He wanted to see her again.

“How about we have lunch on Monday?”

“What?”

“A welcome to the neighborhood, something like that.”

She peered at him, slightly suspicious. “Maybe.”

“How many people do you know in the area?”

“Not a lot. We don’t
have
to be lunch buddies though—”

“We’ve already attacked a wedding buffet all the way to dessert, Andrea. I think we can handle lunch.”

“What are you talking about, Damon? All throughout dinner you were bitching about your Ice Princess.”

He was watching her carefully as she said this, and she didn’t seem to be bitter, or baiting him. In fact, she seemed amused. And a little coy.

What
was
he talking about?

“Just a standing invite. That’s all,” he said.

Andrea’s leg moved up against his. “I told you what happens when I get involved with a guy, right? The serious, steady woman he’s always wanted in his life is going to notice him. This could be a good thing for you after all.”

“You’re feeling serious and steady right now.”

Her eyes dropped, and he felt the hint of a sigh. “You really don’t know me that well.”

“It’s lunch. Don’t let it scare you.”

She looked past him, toward the far wall, and then she smiled, as if she remembered something. “I won’t quit,” she said.

“What?”

“Nothing. Yes, I guess. Let’s see. Maybe I’ll be free for lunch after all.”

That Kind of Guy.

Thank yous: Layla Tanjutco for the edit, Tania Arpa for the original cover, buqo for sponsoring the class, and the

participants for the support and encouragement. (It takes a village to write a steamy story!)
