled the fucking green-eyed monster.”

Her death glares toned down a bit, but I’m missing her smile…
the smile.

She takes a very long and deep breath, letting it out slowly. “I never promised I wasn’t going to be jealous anymore. I said, I’ll try. This is me trying. I’m not running, right? However, next time we talk to protect us. Stop protecting me from everything. I need and want to know everything. Do you get me? That’s the only way I can understand, Jake.”

Hearing her say protecting us solidifies everything for me. What she fails to understand is that I will always protect her…even from me. I finally look at her and give her the smile she loves so much.

“Okay.”

“Okay what? That you’ll tell me everything, or okay as in you’re not mad at me?” Her calm tone makes me smile.
The crazy girl is at rest. Finally.

“Okay, I’ll try not to protect you too much.
Try
being the operative word, babe, because I’ll always put you first.”

She rolls her eyes at me. “Fine, you’ll try and I’ll try. But, we’ll always talk, right?”

“Of course, talking is good. I’m gonna get some shut eye now that the drama is done.” I playfully nudge her.

The smile she gives me calms me. “I’ll stay with you.”

Just then my phone rings, but instead of worrying, annoyance fills my body because I just want to cuddle with Trish. I reach for my phone, giving it to her without looking at it.

“Hey, it’s her. You want me to answer?”

I nod slowly. “She knows about you. You can probably help her cope with the loss of her fiancé.” The surprised look on her face is priceless. “I understand the guilt is hitting you now, isn’t it. Lose the frown pretty girl, we’re good. Like I said, talk to her, it might help her. You’re good at that, you know. Do what you think’s best.”
