I made a good connection with the pass and twisted in mid air to see the ball bobbing and spinning behind Joe Hart in their net …

Standing there with my arms spread wide, I could feel the hate coming off the City fans. Old Trafford went mental.

Losing it at the cameras after my hat-trick against West Ham. The pressure was pouring out of me, like steam from a kettle. Time to say sorry. Another lesson learnt.

Scoring against Barca in the 2011 Champions League final at Wembley. But it wasn’t enough. We lost 3-1.

With Scholesy, probably the greatest midfielder to play in the Premier League.

A decade in football; the number 10 shirt. The hunger to win and score goals drives me on every day.

A keep-ball session at Carrington. Notice Patrice Evra’s not wearing his shinnies; he must have thought Scholesy wasn’t playing that day!

Scholesy snaps at Rio’s ankles. I look happy that, for once, it isn’t me on the receiving end.

Applauding the United fans. I’m grateful for all the support they’ve given me over the years, even through the bad times.
There are more good times to come

Wayne Rooney
is a Premier League sensation. Born in Liverpool in October 1985, he became the youngest scorer in Premier League history in 2002 at the age of 16, shortly after making his debut for Everton. In August 2004 he joined Manchester United and went on to become their highest ever scorer in the Premier League, even surpassing George Best’s tally of 179 goals in the all-time list of Manchester United hit men. He has won four League titles, the 2008 Champions League and two League Cups. He is widely regarded as one of the fi nest players of his generation and is, undoubtedly, the most talked about player in British football; his stunning overhead kick – the winning goal in the 2011 Manchester derby at Old Trafford – was voted the greatest goal in the Premier League’s 20-year history.
