Chase watches, unable to move at first when Violca slowly levitates above the ground. When she speaks, her voice sounds like there are several women’s voices coming from her. When Micah screams, Chase is suddenly able to move again. Whatever hold Micah had on him is gone. Suddenly Violca drops. Chase quickly reaches out for her, catching her before she can hit the ground.

Looking up, Chase sees a flame surrounding Micah before he is gone. A small burn mark on the floor is the only sign of where he was. Looking down at Violca, he brushes her hair back, worried because she looks so pale. He can feel her pulse within him. Scott moans, working his way over to them, holding his side.

“What the hell was that?” Scott asks, looking down at her. Chase can see the worry on his friends face.

“I don’t know,” Chase whispers. Feeling her pulse get stronger he feels his dragon worry for her as well.

Scott reaches down to take Violca from him and Chase growls. “I am just going to help you. You’re in no shape to carry her.”

Chase nods. He doesn’t quite understand what happened between him and Violca but both he and his dragon could feel her heart beating and her power. While she was banishing Micah, he could not only feel her power but also felt her using his and felt her ancestral power as well.

Scott carefully scoops Violca into his arms. Chase hears her moan softly and feels her pulse pick up. He uses the broken chair next to him to help raise himself. Wrapping his arm around his own waist, he feels his body healing itself. Walking behind Scott, has asks, “Did you find Kati?”

Scott nods. “Yeah, I sent her with Brandon and told him to keep her safe.” Chase raises an eyebrow, surprised by his friend. “I think there is more to Brandon than we guessed.”

Before Chase can reply, he hears Violca moan. “She was amazing,” Scott whispers, adjusting her in his arms.

Chase smiles feeling very proud of her. “Yeah, she is.” He chuckles. “Don’t think she needed us at all.”

When they get outside they see a few guards down and Brandon at the front gate with the van. “Come on, guys, we have about three minutes before the cops get here and I would rather not lose my job because they don’t believe me when I say I had to save my witch best friend from a demon.”

Chase goes to the passenger seat, Scott going in the sliding door, Kati gasping when she sees her sister. “Is she okay?”

Scott gets in, carefully laying Violca on the bench seat next to Kati. “We think so.”

Kati looks up at Scott, who closes the door behind him. “What do you mean you think so? What happened to her?”

“We are not a hundred percent sure exactly what happened. Let’s get you both back to the house,” Chase says, wincing slightly as he turns to Kati.

Right before they pull into the driveway, Violca stirs.

“V, V, wake up, please?”

Chase turns, the cut in his side feels like it is mostly healed. He watches as she slowly opens her eyes. She smiles when she sees Kati looking down at her

“You’re awake,” Kati says.

Violca smiles, and slowly sitting up, she hugs her sister. “Kati, I was so worried when they took you away.”

Violca pulls back and looks over at Chase. “Are you okay?”

Chase nods. “I’ll heal. How about you?”

Violca frowns and he senses her confusion. “Yeah, I am fine, thank you.” She looks at Brandon, smiling softly at him and he can feel her affection for him. She turns, looking at Scott. “All of you, thank you so much.”

The mood is lighter with her awake, everyone quiet as they pull up to the house. Before the van is in park, Eva, Angyalka and Sari run out of the house and throw themselves into Violca and Kati’s arms. Chase shakes his head, a smile on his lips. He can’t quite make out exactly what they are saying as they all talk to each other at the same time. Normally he doesn’t like chaos, but the sounds of them happy and feeling Violca’s joy at being reunited with her sisters gives him peace he doesn’t ever remember feeling before.

Eryk comes out of the house and hugs Scott. He glances at Kati and Violca. “You saved them.”

Scott shakes his head. “We helped, Violca did most of the hard work.”

Eva hears him and looks at Violca, her eyes wide. “Really?” When Violca bites her lip and blushes, Eva grins. “You guys have to tell me everything that happened.”

The girls head upstairs. When they get to the door, Angyalka turns and runs back down the stairs, jumping at Chase who smiles as he picks her up. “I told you she would be okay.” She smiles, her blue eyes twinkling as she gives him a big kiss on the cheek. “Thank you for going to get her, I knew you could bring her home.”

Chase kisses her cheek. “Yes, you did.” When he looks up, he sees Violca standing in the doorway looking back at him. His heart skips a beat when she smiles, winking at him before following the other girls in.

Carrying Angyalka in his arms, Chase and the guys follow them up. Scott pauses for a second, shaking his head, muttering, “Who would have thought the sounds of female chatter in the house would be so…”

Chase grins. “Soothing.”

The guys laugh and Brandon grins, taking Angyalka from Chase. “The Grey sisters have a way of wiggling into your life and changing it forever.”

Angyalka smiles at him, a secret smile that seems way older than her ten years and all the guys smile, thinking how true it is. Looking around, he realizes that none of them would have it any other way. Joining the girls in the living room, he sits next to Violca on the couch, putting his arm around the back of the couch, smiling when she leans on him.

Avoiding questions about what happened, Violca shakes her head when she notices Eva frowning. “Tomorrow,” Violca says, looking at Kati, smiling at her sister. “We will tell you about everything that happened tomorrow, I promise.” She leans into Chase whose finger is lightly stroking her shoulder with his thumb. “Tonight, I just want to take a shower, eat some food and get some sleep.”

Eva smiles, giving her a hug. “You’re right, tomorrow is soon enough. Go take a shower, we’ll order some pizza so when you get out you can eat.”

“Sounds like a plan.” She smiles at Chase before getting up. Kati follows her upstairs. When they get to the top, Violca hugs Kati. “You were so brave sweetie, I love you very much. You do know that, right?”

Kati nods, her eyes filling with tears. “I was so scared.”

Violca hugs her again, whispering, “So was I, sweetie, so was I.”

Kati smiles, pulling back and biting her lower lip. “Brandon somehow made a knife fly through the air…”

“We’ve known him forever. I’m sure he will explain it tomorrow. Tonight, tonight, I just want to celebrate us being all together.”

Kati smiles. “Sounds like a good idea.”

Violca uses the bathroom that adjoins Chase and Eryk’s room, letting Kati use Scott’s shower. Standing under the shower, letting the water run down her body, she sighs happily.

Feeling better after her shower, she slips into a pair of yoga pants and a tank top. Walking downstairs, she smells pizza and smiles, hearing Sari and Angyalka giggling as they talk to Eryk. Walking into the kitchen, she sees Kati quietly sitting, and Violca notices that the bruise under her eyes is starting to fade.

Violca sees Brandon leaning against the counter, watching Scott intently. Not seeing Chase but aware of him, she turns and heads into the living room. Chase is standing by the window and looks at her over his shoulder. Turning, leaning against the window frame, he watches her.

Violca walks over to him, feeling nervous. She thinks about what the demon Micah said about the bite marks and about Chase marking her as his, but how it wasn’t complete. Is that what she did? Is that why she can feel him and his dragon? She now knows they are two parts of the same person. “Thank you for coming after us.”

Chase smiles and when she is close enough, he reaches out and takes her hand, pulling her toward him. “Did you really think I wouldn’t?” Violca thinks for a moment and realizes that she knew he would. “Besides, it was you who saved us, I was just there to back you up.”

Violca blushes, looking down at his chest, biting her lower lip. Feeling his finger slide under her chin, he gently raises her face so she is looking at him. Violca sees the flash of gold in his brown eyes. “How did you save us?” he asks her quietly, before brushing his lips against hers. “How is it I can feel you and your power, even when you are in the other room?”

Violca looks down. “I don’t know,” she answers truthfully. “The demon, Micah, said you tried to mark me as yours but hadn’t finished yet.”

Looking up, she sees a small grin on his face. Chase steps closer to her before asking her, “So you marked me as yours?” Violca feels her cheeks heat up and wishes the floor would swallow her, when he starts to laugh. Chase leans against the wall. “It means that for me there is no one else.” Her eyes widen, and she wonders if this means she somehow just tricked him into being hers. “Violca, I don’t understand all that happened between us, but I don’t regret what happened.
