“Would you… like to move to the bedroom?”

“Yes.”

I’d never gotten up so quickly in my life.

I didn’t need to look behind me to know that he was following me to the bedroom.

I flicked the light on quickly; I wanted to see every second of this. He grabbed my hips and pulled me close to him, closing the door behind him and spinning me around against it.

He pushed me against the door gently, his lips touching my neck softly.

I moaned, my eyes rolling back. So much for seeing every second of it.

His hands traced over the curves of my body. I moaned louder, praying his hands would keep going lower and lower.

His lips touched my collar bone; his teeth grazed my skin gently.

“Alex,” He pulled away from me. My eyes snapped open as I stared at him. His lips touched mine. “I want you so bad.” He whispered gently. “I need you.”

“I need you too.” I whispered. I reached out for him, cupping his hard on.

His eyes rolled back as he let out a deep breath, pressing against me. My heart throbbed as I massaged him gently; heart rushing to every inch of my body as I suddenly wished I didn’t have any clothes on.

He pulled away from me. I opened my mouth to protest but he cut me off.

“Alex, about… last time.”

Really? We had to do this right now? I’d put it out of my mind and was pretending it never happened. I wanted him and I was going to risk it.

“It doesn’t matter.” I snapped.

“No, it does. And I want you to know,” he stepped towards me. “I’m not going to leave you this time unless you kick me out.” He pulled me into his arms.

Though I could feel his boner against me it wasn’t a sexual hug. It was more affectionate than anything else. His lips touched my neck gently.

His words replayed in my head again and again. Could I trust him? There was only one way to find out.

Chapter

Hayden turned to face me. “I don’t want to hide you, Alexandra.”

I stared at him trying to process what he was saying. “You mean… you want to go public with me? Shouldn’t we wait a little while? You know, to make sure that we’re actually happy together or something.”

“I don’t want to.” He bit his lip as he reached out and touched my cheek gently. “We can do that if that is what you want to do, but I want to show you off. I want everyone to know that I have you in my life. I want everyone to see the wonderful woman I get to look at right now.”

My brow furrowed. That sounded like a line right out of a romance novel, but I couldn’t deny that it made me blush.

“Well, it’s not really a big deal to me. If we don’t work out, you’re the one who is going to have to deal with it… it’s up to you what we do.”

I’d never put this much control in someone else’s hands, but the strange thing was that I was really okay with it. I wanted to see what he’d pick.

He grinned softly and kissed me. “I want to show you off, let’s at least go for a walk downtown and get some dinner- alright?”

“Sounds perfect.” I jumped out of bed and grabbed some clothes.

Half an hour later I was ready to go- or at least as ready as I could be.

He took my hand as he placed a kiss on my lips. “Are you sure about this?”

“Yup.” I nodded as I lied to him and myself. I wasn’t sure. I wasn’t ready. I had no clue what had made me think this would be a good idea, but it was too late now. I couldn’t take it back- Hayden needed this.

We talked out of the house together hand in hand, and for the first time in since we’d started seeing each other we didn’t try to hide ourselves or even rush to the car. Instead we made our way down the street.

It suddenly seemed like everyone was staring. Like everyone couldn’t take their eyes away from us. My heart raced and I could feel a thin layer of sweat beginning to form on my palms, even more so on the hand that Hayden held.

“You look stressed; we’re not even down town yet.” He said it jokingly but squeezed my hand gently to show his support.

“I’m just nervous.” I shrugged it off hoping he wouldn’t say anything else about it. I didn’t want to talk about it- not now while we were in public.

“Hayden!”

I didn’t recognise the voice that shouted his name but he seemed to, he turned to me and gave me a sympathetic smile.

“Are you ready?” He mouthed as I heard someone rush over to us.

No.

But I turned to face the man with Hayden. I forced a smile over my lips as I looked the reporter up and down. He’d pulled out his phone and held it out to us. The screen told me it was recording.

“Who’s this?” he didn’t beat around the bush.

I felt Hayden’s hand slip out from mine and curl around my hips, pulling me closer to him.

“My girlfriend.”

Epilogue

I wasn’t quick enough. When Sarah found out that I’d been seen holding hands with her rock star crush she almost flipped.

She called me demanding the details and an account of how we’d met- then an account of other details I was not willing to give up to her.

Instead I changed the topic by promising to let her meet him the following weekend, on the condition that she is well behaved.

My mom wasn’t surprised when I told her, and above anything else Hayden’s mom was thrilled. We stayed in town for a little while until he was ready to get back on the road, and asked me to come with him.

Of course I said yes.

Now here I was in England. I stood backstage watching my boyfriend preform. I’d come to love his music.

Every chance he got he’d glance quickly at me and send a smile my way. I tried to pretend it didn’t mean as much to me as it actually did- and I think he saw right through it.

Tonight we’d head back to the hotel, after a long flight and the show we needed sleep. And we would get that; after we did other things of course.

The End

Unruly Interest

Chapter 1

“God fucking dammit.” I muttered as I dropped my books on the hood of my car. I bent down to look at the flat tire.

Could this day get worse?
No, you shouldn’t wonder that, otherwise you’re going to jinx it and get stuck walking home in the rain.
I let out a deep breath and grabbed my keys from my pocket. I unlocked my door, tossed my books in there and popped the trunk. For once I was thankful I’d managed to clean out the car somewhat so I didn’t have to take everything out and put it on the ground.

I started my car, put my Miranda Lambert CD on and rolled the windows down so I’d be able to hear it. I closed the door as I made my way over to trunk. Before lifting the floor board up I slipped out of my heels, not trusting myself to be able to do this with 4 inch heels on.

The asphalt felt good against my feet I have to admit, and despite the fact I could tell everyone had begun to stare at me, I popped the floor board up in my little Jetta’s trunk and reached for the spare tire as I sung the lyrics coming from my speakers.

“Are you alright?”

My head snapped up as he spoke. My jaw almost dropped.

His black hair hung down to his jaw. His green eyes roamed over my body, falling to my feet and a smirk spread over his face, his thin beard tilting up as he did so.  I swallowed dryly as I stared at the lip ring he wore.

My eyes ran over his body, mostly looking at all the tattoos along his arms.

“I’m fine thank you.” I finally forced myself to speak. I felt a little breathless as he stepped towards me. He wore tight skinny jeans and a black T-shirt. To my surprise my eyes rested on a Hank Williams tattoo on his forearm.

“You sure about that?”

I frowned. “I’m pretty fucking sure.”

He laughed softly. “Alright, well do you mind if I keep you company?” I stared at him blankly. “You know, just in case you could use a second pair of hands.”

I rolled my eyes but didn’t say anything as I turned back to the trunk and pulled the tire out, along with the jack, my breaker bar and the socket set I kept back there.

I worked in silence as I loosened the bolts on the tire, mostly ignoring him as much as I could.

“So, I take it you go to school here.” He finally said.

“Yup.”

“You’re going to become a lawyer?”

“It
is
law school.” I retorted.

I heard him make a sound of amusement behind me as I got the car up on the jack and turned my attention to getting the tire off. It thudded to the ground and I jumped, making sure I was well out of the way.

“So do you normally not wear shoes when you change your tire?”

“I don’t wear $100 shoes when I change my tire.”despite the fact that they were four years old, they were still my favorite shoes. I turned to see his face. He grinned widely.

My heart skipped a beat as I stared at him. I have to admit he was cute. Okay, more than cute but who the fuck was he to think I needed his help?

Nonetheless he stayed with me the entire time. And I have to admit I thought it was kind of nice, I never would have expected it from him- or anyone else for that matter. I even began to feel a little bad for not being polite.

“So, you like Hank.” I said refusing to look at him.

“Which one?”

“Williams.”

“Which one.” I shot him a look as his grin widened. “There are three. I like Senior and three.”

I wasn’t going to admit I didn’t know about a third. “So, what makes him special enough to have tattooed on you?”

He looked away. “There’s a long story there.”

I raised an eyebrow but he didn’t say anything else. So I dropped it.

I pushed myself up, wiping dirt off on my jeans. “Well, I’m all done now.”

“Looks like you didn’t need my help.” His eyes sparkled.

“I told you I wouldn’t.” I gave him a soft grin.

“Well, I couldn’t help trying to play the hero. I’m Adan by the way.” He held his hand out to me.

I shook it. “Melina.”

“It’s been a pleasure to meet you, Melina.”

“Thank you.” I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks.

***

This was just not my week.

Who was I kidding? This hadn’t been my month, or my year. I closed my eyes taking a deep breath, trying not to let myself react to the situation.
Everything is going to be alright.
I told myself.

It seemed like no matter how many times I told myself that it didn’t seem to be working.

I swallowed dryly and pulled the keys from the engine. I slipped them into my purse as my door popped open and I headed towards class. Getting my hours cut meant I probably wasn’t going to be able to make rent this month.

I needed to get another job, but the fact of the matter was that I hardly had enough time for the job I had. How was I supposed to be able to deal with two jobs, school and somehow find time to sleep?

“Hey,” Kat came to a stop in front of me. “How’s it going?”

“Fine.” I lied. “You?”

“I’m heading across the street to get a coffee, want to come with?”

“Sure.” Coffee. That would have to be my answer, which it already was to be honest.

My friend and I walked in silence across the street towards the café we frequented.

“They took the help wanted sign down.” I said in some attempt to make conversation.

“Shame. We should have applied when we could.”

She was right, it would be been the best move for both of us. I grabbed the door and pulled it open, motioning for my friend to go first. She nodded her thanks.

I froze for a fraction of a second as I stepped into the café and saw the man behind the counter. His eyes locked on me, a grin spreading over his face.

His lip ring wasn’t in today and his black hair was tied back out of the way.

“Good morning.” He smiled widely. “How are you doing today?”

“I’m good thanks,” Kat didn’t seem phased by it as she approached the counter and ordered her drink.

Adan turned his attention to me. “Can I get you anything?”

“Chai latte please.” I forced myself to speak as I moved closer to the counter.

“Of course.” He gave me a smile as he turned away to get our drinks ready.

Kat shot me a look, eyebrow raised.

I smiled, silently promising her I would give her all the details later.

“How’s your car Melina?”

“It’s fine, thank you. I dropped it off at the shop today to get a real tire put on it.” After all, it wasn’t a good idea to drive around on the spare until it was time to replace them for the winter.

“What happened to your car?” My friend snapped as she turned to me.

“Nothing, I just had a flat tire yesterday.”

Adan came over to the counter with both our drinks. “And I offered to help, but she wasn’t interested in that.” He gave me a wink. “Here are your drinks, ladies.”

“How much do I owe you?” I asked reaching my wallet.

“Don’t worry about it.”

The second we left the café Kat demanded to know every detail. “He’s totally into you.” She said as we made our way into the classroom.

“Bullshit.” I shook my head.

“Go back; I bet he’ll ask you out.
